WEATHER - FINE TRACK - GOOD RAIL - OUT 6M. ALL TRACK

GENERAL: FROM SCTC MEETING, 28.10.01

Trainer A. Bailey was fined $50 for nominating GOOD NIGHT KISS for the Class 1 Handicap when ineligible.

Trainer K. Tinsley was fined $50 for nominating INCLEMAN for the 3 YO Maiden H'cap when ineligible.

G. Duffy was examined by the club' doctor on arrival at the course and stood down from his engagements. The following riding substitutions were permitted: Race 3. HAWAIIAN CALL - M Cahill; Race 4. MISS DISTINCTION - M. Pelling; Race 6. SCHUMANN - K. Bell.

As D. Wheeler was to be overweight, K. Yoshida was substituted as the rider of VICTORY RANGER.


RACE 1: BEAU ZEPHYR H'CAP - 1300M.

GLEN MONARCH pulled hard in the early stages and after leaving the 1000m. shifted out, forcing MOONAH BROOKE wider on the track.

At the entrance to the straight, CARRIBEAN BENNY had to be steadied off the heels of DAJANETER.

A veterinary examination of CAPTAIN COSMIC, which finished last, revealed the filly to be sore in the off flank.


RACE 2: CHIME ZAM H'CAP - 1300M.

POLLYANNA ANNA was slow to begin.

SURR STYLE pulled hard in the early stages.

A veterinary examination of POLLYANNA ANNA following the event revealed the filly to have sustained a laceration to the off fore coronet.

G. Colless was questioned regarding the disappointing performance of CHLOELLA. He stated that when being restrained off the leader after passing the 1000m., CHLOELLA commenced to race ungenerously and continued to do so for some distance, and on straightening when he allowed the filly to shift ground to improve, CHLOELLA failed to respond to his riding. He added that CHLOELLA had worked well leading up to today's event, and he could offer no excuse for the performance. A veterinary examination of CHLOELLA failed to reveal any abnormality, and a swab sample was taken from CHLOELLA.


RACE 3: KING RAUTAI H'CAP - 1000M.

MACALBERT and ROCKLEA ROCKET were slow to begin.

ICY GRIP jumped awkwardly.

At the entrance to the straight, ROCKLEA ROCKET had to be steadied to avoid the heels of ICY GRIP, which shifted out.

L. Appo, rider of ICY GRIP, was reprimanded for excessive use of the whip.

DIAL A STAR, which finished a distant last, was examined by the club's veterinary surgeon following the race, with no abnormalities reported. L. Deguara reported that after having an easy run in the lead, when placed under pressure after passing the 300m., DIAL A STAR failed to respond to her riding. She added that over the concluding stages she eased the gelding and was of the opinion that the horse may have got its tongue over the bit.



RACE 4: SOVEREIGN CHIEF H'CAP - 1400M.

As J. Stanley, rider of the 2nd placegetter IRISH NEWS, returned to scale .4 kilogram under his declared riding weight, stewards permitted him J. Stanley to claim the .5 kilogram entitlement under AR 143. No action was taken against J. Stanley.

Approaching the 1200m., FORDS BRIDGE shifted in, taking GRANDE ALLEE in on to BILLY CART HILL, causing BILLY CART HILL to be steadied.

Making the home turn, VICTORY RANGER had to be steadied off the heels of LUNAR LANDING.

Near the 200m., VICTORY RANGER shifted in abruptly under pressure and then had to be restrained off the heels of GRANDE ALLEE near the 150m..

PRECISION TIMING raced wide throughout the event.


RACE 5: MIGHTY GREY H'CAP - 1200M.

BUCK WHAN was slow to begin.

GREAT WONDER was hampered on jumping away between SNAP ACTION and SHOW GOLD.

SHOW GOLD made the crossing awkwardly.

A swab sample was taken from PEDRO AND LES.


RACE 6: CHARLTON BOY H'CAP - 1300M.

SILENT ASSASSIN raced wide in the middle stages.

Close to the finish line, BOLDALERO had to be steadied to avoid the heels of SCHUMANN, which shifted in abruptly.


RACE 7: VO ROGUE H'CAP - 1600M.

CAPANNELLE was slow to begin.

On jumping away, VOLCANIC HURRAH and ILLUMINANT were hampered between LIGHTHOUSE ROAD and STARLINE TALENT, which shifted in.

Inside the 200m., VOLCANIC HURRAH had to be severely checked to avoid the tiring LETAINE.

Leaving the 100m., when shifting out to improve, MINER'S UNION made contact with LADY TRICE.


RACE 8: ON THE BEACH H'CAP - 1200M.

LITTLE KATERI was slow to begin.

Near the 900m., D'ARGENT FILLE, when pulling hard, struck the heels of PLAY MISTRESS and blundered, almost dislodging its rider. S. Katsidis reported that he regained the use of his off-side stirrup iron near the 700m.

KATE CELESTE and BLANCHFLEUR was forced to race wide throughout the event.

K. Pope, rider of CHIEF'S TREASURE, was reprimanded for returning to scale overweight.


ALL WINNERS AND PEDRO AND LES WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED.
