SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT- Mackay 18th September 2014

Trainer T Cook reported that DAMN GOOD IDEA had suffered a tendon injury to its off fore. The gelding would now be spelled. Mr Cook advised that a veterinary certificate would be required prior to its next start.

Race 1: Ryco 24.7 CQ 3YO Handicap- 1100 metres
1st Clappers 2nd Jamaica Dollar 3rd Siede Track 4th- Little White Dove

TARA’S RANSOM - As S. Sheargold was to be overweight, C. Pye was substituted as the rider. S. Sheargold was reprimanded. In considering penalty, stewards took into account the circumstances and his good record. Jumped outwards at the start and bumped.

WAR DRAKE - Sprung its near hind plate when presented to the enclosure. Subsequently the plate was refitted before leaving the enclosure. Raced wide throughout

LOOKSLIKERAIN - Bumped at start.

LITTLE WHITE DOVE - Slow to begin.

HIDDEN BEACH- Slow to begin.

JAMAICA DOLLAR - Laid out under pressure near the 100m and made contact with the hind quarters of another runner.

SEIDE TRACK - Bumped and became unbalanced near the 100m.

Race 2: CQ News/ Hot FM Maiden Handicap- 1200 metres
1st Hayyler’s Hell 2nd Say My Name 3rd Dragon Gold 4th- Pezula

I’LL GO IF HUGO - Proved difficult to load. Jumped awkwardly and outwards when the start was effected and lost ground. Bumped and forced wider near the 400m.

MR HARPER - Laid in near the 900m, causing another runner to ease.

PEZULA - Eased near the 900m. Shifted out approaching the 400m and bumped another runner. Jockey L. Attard was reprimanded. In issuing a reprimand only, stewards took into account the racing manners of MISS SO GOOD and ROUGH AND RECKLESS.

MISS SO GOOD - Bumped near the 400m, overreacted and shifted outwards. Trainer reported that the horse returned to scale with its tongue over the bit. He advised it was his intention to add a tongue-tie to the gear of the horse for its next race start.

ROUGH AND RECKLESS - Restrained near the 400m and shifted out abruptly, bumping another runner.

Race 3: Onesteel Metalcentre Handicap- 1200 metres
1st Powerful Jet 2nd Schoorwin 3rd Beautiful Timing 4th- Mayor Of Clonmel

BEAUTIFUL TIMING - Correct weight was delayed to allow rider T. O’Hara and trainer J. Wehlow to view the photo finish print for second. Subsequently, correct weight was semaphored on the Judge’s placings.

POWERFUL JET - Began a little awkwardly.

BESEECH - Raced wide throughout. Inquiry regarding the performance. Apprentice T. Williams stated that the horse failed to travel comfortably when racing back in the field, and when shifted wider to improve, failed to respond to her riding. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

Race 4: Bentleys (Qld) Pty Ltd Class 2 Handicap - 1200 metres
1st Thunda Cookie 2nd Khaantantes 3rd Strada Title 4th- Craiglea Seal

CRAIGLEA SEAL - Slow into stride.

BOYS SPLURGE - A little slow to begin.

COURTMAN - A little slow to begin.

ZABEELZEBUB - Began awkwardly and lost some ground.

PEARL FISH - Bumped near the 1100m. Apprentice L. Attard reported his saddle shifted forward on jumping away, which placed him in difficulties when racing wide throughout.

MOSCOW - Shifted out near the 1100m causing a tightening.

KHAANTANTES - Tightened near the 1100m. Awkwardly placed at heels near the 400 and held up momentarily.

Race 5: Ensham BM65 Handicap- 1000 metres
1st Ceccuzzi 2nd Baracca 3rd Unseen 4th- Both Ears

VELONMAARA - Bumped at the start.

LET IT SNOW - Bumped at the start.

BOTH EARS - Began awkwardly.

UNSEEN - Began awkwardly.

EIGHT PIECES - Stood flatfooted at the start and lost some ground. Improved and checked from heels near the 600m

TYPHOON - Raced wide for the majority of the race. Inquiry into performance. Jockey J. Geppert advised the mare began well, however was inclined to change stride throughout and was of the opinion the horse had failed to back up from its win the previous week. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.

BARACCA - Improved onto heels near the 600m and was steadied.

RAHULA - Raced wide throughout.

Race 6: Reserve Group BM60 Handicap- 1615 metres
1st Leo’s Spirit 2nd Castledale Lad 3rd My Fling 4th- Sir Stanley

FICKLE BUSINESS - Began awkwardly and was slow into stride.

MY FLING - Laid in shortly after the start and had to be steadied from heels.

EL GALGO - Inquiry into performance. Jockey M. Barnham advised that the horse over raced in the early stages however travelled well for the remainder of the race. He added that when runners to his outside improved approaching the home turn he was held up on heels, however once able to obtain clear running in the straight his mount failed to finish the race off. M. Barnham believed that the 61 kilogram impost may have been a contributing factor to the performance. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.

FEROCITY BLUE - Raced 3 wide throughout.

Race 7: Aggreko/Devcon Building Co Country Qld Showcase Emerald 100 Handicap- 1850 metres
1st - Castle Express 2nd - Coco Dubawi 3rd - A Dependant 4th- Oforawesome

CASTLE EXPRESS - Bounded in the air on jumping away.

OFORAWESOME - Slow to begin, and then improved wide from the 500m.
