GRAND MEMORIES raced ungenerously when racing in restricted room between VICKYVAL and WILD EMBRACE, which shifted in shortly after the start after making contact with BADA BING. GRAND MEMORIES continued to race ungenerously and making the first turn shifted in, contacting ALCIPPE, causing that horse to blunder. GRAND MEMORIES made the crossing at the 600m. awkwardly, and leaving the 500m., shifted out, making contact with BADA BIG.. A veterinary examination of GRAND MEMORIES revealed the horse to have sustained lacerations inside its mouth and was shin sore in the near foreleg. Connections were requested to trial GRAND MEMORIES before racing again.

The saddle on ALCIPPE slipped shortly after the start, placing Z. Purton at a disadvantage.

RACE 3: PRINCESS TERESINA H'CAP - 1200M.

Trainer L. Mayfield-Smith was fined $50 for failing to notify B. Stewart as the rider of MOBBSEY by the prescribed time.

Following its New Zealand form being omitted from the records at Racing Services Bureau, the Chief Handicapper, Mr L. Grimmett informed stewards that INVISIBLE FORCE had been handicapped without the knowledge of its performance in New Zealand. In accordance with AR 60, trainer A. Bailey's attention was drawn to his responsibility to ensure that performances of horses racing overseas are notified to the appropriate racing authorities.

THE CAVERN CLUB, which was reluctant to proceed to the barriers, will be required to pass a further barrier test prior to being permitted to race again.

STALLMEISTER jumped inwards shortly after the start, forcing INVISIBLE FORCE in on to CABARITA COUNTY, which made contact with ZIPPY EYED.

Approaching the first turn, THE CAVERN CLUB got its head up and raced ungenerously, and leaving the 1000m., shifted in and brushed the hind quarters of ROAR POWER. THE CAVERN CLUB then became unbalanced and shifted out, taking MONTEAL BEAU out on to BRINY WAG, which clipped heels and blundered. ZIPPY EYED, which was racing on the outside of BRINY WAG, was also checked in this incident and taken out on to CABARITA COUNTY which was forced wide. The connections of THE CAVERN CLUB, which raced untractably, were advised that the horse would be required to trial satisfactorily before racing again.

When the pace slowed approaching the first turn, COGNISANT shifted out off the heels of QUADRANGLE, taking LOCAL wider on the track. BERNY TO and SUPERSTAR ARIES were also inconvenienced in this incident.

Byrne stated that the horse was inclined to race greenly, and after being eased wider on the home turn by QUADRANGLE, which shifted out to improve, BRIEFING seemed to lose interest in racing. He added that, in his opinion, the horse appeared to be very immature. Stable foreperson Mr L. Curr was unable to offer any excuse for the horse. A veterinary examination of BRIEFING following the race failed to reveal any abnormality and a swab sample was taken. A further veterinary examination after the horse had been swabbed and had cooled down, revealed the horse to be lame in the off hind leg.
