Race 1: Emerald Printing Class 4 Handicap- 1000 metres

NERANGATANG was inspected by the Veterinarian Officer and Stewards declared the mare a late scratching on veterinary advice at 12.45pm. Trainer R Higginbotham was advised that a veterinary certificate would be required prior to the mares next start. No deductions were required.
No racing incidents.
Race 2: Mobile Radio Solutions Maiden Plate- 1200 metres
1st Ohio Babe 2nd Kuda Rock 3rd Sundays Girl 4th- Pegunny Chief
SUNDAYS GIRL (S McGovern) jumped awkwardly and raced wide in the early and middle stages.
Race 3: Qantas Link Class 2 Handicap- 1200 metres
1st– Merry Miss 2nd – Tuscan Image 3rd Charmingly 4th- Classy Franky
TUSCAN IMAGE (M Cant) was slow away.
FINE FINISH (A Lane) jumped awkwardly out onto MERRY MISS (N Patchett).
GENERAL BIRDWOOD (M Barnham) raced wide throughout.
At the 900 metres, CLASSY FRANKY (T O’Hara) over raced and when restrained MERRY MISS was steadied resulting in MONASHEE STAR (S McGovern) being eased off heels of MERRY MISS.
Trainer N Coyne was questioned regarding the improved performance of MERRY MISS. He stated that the horse did not appreciate the harder track surface in Mackay and also that the filly got back further than anticipated on that occasion. He further stated that the dead surface and being positioned more forward had contributed to today's win. Stewards noted his explanation.
Race 4: XXXX Open Handicap - 1200 metres
1st Dashing Doll 2nd Sobeit 3rd Albert’s Image 4th – Tszyu
At the request of the Trainers Representative ALBERT’S IMAGE was inspected by the Veterinarian and passed fit to start.
GENERAL NONSENSE refused to load and was declared a late scratching by Stewards at 3:36pm. Deductions were 25c Win and 24c Place. Trainer R Hay was advised that the gelding must pass a barrier jumpout prior to its next start.
GUDUNOV (M Cant) jumped awkwardly
Apprentice A Taylor was questioned regarding the performance of ALBERT’S IMAGE. She stated that her instructions were to ride the gelding with cover in a handy position in the early and middle stages and place the horse under pressure. She further stated the gelding found the line well. Stewards noted her explanation.
Race 5: Emerald Cabin & Caravan Village Class B Handicap- 1615 metres
1st Three Fingers 2nd Chicken Dinner 3rd Tuscan Lass 4th- Jedilad
When Jockey A Lane was unable to fulfil his riding engagement he was replaced by D Philpot. Jockey A Lane was advised that a medical certificate would be required prior to his next riding engagements.
When Jockey S McGovern was to be overweight, he was replaced by D Philpot. Jockey S McGovern was fined $150 AR120(b).
TINKERMAN (M Cant) stood flat footed and lost considerable ground. Trainer H Forster was informed that a warning had been placed on the gelding.
THREE FINGERS (T O’Hara) was slow away.
PIPELINER (S Sheargold) raced wide early.
LE TOUR DE FRANCE (M Barnham) raced wide throughout.
