RACE 1 – DEVER’S GOLD (TWO-YEARS-OLD) MAIDEN HANDICAP – 1,200 METRES
L’AURIOLE was slowly away.
Stewards questioned N DAY (L’AURIOLE) after his mount finished well beaten. He explained that at no stage did his mount handle today’s heavy track conditions and indeed, near the 500 metres dipped quite badly.
RACE 2 – PACIFIC CROSSING MAIDEN HANDICAP – 1,300 METRES
Approaching the 200 metres K MAHONEY (ANIMATE) dropped his whip.
RACE 3 – BOISTEROUS LADY MAIDEN HANDICAP – 1,800 METRES
Due to the downgrading of the track to “slow”, stewards permitted the late withdrawal of TOP RUN at 10:53 a.m.
Trainer G RYAN was fined $25 for failing to present DELACROIX in all of its approved gear.
For a major part of the straight BAY OF TIME had difficulty in obtaining clear running.
RACE 4 – MY RHYTHMIC DANCER WELTER – 1,800 METRES
As SPY MISSION currently has a “heavy” track bar, the gelding was subsequently withdrawn at 11:24 a.m.
RACE 5 – MADAM ZOFFANY (CLASS 3) HANDICAP – 900 METRES
Stewards permitted the withdrawal of ACE RULE at 11:30 a.m. due to the downgrading of the track to “heavy”.
G DOUGHTY (PRINCE KWILA) reported after the race that once he put his mount under pressure leaving the 600 metres it failed to handle today’s heavy track conditions.
RACE 6 – GUILDED QUEEN (CLASS 4) HANDICAP – 1,300 METRES
A COWIE (KIRIN GUY) was issued with a reprimand for failing to ride his mount out to the line at least hands and heels.
Approaching the 200 metres S CAMPTON (RIVER PRINCE) dropped his whip.
After the running of this race the stewards again inspected the track and came to the decision that due to the state of the track and continuing inclement weather conditions it was no longer safe for racing and therefore the remainder of the meeting was abandoned.
RACE 7 – LADY NICKELII – (CLASS 1) HANDICAP – 1,300 METRES
Stewards permitted the late withdrawal of WINGS AWAY (11:30 a.m.), IDEALISTIC (10:40 a.m.) and PULMAN’S RETREAT (12:30 p.m.) due to the track being downgraded to “heavy”.
RACE 8 –RAIDERETTE (CLASS 2) HANDICAP – 1,800 METRES
Stewards permitted the late withdrawal of AL SECONDA at 3:00 p.m. due to the track being downgraded to “heavy”.
