Race 1: Independent Forklift Services (3yo & Upwards Maiden) H’cap – 1000m.
1st – Orpen Rose 2nd – Hunter Dane 3rd – Eight Bucks A Hit 4th – Hard to Dodge
IMMIGRANT (S Campton) jumped away awkwardly.
BALLY’S IMAGE (G McCarthy) was slow to begin.
App. S Nakamura (ORPEN ROSE) was reprimanded for the manner in which he steadied his mount after crossing to the lead at the 900m which caused HUNTER DANE (S Shield) to have to steady off the heels of ORPEN ROSE.
Approaching the 600m HARD TO DODGE (D Griffin) over-raced.
Nearing the 200m EIGHT BUCKS A HIT (App. M Palmer) was inclined to lay in under pressure.
Race 2: Gold Coast Airport Limited (2yo Maiden) H’cap – 900m.
1st – Sashenka 2nd – Tribal Choice 3rd – Stunning 4th - Firedrake
TRIBAL CHOICE (P Hammersley) and MOLLYCAT (G McCarthy) came together on jumping away.
STUNNING (S Shield) reared as the gates were opened.
SASHENKA (C Whiteley) moved out to improve leaving the 600m forcing FIGURE THAT (S Campton) wider on the track.
FIREDRAKE (D Griffin) shifted ground under pressure approaching the 200m.
SASHENKA shied approaching the finish.
R Martin reported that TURN IT ON failed to handle the prevailing track conditions.
Race 3: Orocon Accountants Three Years Old & Upwards Class 2 H’cap – 900m.
1st – Nawaaf 2nd – Sprintcar 3rd - Panama Jack 4th - Kingsfield
Approaching the 700m NAWAAF (D Griffin) shifted in bumping PANAMA JACK (App. M Palmer).
Race 4: Sofitel Gold Coast (Maiden) H’cap – 1400m.
1st – Cable Hogue 2nd – In No Danger 3rd – The Marshall Star 4th – Came Rippin
DITZY (App. M Palmer) jumped away awkwardly and shifted out.
Shortly after the start HAPPINESS ABOUND (App. S Nakamura) had to be steadied off the heels of LEICA KOORDA (P Hammersley) after being forced out by IT’SONLYMONEYHONEY (D Barron).
Approaching the 800m IT’SONLYMONEYHONEY commenced to over-race and had to be steadied off the heels of COOMA CREEK (G McCarthy). HAPPINESS ABOUND which was following had to be steadied and shifted out.
IN NO DANGER (C Whiteley) over-raced in the early stages.
IN NO DANGER was caught racing wide for the majority of the event.
DITZY shifted out under pressure over the final 300m of the event.
R Martin rider of CAME RIPPIN returned to scale complaining of soreness to his right knee and was subsequently stood down by the Club’s Doctor.
Race 5: McLauchlan & Partners (Class 3) H’cap – 1400m.
1st – Can Man 2nd – Waltz to Glory 3rd – Clangover 4th – Bridge to Victory
WALTZ TO GLORY (C Whiteley) and DIME (S Shield) came together on jumping away.
Leaving the 800m WALTZ TO GLORY which was over-racing improved up on to the heels of DIME (S Shield) and was steadied and shifted out forcing CAN MAN (D Barron) wider.
Race 6: Reinforced Concrete Pipes (Qld) Pty Ltd (Fillies and Mares Class 1) H’cap – 1200m.
1st – She Shiraz 2nd – Passagemaker 3rd – Involve 4th – Maya Magic
JAMPOR DREAMER (B Payne) jumped away awkwardly.
When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of AMARANTHINE, App. M Palmer advised that the filly failed to handle the prevailing track conditions.
Race 7: Orocon Accountants (Colts, Geldings & Entires Class 1) H’cap – 1200m.
1st – South of the River 2nd – Red Meshach 3rd – City Lights 4th – Street Parade
As R Martin was indisposed through injury, Stewards permitted K Banks to be replaced as the rider of MIGHTY CANNY.
Shortly after the start THE ROMP (S Campton) shifted in and made contact with CAPTAIN LIGHTNING (D Griffin).
At the 1100m HESWEEPSAWAY (G McCarthy) shifted out making contact with SOUTH OF THE RIVER (D Green).
Approaching the finish RED MESHACH (P Hammersley) shifted out under pressure and brushed SOUTH OF THE RIVER.
When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of CAPTAIN LIGHTNING, Jockey D Griffin advised that the gelding failed to handle the prevailing track conditions.
Race 8: Professional Investment Services (QTIS 3yo Class 3 set weights) Plate – 1200m.
1st – Ghetto Blaster 2nd – Hear Ye 3rd – Sweet Joseshee 4th – Send A Text
HEAR YE (C Whiteley) and GHETTO BLASTER (D Griffin) jumped away awkwardly.
IT’S IN HER EYES (S Shield) and RATINGS WINNERS (P Hammersley) came together on jumping away.
Approaching the 800m SEND A TEXT (S Campton) shifted out forcing RATINGS WINNER out on to IT’S IN HER EYES which became unbalanced.
