SUPPLEMENTARY:
Trainer M. Wilson pleaded guilty to a charge under LR43 in that he allowed an unlicensed stablehand N. Long to handle a horse during trackwork at the Gold Coast Turf Club on 10 April 2012. Mr Wilson was fined the sum of $200.00. Mr Long was reprimanded under LR7 for failing to ensure that he was appropriately licensed before handling Mr Wilson’s horses.
App T. Harrison was fined the sum of $500.00 under the provisions of AR87D in that she had in her possession a modified safety vest.
Race 1: Classic Concrete Pumping Colts, Geldings & Entires Maiden SW - 1400m
1st – Sale Along 2nd – Set To Zero 3rd – King Of Florence 4th – Legazpi
LEGAZPI (App P. Keane) jumped away awkwardly and lost significant ground.
Shortly after the start IN KOH CHANG (A. Pattillo) shifted out making contact with LORD HELP US (App R. Hurdle), which in turn shifted out making contact with LIL’ MCGUIRE (M. Crawford).
Leaving the 1100m SET TO ZERO (D. Griffin) when being restrained to obtain cover overraced for a short distance.
KUYA (K. Fujii) overraced for a short distance approaching the 800m.
LEGAZPI shifted wider on the track approaching the 800m to improve and raced wide from that point onwards.
NORDIC JET (L. Rolls) was held up and unable to improve from the 600m until approaching the 400m and was obliged to steady from the heels of the tiring IN KOH CHANG at a point near the 400m.
For a short distance near the 200m MAYWYNINTHESPRING (App B. Wallace) laid in under pressure.
Near the 200m KUYA became unbalanced after shifting in abruptly under pressure.
KING OF FLORENCE (T. Treichel) raced wide for the majority of the event.
A post race veterinary examination of IN KOH CHANG, which weakened badly over the final 400m and finished a distant last revealed no abnormalities. Stable representative K. Calland confirmed the stable’s disappointment in the performance, gave an undertaking to report anything which should come to light in the coming days to explain the performance and advised it would now be the stable’s intention to send the gelding for a spell.
M. Crawford reported that LIL’ MCGUIRE raced greenly throughout the event and shifted in on a number of occasions making contact with the running rail and becoming unbalanced.
Race 2: BBK Plumbing Plus Fillies & Mares Maiden SW Plate – 1400m
1st – Fascia 2nd – Sambodromo 3rd – Djebel’s Impact 4th – Eight Carat Queen
GRACE GOT MAIL (App T. Harrison) was slow to begin.
DJEBEL’S IMPACT (App R. Hurdle) jumped away awkwardly and shifted out.
D. Green the rider of SAMBODROMO was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR137(a) in that at a point near the 800m he allowed his mount to shift in when riding his horse along tightening the running of GRACE GOT MAIL (App T. Harrison), resulting in GRACE GOT MAIL being tightened for room and its rider having to take hold losing ground. After considering all the circumstances and taking into account D. Green’s riding record stewards issued D. Green with a severe reprimand.
HARKAWAY GIRL (App J. Hull) and SPLASH THE POT (E. Kehoe) raced wide for the majority of the event.
A post race veterinary examination of AL JALILA (M. Paget), which pulled up shortly after the winning post, revealed no abnormalities.
Stewards sought an explanation from App T. Harrison regarding the seemingly disappointing performance of GRACE GOT MAIL. App Harrison stated that after receiving interference near the 800m the mare was under pressure from that point and proved very disappointing over the concluding stages. Trainer M. Palmer was at a loss to explain the mare’s performance and undertook to report anything that comes to light which may have had a bearing on the performance.
Race 3: Burleigh Sports Club Fillies & Mares Class 2 H’Cap – 1400m
1st – Willhaveahundred 2nd – Beeby Gem 3rd – Miss Napolli D/Head 4th – Little Boutique/Mackenzie
J. Morrisey the trainer of MISS NAPOLLI advised stewards of his intention to instruct rider K. Fujii to ride the mare in a handy position in today’s event, which is in contrast to its most recent start in which it received interference in the early stages. The horse was ridden accordingly.
MACKENZIE (C. Whiteley) jumped away awkwardly and lost ground. A short distance later MACKENZIE was tightened for room between MISS NAPOLLI (K. Fujii) and LITTLE BOUTIQUE (App T. Harrison), which shifted out.
ROSES ROSE (A. Pattillo) shifted out at the start and made contact with I’M A SINGLE LADY (L. Rolls).
MISS NAPOLLI (K. Fujii) raced 3 wide throughout the event.
Stewards questioned K. Fujii regarding the tactics adopted on MISS NAPOLLI which resulted in MISS NAPOLLI being positioned 3 wide challenging for the lead at a point approaching the 700m. K. Fujii stated that after being slightly slow to begin he pressured MISS NAPOLLI until a point approaching the 1200m and was content to settle in a 3 wide position midfield however, when the pace steadied leaving the 1000m he saw an opportunity to improve forward to secure the lead to satisfy his riding instructions. He further stated however that the pace of the race then quickened and he was unable to cross to secure the lead. Stewards accepted the explanation.
