SUPPLEMENTARY REPORTS:

From Gold Coast Turf Club 14 July 2007 – Race 7

App J. Clarke’s licence to ride in races was suspended for 3 weeks commencing midnight Saturday 14 July 2007 up to and including midnight Friday 3 August 2007 after being found guilty of the contravention of AR137(a) for being careless when attempting to move UTHER wider on the track near the 100m point, which resulted in that horse clipping the heels of TAILS ARE WAGGING (C. Whiteley) resulting in App Clarke being dislodged.


Race 1: Hyne Class 2 H’Cap – 1200m.
1st – Rock The Roses 2nd – Dalcolo 3rd – Jimeoin 4th – Baladi

Trainer M. Eggleston was fined the sum of $100.00 for late declaration of rider for ROCK THE ROSES.

PRE COMMITMENT (D. Griffin) knuckled over at the start almost dislodging it’s rider.

ROCK THE ROSES (J. Byrne) overraced in the early and middle stages.

When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of FINER FEELINGS jockey G. Colless advised that the horse overraced in the early stages but yielded ground badly over the final 200m of the race. A subsequent veterinary examination found the filly to be lame in the near fore leg. Trainer A Bailey was advised that a veterinary certificate of fitness must be produced before FINER FEELINGS races again.



Race 2: Termi-Nator Maiden H’Cap – 1000m.
1st – Tejada 2nd – Single Bound 3rd – Tru Amici 4th – Blazing Stump

B. Baldwin the trainer of ROSE ISLAND was fined the sum of $100.00 for late notification of rider.

Stewards intend to question trainer F. Adams regarding the late scratching of FAIRBOUCHE at 8.27 a.m.

M. Bennett the rider of BLAZING STUMP was reprimanded for allowing his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of TEJADA (D. Coleman) near the 800m point resulting in TEJADA having to be steadied.



Race 3: James Hardie Class 1 H’Cap – 900m.
1st – Prince Cugat 2nd – Maredamah 3rd – Mary’s Magique 4th – Prayer Chamber

Jockeys W. Pearson was replaced at 1.10 due to his non-arrival on course. Stewards will speak to W. Pearson at the next available opportunity.

App J. Murphy was also replaced at 1.10 when it was subsequently ascertained that she had been involved in a traffic accident enroute to the course. Both riders were replaced as per the Stewards’ Raceday Summary.

PRINCE CUGAT (J. Holder) and SAVINA HABANERO (App M. Hackett) were tightened on jumping away between PRAYER CHAMBER (J. Bayliss) and DREAM’S COMING (C. Eaton) which shifted out.

DANCAN MELODY (B. Calkin) began awkwardly and shifted in making contact with SIEGE (J. Taylor).

Shortly after the start INFINITE TIME (S. Galloway) and BIG BONE GAL (A. Nicholls) were tightened for room between SILENT TORNADO (App C. Nicoll) and MARY’S MAGIQUE (App M. Palmer) which shifted out.

DREAM’S COMING had a tendency to lay in during the early stages of the event.

MAREDAMAH (D. Pires), LIONOVA (D. Griffin) and LE MONT BLANC (R. McMahon) were all caught racing wide for the majority of the event.

SILENT TORNADO was held up for clear running from the 300m until leaving the 100m.

INFINITE TIME was galloped on during running resulting in the horse sustaining lacerations to it’s near hind leg and losing it’s near hind plate.

Race 4: Hume Doors & Timber Maiden Plate – 1800m.
1st – Iza Comin’ 2nd – Secret Society 3rd – Dive Bomber 4th - Encargo

S. Randall the trainer of RHYTHMIC AFFAIR was fined the sum of $100.00 for late declaration of rider.

TRIOLOGY (C. Eaton) and SECRET SOCIETY (S. Galloway) were tightened on jumping away between IZA COMIN’ (J. Holder) and SILVER PEGASUS (T. Treichel) which shifted out.

GODS RIVAL (App R. McMahon) and ENCARGO (D. Tanti) came together on jumping away.

C. Eaton the rider of TRIOLOGY was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under AR137(a) for permitting her mount to shift out on the home turn resulting in LORD BENSON (App M. Hackett) being checked and shifting out inconveniencing GODS RIVAL (App R. McMahon). C. Eaton’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 8 meetings to commence midnight 28 July 2007 and to expire midnight 11 August 2007.

RHYTHMIC AFFAIR (G. Colless) was held up for clear running from the 300m until near the 100m and when endeavouring to obtain clear running shifted out and bumped SILVER PEGASUS on a number of occasions between the 250m and the 150m.



Race 5: Vantage Aluminium Joinery QTIS 3YO Class 1 H’Cap – 1300m.
1st – Sir Teles 2nd – Fearless Leap 3rd – Bernardo 4th – Going Fine

IMAGED (M. Bennett) was slow to begin.

Approaching the 1000m FORTUNATE CHOICE (J. Holder) improved up onto the heels of BEAUT NOISE (D. Tanti) and had to be steadied. FORTUNATE CHOICE then shifted in making heavy contact with the running rail.

Shortly after the start CHAR INNOCENT (D. Pires) commenced to buck and did so for a considerable distance resulting in the horse being retired from the event. Trainer R. Hurley was advised that the horse must trial to the satisfaction of stewards before racing again.

ASITUATION (App R. McMahon) and MIDNIGHT SURPRISE (App M. Kai) were caught racing wide for the majority of the event.

GOING FINE (App J. Jones) had a tendency to overrace in the middle stages.

FORTUNATE CHOICE was held up for clear running in the early stages of the straight.


Race 6: Mitek Class 1 H’Cap – 1400m.
1st – Our Hawk 2nd – Crescendo 3rd – Haram 4th – Danger Lane

DETERMINATION (D. Tanti) and DANGER LANE (D. Griffin) were tightened on jumping away between UNDINE (P. Wolfgram) and DARK ROSE (J. Taylor) which shifted out.

OUR HAWK (App D. Peisley) raced wide for the majority of the event.

DARK ROSE and DETERMINATION were held up for clear running for the majority of the straight.

T. Whittington the trainer of CITY LIGHTS (App J. Jones) reported that the horse sustained lacerations to it’s near hind leg during running which may have affected the horse’s performance.


Race 7: Gainsborough Hardware Class 5 H’Cap – 1200m.
1st – Possum 2nd – Shanambah 3rd – Amore 4th – Coquito Rose

COQUITO ROSE which was fractious in the barriers was removed and examined by the Club’s veterinary surgeon and passed fit to start.

BOLD YOUTH (M. Bennett) and BEEBEEKAYE (J. Holder) were both slow to begin.

Near the 100m BOLD YOUTH had to be steadied off the heels of BANKA BUCK (App A. Taylor) which shifted ground under pressure.


Race 8: GC City Cup Raceday 25 August Class 4 H’Cap – 1800m.
1st – Fat Quarters 2nd – Seen’Em Comin’ 3rd – Tattyam 4th - Emergence

EBONY LAD (K. Forrester) and EMERGENCE (M. Heagney) came together at the start.

BOISTEROUS BOY (A. Pattillo) was caught wide in the early and middle stages.

G. Colless reported that DANOISERIE was inclined to hang in for the majority of the event.

BOISTEROUS BOY was inclined to lay in under pressure over the final 300m which placed EBONY LAD in restricted racing room near the 200m.

SEEN’EM COMIN’ (D. Griffin) was inclined to lay in under pressure over final 100m.
