K. Pope, rider of ENCHELLE, was charged with careless riding, in that near the 350m he allowed his mount to shift out, making heavy contact with HERE’S THE END (M. Morris), which resulted in HERE’S THE END becoming unbalanced and shifting out, losing ground. In this incident, RULE BY RIGHT (S. Galloway), which was following, was hampered and obliged to alter course. After considering the defence put forward by jockey Pope, the charge was not sustained when stewards could not be entirely satisfied that the shift outwards by ENCHELLE was as a result of K. Pope’s actions.

Near the 150m, RULE BY RIGHT (S. Galloway) and HERE’S THE END (M. Morris) brushed.

A post race veterinary examination of FAT QUARTERS failed to reveal any abnormalities.
