SUPPLEMENTARY REPORTS:

From Gold Coast Turf Club 7 April 2007 – Race 7

M. Bennett the rider of FISSILE was fined the sum of $1,000.00 under the provisions of AR137(b) for failing to ride his mount out to the finishing line.


Race 1: Hot Tomato Two-Years-Old Maiden H’Cap – 900m.
1st – Acquired 2nd – Runaway Fund 3rd – Golden Bite 4th – Lady Illusion

Trainer M. Mair was fined the sum of $100.00 for late declaration of rider for HIBISCUS BEACH.

HIBISCUS BEACH (O. Turpin), FLECKED MARBLE (T. Pannell), LADY ILLUSION (D. Green) and ACQUIRED (App P. Wells) were all tightened on jumping away between DEE’S STASH (M. Bennett) and LET THERE BE ROCK (N. Day) both of which shifted ground. In this incident both FLECKED MARBLE and LADY ILLUSION had to be checked.

LET THERE BE ROCK overraced in the early stages.

T. Treichel the rider of RUNAWAY FUND was found guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR137(a) in that he allowed his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of LA ZAHA (D. Tanti) and LADY GREY (D. Griffin) near the 700m resulting in those horses being tightened for racing room. T. Treichel’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 7 meetings to commence midnight 25 April 2007 and to expire midnight 10 May 2007.

SONAR (J. Lowe) and LET THERE BE ROCK came together and brushed leaving the 400m.

HIBISCUS BEACH was held up in the early stages of the straight.

DEE’S STASH was inclined to lay in under pressure over the final 300m.



Race 2: Allied Hospitality Colts, Geldings & Entires Maiden H’Cap – 1300m.
1st – Bercy 2nd – Clambang 3rd – Impartiality 4th – Tax Evasion

BERCY (N. Day) which began awkwardly was tightened for room shortly after between DANGINERO (A. Erhart) and TAX EVASION (D. Griffin) which shifted ground.

MERCURIUS (P. Graham) began awkwardly.

TAX EVASION overraced when leading in the early and middle stages.

Approaching the 600m MERCURIUS improved up onto the heels of CLAMBANG (D. Barron) and had to be steadied.

CLAMBANG and BERCY came together and bumped on 3 occasions over the final 300m.

IMPARTIALITY (T. Pannell) shifted out abruptly leaving the 200m.



Race 3: United Financial Services Fillies & Mares Maiden H’Cap – 1300m.
1st – Ditzy 2nd – Little Imp 3rd – Sandinista 4th - Starelie

App D. Carrigg the rider of GRACEMERE was fined the sum of $200.00 under AR92(12) for failing to claim her full allowance.

ALEMBIC (App L. Rolls) was tightened on jumping away between SANDINISTA (D. Barron) which shifted out and OUR TINTOLA (App P. Wells) which was taken in by STARELIE (D. Tanti).

OUR KYNISKA (D. Green), STARELIE and SECRET SOCIETY (N. Day) all overraced in the early stages.

Leaving the 900m EXANTHEIA (App M. Hackett) improved up onto the heels of ALEMBIC and had to be steadied.

Steward questioned L. Morrison (SONGSTAR) and D. Green (OUR KYNISKA) regarding the reason for D. Green almost being unseated near the 600m. After taking evidence from all riders concerned and acting on their own observations, stewards did not hold any rider responsible but reminded L. Morrison of her obligations to provide sufficient racing room. In this incident D. Green dropped his whip.

Leaving the 400m DITZY (D. Griffin) was tightened for room and had to be steadied by LITTLE IMP (App T. Chambers) which shifted in. App T. Chambers was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.

Approaching the 200m App M. Hackett the rider of EXANTHEIA accidentally lost control of his near side rein for a short distance.

L. Morrison the rider of SONGSTAR was fined the sum of $100.00 under AR137(b) for failing to ride her mount out to the finish of the event.

Correct weight was delayed after App M. Hackett rider of EXANTHEIA made an application that he was denied a fair start. After taking evidence from App M. Hackett and starter Mr S. Andrews stewards were satisfied that EXANTHEIA lost ground at the start as a result of it’s own racing characteristics and therefore was declared a runner.



