Jockey C. Reith was reprimanded for failing to provide a medical clearance.

M. Cahill, rider of SANDERSON, was reprimanded regarding his whip use under the provisions of AR137A(5), for using his whip on more than 3 consecutive strides in the last 200m.

Race 1: The Prop House QTIS 3yo H'cap - 1000m
1st – Purr Of Glory 2nd – Fleet ‘N’ Fast 3rd – Dancingwithangels 4th – Hombre Warrior

Following this race, S. Katsidis, rider of the 3rd placegetter, DANCINGWITHANGELS, exercised his right to view the stewards’ patrol film over the final 200 metres to ascertain whether he had grounds to lodge an objection against the 2nd placegetter, Fleet ‘N’ Fast. After viewing the footage, S. Katsidis did not proceed further.

At a subsequent inquiry, S. Katsidis reported that near the 250m he positioned DANCINGWITHANGELS into what was a tight run between HOMBRE WARRIOR (A. Spinks) and FLEET ‘N’ FAST (A. Pattillo) and as a result the shoulder of his mount made contact with the hind quarters of HOMBRE WARRIOR, resulting in that horse becoming unbalanced and tightening his running. S. Katsidis added he was then forced to take hold of his mount. He further stated that the run between HOMBRE WARRIOR and FLEET ‘N’ FAST then became available shortly after, however closed due to both horses shifting ground.

LOVE A SEQUALO (L. Cassidy) and BURNS BRIGHT (A. Erhart) were slow to begin.

ARCUP (C. McIver) and PROMO GIRL (M. Speers) made contact on several occasions leaving the 700m.

Passing the 500m RED VINNIE (L. Rolls), when racing greenly, shifted out, making contact with DANCINGWITHANGELS (S. Katsidis).

BEVAGNA (K. Pope), ARCUP (C. McIver) and LIGHTSTAR (R. Wiggins) all hung out rounding the home turn.

R. Wiggins, rider of LIGHTSTAR, reported that the horse had a tendency to lay out and as a result he was obliged to position LIGHTSTAR back and wide on the track. R. Wiggins further added that LIGHT STAR continued to hang out and only finished the race off fairly and, in his opinion, had come to the end of its preparation.

A post race veterinary examination of PROMO GIRL revealed the filly to be mildly lame in the near foreleg. Connections were advised that a veterinary clearance would be required for PROMO GIRL prior to its next race start.

Race 2: Birdee Num Num Maiden Plate – 1400m
1st – Golden Kid 2nd – Silent Movie/Alpha Town – 4th – Jess Sar Belle

ALPHA TOWN (J. Bowditch) was tightened for room on jumping away between GO GERRY (L. Rolls) and SCARYHEART (L. Cheshire), both of which shifted ground.

DRAWN TO DUBAI (J. Byrne) and SAM’S CROSSING (M. Cahill) made contact on jumping away.

ISLAND ROSE (C. McIver), which was a little slow to begin, was tightened for room shortly after the start between EASY KNIGHT (B. Pengelly) and GOLDEN KID (M. Hellyer), which was taken in by THE ENEMY WITHIN (S. Bogenhuber).

Near the 1200m, DRAWN TO DUBAI and THE ENEMY WITHIN made contact.

SHADOW BUSTER (B. Stewart) raced in restricted room for a short distance leaving the 300m when endeavouring to obtain clear running between JESS SAR BELLE and TROUBLED (D. Browne). Shortly after, SHADOW BUSTER had to be steadied when further cramped for room between TROUBLED, which shifted out slightly, and JESS SAR BELLE, which shifted in.

DUBACHI (S. Galloway) and SYRIAN SON (M. Speers) raced wide for the majority of the event.

TROUBLED lost its near hind plate in running.

When questioned regarding the performance of DRAWN TO DUBAI, J. Byrne stated that the horse after being tardily away got back further than he would have liked and overraced for a major portion of the race. He felt that its effort over the concluding stages, taking into account that it had overraced, had merit and he was not entirely disappointed with the performance of the mare. A post race veterinary examination of DRAWN TO DUBAI failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.

Race 3: Unitab NMW H'cap - 1800m
1st – D’Elcatraz 2nd – Our Mr Stilts 3rd – Siong Tee 4th – Iluva Queenslander

SIONG TEE (A. Pattillo) jumped away awkwardly and shifted out, taking FOND BOND (J. Taylor) out on to AMERICAN GANGSTER (S. Katsidis), which in turn shifted out, taking ILUVA QUEENSLANDER (M. Cahill) on to SHUFFLE THE CASH (S. Seamer), which had to be steadied.

Near the 300m, COCKAIGNE (B. Stewart) shifted out to obtain clear running and in doing so forced NO TECHNIQUE (L. Rolls) across the heels of FOND BOND, resulting in NO TECHNIQUE having to be steadied. B. Stewart, rider of COCKAIGNE, was severely reprimanded.

Passing the 200m, the tiring BALD EAGLE (K. Pope) had to be checked when racing between COCKAIGNE, which shifted out, and AMERICAN GANGSTER (S. Katsidis), which shifted in under pressure. S. Katsidis, rider of AMERICAN GANGSTER, was reprimanded and advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.

