Race 1: Hallmark Business Sales Maiden H’Cap – 1400m.
1st – Our Hawk 2nd – Rhythmic Affair 3rd – Grande Vargue 4th – Cantley Lane
GRANDE VARGUE (N. Evans) was tightened on jumping away between RHYTHMIC AFFAIR (C. Whiteley) and READ MY LIPS (T. Treichel) both of which shifted ground.
CANTLEY LANE (W. Pearson) was inclined to lay in under pressure over the final 200m.
When questioned regarding her failure to ride her mount out to the finish of the event K. Purdy advised she was concerned with the horse’s action and as a result eased the horse down over the final 60m. A postrace veterinary examination of COOL IT KELLY failed to reveal any abnormality.
Race 2: Gold Coast Airport Maiden H’Cap – 900m.
1st – Hail Free 2nd – Slugsbrothernugget 3rd – Highly Chic 4th – Ancient Crown
CA PLANE POUR MOI (App S. Holcombe) which reared after becoming fractious in the barriers was declared a late withdrawal at 12.57 p.m. by order of stewards acting on veterinary advice. Prior to the announcement of correct weight all monies invested on CA PLANE POUR MOI were ordered to be refunded. All winning bets were ordered to be paid less 7 cents in the dollar for a win and 8 cents in the dollar for a place on the face value of the ticket. Trainer J. Holcombe was advised that CA PLANE POUR MOI must trial to the satisfaction of stewards before racing again.
SHINDAGHA (App C. Nicoll) was slow to begin.
ZIOZOE (W. Pearson) blundered on jumping away.
CATCHACAT (C. Whiteley) raced greenly in the early stages.
Leaving the 200m HAIL FREE (D. Craven) shifted out under pressure. HAIL FREE again shifted out badly leaving the 100m.
Race 3: Kelly Services QTIS 3YO Maiden Plate – 1800m.
1st – Fools Rush In 2nd – Encargo 3rd – Secret Society 4th – Dive At Five
SECRET SOCIETY (W. Pearson) began awkwardly.
Shortly after the start ENCARGO (D. Tanti), HETHEL (D. Barron) and HURRICANE LASS (S. Campton) were all tightened for room between THE SKIPPER (T. Treichel) and GUARA GROVE BEAST (M. Squires) which shifted out. In this incident ENCARGO lost it’s position.
FOOLS RUSH IN (D. Green) overraced when leading in the early and middle stages.
THE SKIPPER and GUARA GROVE BEAST were both caught wide in the early and middle stages.
THE SKIPPER was caught racing wide for the majority of the event.
Race 4: The Spring Waterman Colts, Geldings & Entires Class 1 H’Cap – 1200m.
1st – Rock The Roses 2nd – City Lights 3rd – Special Dawn 4th - Stooger
TELERIAN (App J. Quinnell) which refused to load was a late withdrawal at 2.09 p.m. by order of stewards. Prior to the announcement of correct weight all monies invested on TELERIAN were ordered to be refunded. All winning bets were ordered to be paid less 5 cents in the dollar for a win and 5 cents in the dollar for a place on the face value of the ticket. Trainer D. Brown was advised that TELERIAN must trial to the satisfaction of stewards before racing again.
LE MONT BLANC (W. Pearson), MARFIA HUNTER (T. Treichel) and SPECIAL DAWN (M. Heagney) were all tightened after the start between XAAREAL (App J. Clarke) and STOOGER (A. Merritt) both of which shifted ground. In this incident MARFIA HUNTER lost it’s position.
XAAREAL raced wide for the majority of the event.
LE MONT BLANC hung out from the 500m until leaving the 400m.
Race 5: Regent Taxis Class 4 H’Cap – 900m.
1st – Sequacy 2nd – Dusty Zephyr 3rd – Michelle Cafea 4th - Rotarian
ROTARIAN (W. Pearson) shifted out at the start making contact with JAY LOW GIRL (C. Whiteley).
ROTARIAN, THE DARKCEE (M. Heagney) and JAY LOW GIRL were all caught racing wide for the majority of the event.
