Race 1: DRIVER RECRUITMENT QTIS 2YO FILLIES H’CAP - 1050m
LOFN refused to proceed to the barriers and was withdrawn at 12.43 pm. Trainer K. Schweida was advised that LOFN must perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial prior to its next start.
LIMERICK STAR was withdrawn at 12.43 pm by stewards acting on veterinary advice that it was bleeding from the offside nostril when it arrived at the barriers. When questioned, trainer R. Cameron stated that the filly became fractious in the float prior to being offloaded at the course and he was of the opinion there was nothing amiss with LIMERICK STAR. The veterinary surgeon agreed that the presence of blood in the nostril was as a result of external trauma. Mr Cameron was advised that in similar circumstances he must always report to the stewards any occurrence that may affect a horse’s performance.
Stewards ordered that all monies invested on LOFN and LIMERICK STAR be refunded, with the following deductions to apply to successful wagers:
4 cents in the dollar for the Win #1
3 cents in the dollar for place of winner #1
24 cents in the dollar for 2nd place #3
FAINT BLAZE – Shifted out abruptly on jumping.
Race 2: KARTAWAY MINI SKIPS BM75 H’CAP - 2200m
HORA SEXTA – Held up from the 600m until near the 300m.
COLOUR CHARGE – Jockey E. Wilkinson could offer no excuses for the horse’s disappointing performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the horse to be lame in the off foreleg. Trainer N. McCall was advised that she will be required to produce a veterinary clearance for COLOUR CHARGE prior to its next start.
HOW FAIRDINKUM – Raced wide in the early stages.
PARAGGI – Shifted out abruptly after leaving the 100m.
STRATEGIC SHADOW – Raced wide after leaving the 1000m.
Race 3: IVECO OPEN F&M H’CAP - 1200m
DISCREET – Jumped awkwardly.
ELUSIVE STORM – Shifted out when disappointed for a run to the inside of another runner near the 200m.
TUKIYO – Momentarily steadied to avoid heels when weakening after leaving the 200m.
ENDLESS SHADOW – Shifted out abruptly and made contact with another runner near the 300m.
CHORUSES – Raced wide without cover.
Race 4: CAITLIN FORREST MEMORIAL BM90 H’CAP - 1100m
KEMPELLY – Raced wide without cover.
CUM DIVIDEND – Held up rounding the home turn.
BRIBIE – Examined by the veterinary surgeon prior to being presented in the enclosure and passed fit to run.
PRETTYFAMOUS – J. Byrne reported that when caught wide in the early stages he elected to steady the mare and as a result got further back than he had intended. Shifted out under pressure in the straight and bumped another runner near the 200m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed that the horse had mild thumps.
Race 5: NUGROW QTIS 3YO H’CAP - 1200m
MISS COVER GIRL – A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.
AMIZADE – Following the event trainer Ms D. Forster requested permission to experiment with a barrier blanket on AMIZADE as she was of the opinion that the filly does not jump cleanly.
DEUCED – Inspected pre-race at the request of the trainer and passed fit to race. Jumped away awkwardly.
FREEZETHEMILLIONS – Disappointed for a run shortly after entering the straight.
OUTBACK SAGA – Raced wide without cover throughout.
Race 6: TOX FREE BM85 H’CAP - 1600m
ARCTIC – Hampered by another runner near the 1400m.
GRAYSON SQUARE – Taken wider by another runner near the 900m and then raced in a three wide position without cover.
ROYAL JESTER – Hampered by another runner near the 100m.
The Club doctor examined apprentice T. Wolfgram after his ride on GRAYSON SQUARE and passed him fit to fulfil remaining engagements.
Race 7: CARLY-MAE PYE BM85 H’CAP - 1350m
GOLDSLICK – Unable to secure clear running over the final 200m and went to the line without being tested.
MISHANI STEALTH – Raced wide without cover. A post-race veterinary examination revealed that the gelding had mild thumps.
JUST A PERLA – Apprentice L. Tarrant was reprimanded for using the whip in a forehand manner in consecutive strides prior to the 100m.
GUNDY SPIRIT – Held up near the 300m.
Race 8: SUPERIORPAK 0MW H’CAP – 1200m
SPORTING PAGE – Apprentice M. McGuren was reprimanded for permitting his mount to shift in near the 1000m and hamper other runners.
COVERT CHARMOUR – Raced wide without cover.
POWER SUPPLY – Hampered on jumping. Altered course to obtain clear running inside the 200m.
DARCEY – Held up from after leaving the 200m until approaching the 100m.
LUCKY BAA – Jumped awkwardly and made contact with another runner. Hampered by another runner near the 1000m. Overraced in the middle stages.
ROCK ROYALTY – Hampered by another runner near the 1000m.
MISS ZIZOU – Brushed by another runner near the 200m.
DREAM OF SLIPS – Shifted out to improve near the 200m and brushed another runner.
