BARCLAYS (J. Taylor) was slow to begin.

BARCLAYS overraced in the middle stages.

When questioned regarding the seemingly improved performance of LA ZEEL as compared with its previous start trainer L. Kelly stated on that occasion, rider Ken Pope was forced to make use of the mare in the early stages from the wide gate in order to take up its customary leading position and the horse then overraced for a major portion of the race and compounded over the concluding stages. L. Kelly added that the addition of rings to the gear of the horse and the fact that jockey J. Byrne did not have to make use of the mare in the early stages were contributing factors to the improved performance.

DUBAI OASIS (O. Turpin) was also caught wide on the first turn and raced wide throughout.

When questioned regarding WORTH DOING settling further back in the field today as compared to the horse’s normal pattern of racing on the pace, J. Byrne stated that the gelding began awkwardly and as horses to his outside possessed pace, he elected to ease his mount rather than bustle it and making use of it to occupy a position on the pace. He added that WORTH DOING settled further back in the field than he had anticipated as a result of runners from out wide crossing. A post race veterinary examination of the gelding revealed it to have sustained abrasions to the off fore pastern.

Scriven), after initially shifting in and making contact with NOTRE AMOUR (C. McIver), again shifted in as a result of pressure to its hind quarters, resulting in MR DOYLE (J. Byrne) being tightened for room between NOTRE AMOUR and CERTAIN MAGIC and blundering. In the circumstances, stewards were of the opinion that no blame could be attributed to any horse or rider.

BASE DANCER (D. Sparks) raced wide for the majority of the race.