Race 6: Surfers Paradise Rotary Mockridge Memorial Class 3 H’Cap – 1400m.
1st – Local Rules 2nd – Alpha Boy 3rd – Magique Mine 4th - Crackaway
RIGHT SPICE (D. Green) and BOISTEROUS BOY (App S. Holcombe) were tightened at the start between CRACKAWAY (D. Barron) and TAG (S. Campton) both of which shifted ground.
ANNIGONI (W. Pearson) began awkwardly.
MAGIQUE MINE (T. Treichel) shifted in at the start taking JIMIDEAN (D. Craven) in onto RIVER STREET (M. Squires).
App C. Isdale the rider of SATIN CHOICE was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under AR137(a) in that near the 1200m he allowed his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of RIVER STREET (M. Squires) which had to be checked and as a result shifted in making contact with ANNIGONI. App C. Isdale’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 7 meetings to commence midnight 16 July 2007 and expire midnight 27 July 2007 meetings
Rounding the 800m MAGIQUE MINE shifted out making contact with JIMIDEAN.
Leaving the 550m ANNIGONI laid in across the heels of LOCAL RULES (D. Griffin) and had to be steadied.
Leaving the 300m RIGHT SPICE shifted out to improve and in doing so brushed BUNDALA (D. Tanti).
Approaching the 100m TAG had to be steadied off the heels of BOISTEROUS BOY which shifted in.
Approaching the finish CRACKAWAY was tightened for room between MAGIQUE MINE and LOCAL RULES which shifted in under pressure. D. Griffin (LOCAL RULES) was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.
Race 7: Civil Pacific (Qld) Class 1 H’Cap – 1800m .
1st – Tails Are Wagging 2nd – Crystal Gayza 3rd - Foreign Capital 4th – Cee Me Now
Stewards permitted B. Swanton to be the substitute rider of AT ANCHOR as S. Campton was found to be overweight. S. Campton was fined the sum of $100.00.
THE COUTES WAY (T. Treichel) was slow to begin.
Approaching the 1700m TAILS ARE WAGGING (C. Whiteley) and HERDSMAN (D. Griffin) came together and bumped.
B. Swanton the rider of AT ANCHOR was reprimanded for allowing his mount to shift in approaching the first turn resulting in CEE ME NOW and HERDSMAN being momentarily tightened for room.
Approaching the 1400m EQUAL SIGN (App S. Holcombe) improved up onto the heels of HERDSMAN and shifted out abruptly taking DANKWILA (W. Pearson) wider on the track.
Near the 900m AT ANCHOR hung out across the heels of FOREIGN CAPITAL (D. Barron) resulting in AT ANCHOR having to be steadied. Approaching the 850m AT ANCHOR again hung out when racing on the inside of CEE ME NOW.
Stewards adjourned an inquiry into the reason for App J. Clarke being dislodged from UTHER leaving the 150m. App J. Clarke was stood down for the remainder of the day and was replaced by App L. Rolls as the rider of FORTUNATE CHOICE (Race 8).
Race 8: McLauchlan And Partners Fillies & Mares Class 1 H’Cap – 1200m.
1st – Finer Feelings 2nd – My First Affair 3rd – Niemcz 4th – Fortunate Choice
M. Thexton the trainer of MY FIRST AFFAIR was fined the sum of $100.00 for late declaration of rider
The start of this race was delayed in order for a replacement ambulance to arrive on course.
STAGECOACH LASS (App S. Holcombe) which refused to load was a late withdrawal at 4.56 p.m. by order of stewards. Prior to the announcement of correct weight all monies invested on STAGECOACH LASS were ordered to be refunded. All winning bets were ordered to be paid less 6 cents in the dollar for a win and 7 cents in the dollar for a place on the face value of the ticket. Trainer L. Birchley’s representative was advised that STAGECOACH LASS must trial to the satisfaction of stewards before racing again.
UNDINE (D. Tanti) was slow to begin.
FORTUNATE CHOICE (App L. Rolls) raced wide for the majority.
