TATTERSALL'S RACING CLUB STEWARDS REPORT SAT. 29.11.03

STEWARDS PANEL: Mr A. Reardon (Chairman), Mr C. Clifford, Mr G. Ireland, Mr G Hargraves, Mr D. Collingwood, Mr S. Hurford (Cadet)

WEATHER – FINE TRACK – GOOD RAIL – OUT 4M

GENERAL: Trainer D. Gollan and Clerks of the Course Mr D. Carseldine and Mr G. Esmonde were questioned in relation to an incident after the running of Race 8 at Eagle Farm on 22 November 2003. The matter related to a request from trainer D. Gollan for his horse SPORTS CLASS to be led to the barriers. No action was taken against either party.

RACE 1: TOTAL TRAVEL GROUP H'CAP – 2225M

NO RACING INCIDENTS

RACE 2: TATTERSALL'S ARCADE QTIS ADDED STAKES H'CAP – 1400M

MR MOONLIGHT jumped away awkwardly.

After passing the 1200m DELLWOOD DANCER shifted in and made contact with SAUCER OF MILK when being steadied off the heels of KALINGA METAL. MR MOONLIGHT, which was following, had to be steadied as a result.

PARTY EXPRESS raced ungenerously approaching the first turn when being restrained.

Approaching the home turn SAUCER OF MILK attempted to improve to the outside of the heels of PARTY EXPRESS and in doing so made contact with DELLWOOD DANCER, resulting in both horse becoming unbalanced.

After leaving the 400m SAUCER OF MILK was momentarily held up for clear running behind the tiring BARITONE.

After leaving the 300m ATTEMOI shifted out under pressure.

After passing the 200m MR MOONLIGHT shifted in under pressure which resulted in its rider A. Best immediately straightening his mount.

When questioned as to the improved performance of MR MOONLIGHT, trainer S. Dwyer stated that he had instructed apprentice A. Best not to have the gelding near the lead as MR MOONLIGHT had led at Ipswich at its previous start and had been beaten. He further advised that MR MOONLIGHT was better suited over the 1400 metres of today's event compared to its two previous starts which were both over 1000 metres.

RACE 3: HAMILTON HOTEL QTIS ADDED STAKES H'CAP – 1000M

Trainer R. Jansz was put on notice in relation to the manner in which he saddled both SPECIAL QUE and PENDINE, both of which required attention on arrival at the barriers.

EBONY LAD was slow to begin.

STAR SHIRAZ jumped away awkwardly.

Near the 900m EBONY LAD shifted out abruptly to avoid the heels of SPLENDID SAILS and in doing so made contact with FINE SILVER which in turn made contact with RULE OF ENGAGEMENT.

Near the 700m PENDINE commenced to hang out, resulting in SPECIAL QUE having to be checked.

EBONY LAD ran wide making the home turn.

CHRONDITE was inclined to shift out under pressure in the straight.

Trainer H. Richardson was advised that a warning was being placed on BATTLE AT SEA in relation to its barrier manners.

A veterinary examination of EBONY LAD failed to reveal any abnormality.

RACE 4: TATTERSALL'S ACCOMMODATION H'CAP – 1200M

Passing the 1000m KATENIAN and LIMITED IMPULSE made contact, and again near the 900m. LIMITED IMPULSE was then obliged to race wide until approaching the 600m.

Making the home turn SAMMY SEQUALO shifted out to improve and brushed WINSOME DANCER.

Passing the 100m WINSOME DANCER had to be steadied off the heels of LIMITED IMPULSE which shifted out under pressure.

RACE 5: HARDY BROTHERS JEWELLERS COUNTRY CUP – 1200M

Apprentice B. Poulus, the rider of NOBLE KAAPTIVE, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding in that approaching the first turn he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of POETIC HEIGHTS, resulting in that gelding being taken in across the running of KID TREASURE, causing that runner to be checked. Apprentice B. Poulus pleaded guilty to a further charge of careless riding in that near the 1050m he permitted NOBLE KAAPTIVE to shift in, taking POETIC HEIGHTS in on to ST. MALO, resulting in ST. MALO having to be checked. In respect of both charges, B. Poulus was suspended for a period of 8 meetings, to commence immediately and expire at midnight on Saturday, 13 December 2003, with the terms of suspension to be served concurrently.

KEEP THE ACE was held up for clear running in the early stages of the straight.

RACE 6: JANSZ TASMANIAN CLASSIC – 1200M

Near the 1100m SILK AND MONEY shifted in, tightening the running of EMINENCE GRISE, which resulted in EMINENCE GRISE having to be steadied. S. Seamer, the rider of SILK AND MONEY, was reprimanded and advised to exercise more care in future.

S. Seamer was further reprimanded for permitting his mount to shift in approaching the 1000m taking GOLDEN SNITCH in on to ODE TO THEE, which resulted in ODE TO THEE having to be steadied and taken out on to KEWPIE. In this incident AVON JEWEL, which was racing forward and to the outside of SILK AND MONEY, shifted in slighted which prevented S. Seamer from relieving the tightening.

G. Colless, the rider of GOLDEN SNITCH, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding in that after leaving the 200m he permitted his mount to shift out, taking AVON JEWEL out on to SILK AND MONEY, resulting in AVON JEWEL surrendering its position when racing between GOLDEN SNITCH and SILK AND MONEY. G. Colless was suspended for a period of 8 meetings to commence at midnight on Monday, 1 December, and expire at midnight on Sunday, 14 December 2003.

RACE 7: TATTERSALL'S RECOGNITION STAKES – 1600M

SPONGE BOB and GENERAL MINOLTA were slow to begin.

Near the 1400m STORMY JOE shifted in, taking PALIDAMAH in on to STRANGE CONFLICT which had to be steadied. S. Katsidis, the rider of STORMY JOE, was cautioned and advised to exercise more care when shifting ground.

ALFONSO was obliged to race wide throughout the event.

In the early stages of the straight EXPERIENCE was held up for clear running.

RAW INSTINCT had difficulty obtaining clear running until after leaving the 200m.

FOREST JIM was also held up for clear running until after leaving the 200m.

STORMY JOE was held up in the early stages of the straight.

RACE 8: HAMILTON HOTEL H'CAP – 1300M

RANCHO RHYTHM shifted out on jumping away, making contact with SLEEK ALI which had to be checked.

SIR BISC was slow to begin.

When being steadied near the 1100m, RANCHO RHYTHM got its head up and raced ungenerously and lost ground.

After leaving the 800m GLEN MONARCH raced fiercely inside the heels of RANCHO RHYTHM and approaching the 600m shifted out abruptly.

After leaving the 400m RANCHO RHYTHM shifted out abruptly to avoid the heels of FINAL DEMAND and in doing so made contact with NEW YORK NEW YORK.

When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of RUE THE SAINT, S. Galloway reported that the gelding hung in for the majority of the event. A veterinary examination of RUE THE SAINT failed to reveal any abnormality.

When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of FINAL DEMAND, S. Seamer stated that whilst he had to race three wide, FINAL DEMAND was under pressure prior to the home turn and was disappointing. A veterinary examination of FINAL DEMAND failed to reveal any abnormality and a swab sample was taken.

The Club's veterinary surgeon reported that RANCHO RHYTHM was suffering severe heat stress following the event.

ALL WINNERS AND FINAL DEMAND WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED.