When questioned regarding the performance of SHUFFLE THE CASH, jockey S. Seamer stated that after receiving interference at the start, the gelding, in his opinion, lost concentration in the middle stages of the event and was reluctant to travel. He further added that due to the horse previously exhibiting a reluctance to race inside horses he attempted to improve his position around ROCK RAVE leaving the 700m, however ROCK RAVE shifted out, taking him extremely wide on the track. S. Seamer stated that SHUFFLE THE CASH only finished the race off fairly and in his opinion proved somewhat disappointing.

RANGEFIRE bled from both nostrils during the event. Trainer D. Hansen was advised that the gelding would now be barred from racing for a period of 3 months.

Race 4: St John Entertainment CG&E NMW H'cap - 1200m
1st – Chaski 2nd – Manoloblahniks 3rd –Bradfield 4th – Centennial Son

The start of this race was delayed due to DR BARNARD requiring farrier attention on its arrival at the barriers.

CHASKI (C. McIver) jumped away awkwardly and shifted in, making contact with BRADFIELD (J. Byrne).

When questioned regarding the seemingly improved performance of CHARSKI, trainer L. Birchley stated that the horse raced very fresh at its first-up run on 29 July 2009 and as a result tired over the concluding stages of that race. L. Birchley added that CHARSKI had taken improvement from that run and believed that the horse was suited by the pattern of today’s race. The explanation was noted.

A post race veterinary examination of DR BARNARD revealed the gelding to be suffering from cardiac arrhythmia. Trainer J. Wallace was advised that DR BARNARD must trial satisfactorily, and that he must provide the results of an ECG prior to its next race start.
Race 5: Subiaco Hair F&M NMW H'cap – 1200m
1st –Linear 2nd – Fasliyev Dancer 3rd – Beautiful 4th – Academy Pride

GETYOUROWN was declared a late scratching at 2.39 pm after the mare became cast in the barrier stalls. Subsequent to the event, all monies invested on GETYOUROWN were ordered to be refunded, with deductions of 4 cents in the dollar on the face value of win bets, 5 cents in the dollar on the face value of place bets. Trainer P. Cunningham was advised that he must provide 2 barrier certificates for GETYOUROWN prior to its next race start.

Jockey L. Cassidy reported to stewards that shortly after entering the straight he became concerned with the action of BROOKIE BABE and therefore he did not test the mare down the straight in his customary fashion. A post race veterinary examination of BROOKIE BABE failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Trainer K. Schweida advised stewards that he intended to spell BROOKIE BABE immediately and undertook to trial it before resuming racing.

Apprentice B. Looker reported that the saddle on FRISCO MISS shifted back shortly after the start. He added that this resulted in him being unable to test the horse in his usual fashion, particularly approaching the finish line where his saddle rolled slightly.

Race 6: Schweppervesence Open H'cap - 1500m
1st – Secrets Untold 2nd – Thin And Crispy 3rd – Onalar 4th - Pentacity

FOOLISH (A. Best) was slow to begin.

FELIXTRINIDAD (B. Stewart) overraced in the early stages.

Leaving the 400m, MASTER DENIS (G. Colless) raced in restricted room for a short distance between SECRETS UNTOLD (S. Katsidis) and ZILZIE (B. Pengelly), which shifted in.

A post race veterinary examination of FOOLISH revealed the horse to have bled from one nostril. Stewards advised trainer Mr M. Webb that the horse must satisfy the requirements of AR53(A)(7) before racing again.

Race 7: Family Nightclub Quality H'cap - 1300m
1st – Court Command 2nd – Sommersea Drive 3rd – German Chocolate 4th – Cocktail Supreme

BITABIFF was declared a late scratching at 7.43 am on veterinary advice.

MORNING COLOURS (S. Galloway) was slow to begin.

Leaving the 700m, COCKTAIL SUPREME (K. Pope) raced ungenerously at the heels of GERMAN CHOCOLATE (G. Colless) and had to be restrained by its rider.

Race 8: Lyndhurst Stud Class 6 H'cap - 1400m
1st – Topkapi Palace 2nd – Eddie Rapido 3rd – Paralegal 4th – Kentish Rose

Shortly after the start, ICEDANE (S. Drake) shifted in and made contact with PARALEGAL (S. Galloway). As a result, ICEDANE then shifted out, making contact with MONTOUX (B. El-Issa, forcing that horse out, resulting in GAG ORDER (C. McIver) and THE CAVERN CLUB (A. Pattillo) having to be checked. GAG ORDER then overraced during the middle stages.

Near the 1000m, GREY EXPECTATIONS (L. Cheshire), which was overracing, shifted out off the heels of PARALEGAL (S. Galloway), taking ICEDANE out on to KENTISH ROSE (L. Cassidy).

Leaving the 1000m, MONTOUX (B. El-Issa) shifted in, taking PARALEGAL (S. Galloway) in on to EDDIE RAPIDO (J. Taylor), which had to be steadied.

EDDIE RAPIDO was momentarily held up rounding the home turn.

When questioned regarding the performance of GAG ORDER, apprentice C. McIver stated that due to interference shortly after the start, the mare was unable to take up its customary position close to the lead and, in his opinion, this was a major contributor to the horse’s somewhat poor performance. A post race veterinary examination of GAG ORDER failed to reveal any abnormalities.