Race 4: The Beach Hotel Class 2 H’Cap – 1800m.
1st – Boisterous Boy 2nd – Stentorian 3rd – Ocean Treasure 4th – Grand Corso

Acting on veterinary advice KELVIN’S CALL was a late withdrawal at 11.50 a.m. Trainer B. Bowditch was advised that he must provide a veterinary certificate of fitness before the horse races again.

BOISTEROUS BOY (G. Palmer) began awkwardly.

BOISTEROUS BOY overraced in the early stages of the event.

BLACKBETTYBAMBALAM (T. Treichel) was caught wide in the early and middle stages of the event and raced wide over the final 700m.

Approaching the 1000m BEAU GLASS (N. Day) was inconvenienced when tightened for room when racing on the inside of OCEAN TREASURE (D. Green) which laid in.

BOISTEROUS BOY was inclined to lay in under pressure over the final 300m and near the finish of the event shifted in tightening OCEAN TREASURE onto STENTORIAN (App M. Palmer).

UTAH RED (App L. Rolls) was inclined to shift out under pressure over the final 300m.

23/04/07 - Trainer M. Thexton contacted Stewards to advise that GRAND CORSO has pulled up lame in the near-fore leg. Ms. Thexton was advised that a veterinary certificate of fitness must be produced before the horse again races.

Race 5: Mark McHugh Body Works Class 6 H’Cap – 900m.
1st – The Hammer 2nd – Conrod Straight 3rd – The Chanster 4th – D/Heat Sammys Illusion and
Regal Event

DOUBLE LINEAGE (P. Graham) and REGAL EVENT (T. Treichel) came together on jumping away.

SAMMYS ILLUSION (App A. Winfield) raced wide for the majority of the event.

CONROD STRAIGHT (App L. Rolls) was held up for clear running rounding the home turn until inside the final 100m.

An inquiry was opened into an incident in the stable area involving licensees S. Ryan and C. Wearne. After taking evidence from a number of parties the inquiry was adjourned to the offices of Queensland Racing on Tuesday 24 April 2007.


Race 6: Retail Food Group Class 2 H’Cap – 1000m.
1st – Nostrum 2nd – Whatever It Takes 3rd – Jay Low Girl 4th – Sharna Myst

BRINGELLY (T. Treichel) was slow to begin resulting in that horse losing valuable ground.

FLAGZUP (App D. Carrigg) and WHATEVER IT TAKES (P. Graham) both raced wide for the majority of the event.

Near the 500m SHARNA MYST (App P. Wells) and KALINGA KATE (App M. Hackett) came together when SHARNA MYST shifted out to improve.

OSCA’S RIGHT (A. Merritt) and BRINGELLY were both held up for clear running in the early stages of the straight.



Race 7: Mermaid Beach Tavern QTIS 3YO Class 3 Plate – 1400m.
1st – Showify 2nd – Mr Slick 3rd – Thorondo 4th – Shobelle

BANG THE CASTLE (App D. Carrigg) began awkwardly.

IN A HEARTBEAT (App P. Wells) was tightened shortly after the start between MR SLICK (N. Day) and SHOWIFY (P. Graham) which shifted in.

THORONDO (K. Pope) overraced in the early stages of the event and leaving the 1200m shifted out taking SHOBELLE (T. Treichel), SHOWIFY and IN A HEARTBEAT (App P. Wells) wider on the track.

THORONDO continued to overrace until approaching the 900m.

BANG THE CASTLE overraced and pulled hard in the early and middle stages of the event.

IN A HEARTBEAT was caught racing 3 wide for the majority of the event.

THORONDO was inclined to hang out over the final 400m.





Race 8: Hot Tomato Class 3 H’Cap – 1300m.
1st- Bareena 2nd – Mardi Magrar 3rd – Bear’s Command 4th - Tag

STAR OF ALASKA (L. Morrison) and GEETEEHAYCHO (S. Campton) came together and brushed on jumping away.

DANE’S JESTER (P. Graham) was caught wide for the majority of the event.

Leaving the 900m FEROCIOUS (App L. Rolls) was tightened for room between DANE’S JESTER which shifted in and TAG (D. Green) which shifted out to improve.