L. Rolls reported to stewards that I’M A SINGLE LADY raced disappointingly and in his opinion did not travel comfortably at any stage during the event. Trainer M. Eggleston reported that I’M A SINGLE LADY will now be sent for a spell.
Race 4: Web Ninja QTIS 3YO H’Cap – 1200m
1st – Jam Fancy 2nd – In A Storm 3rd – Slysera 4th – Voodoo Black Magic
INDEX PAGE (A. Pattillo) jumped away awkwardly at the start and made contact with VOODOO BLACK MAGIC (App M. Speers).
Near the 600m INDEX PAGE was tightened for room and made contact with the running rail when racing to the inside of CALCULATION (D. Missen), which shifted in.
Stewards afforded A. Pattillo the opportunity to comment on the performance of INDEX PAGE. A. Pattillo stated that in his opinion the filly did not appreciate the soft racing surface and was under pressure from approaching the 600m.
Race 5: Lloyds Auctioneers And Valuers Class 3 H’Cap – 1800m
Dead Heat 1st – Attica/Grand Homme 3rd – Intoxicated 4th – La Compromis
App R. Hurdle replaced App J. Hull as the rider of LA COMPROMIS when App Hull was to be overweight. Given the circumstances of App Hull’s engagement stewards took no action.
Correct weight was delayed while the connections of both ATTICA and GRAND HOMME, which dead heated for first, were afforded the opportunity to view the Judge’s photo finish. Following this correct weight was declared.
ROCK RULES (D. Griffin) was tightened for room at the start between WILL IMPRESS (C. Whiteley) and INTOXICATED (A. Pattillo), which shifted in.
LA COMPROMIS (App R. Hurdle) jumped out at the start hampering both PACK THE BAGS (App P. Keane) and DAAD’S OVERTIME (D. Missen).
ROCK RULES raced wide during the early stages of the event.
GRAND HOMME (App A. Hearn) shifted out under pressure over the concluding stages of the event.
CONNACHT (M. Gray) raced wide throughout the event.
A post race veterinary examination of LA COMPROMIS revealed no abnormalities.
Race 6: Wood Mulching Industries Colts, Geldings & Entires Class 2 H’Cap – 1400m
1st – Mitayden 2nd – Tycoon Sun 3rd – Rocking Easy 4th – Express Warrior
COASTAL (App B. Wallace) which made contact with the gate prior to performing its preliminary underwent a pre race veterinary inspection and was passed fit to take its place in the field.
CONSTANT CRAVING (App R. Hurdle) was slow to begin.
WACHEEM (App P. Keane) which jumped away awkwardly was tightened for room shortly after the start between DAIRY (M. Paget) and SERIOUSLY READY (App T. Harrison), which was taken in by TYCOON SUN (T. Treichel), which shifted in.
During the early stages COASTAL whilst being restrained to secure clear running overraced for a short distance.
Leaving the 1000m THE INVENTOR (A. Mundy) commenced to overrace and then hung out approaching the 900m having to be restrained from the heels of WACHEEM.
Leaving the 900m DAIRY commenced to overrace and improved onto the heels of CAPTAIN INVINCIBLE (Michael Palmer) and had to be steadied. As a result ROCKING EASY (App J. Hull) also had to be steadied and shifted wider on the track for a short distance until approaching the 600m. A short distance after this RETUNE (D. Griffin) improved onto the heels of ROCKING EASY and had to be steadied, became unbalanced and made contact with the hind quarters of WACHEEM.
Rounding the home turn EXPRESS WARRIOR (D. Barron), RETUNE and NATURAL VELOCITY (A. Pattillo) were all held up for clear running until approaching the 300m.
Approaching the 300m the tiring CAPTAIN INVINCIBLE was buffeted between DAIRY and MITAYDEN (C. Whiteley), which shifted out in order to secure clear running.
WACHEEM raced wide for the majority of the event.
Race 7: Wood Mulching Industries Class 1 H’Cap – 1200m
1st – Ritzy’s Boy 2nd – Dorchester 3rd – Feltham 4th – Hill And Grace
A pre race veterinary examination of A GRADE STUDENT which arrived at the barrier with a small amount of blood in its off side nostril found that this was as a result of a burst blood vessel and was not ruled to be significant and was therefore permitted to take its place in the field.
GREAT HOPE (D. Green) was slow to begin.
HILL AND GRACE (App J. Hull) was tightened for room shortly after the start between MCNEICE (M. Paget) and RITZY’S BOY (D. Barron), which shifted in. A short distance later RITZY’S BOY continued to shift in causing MCNEICE to be tightened onto the hind quarters of DORCHESTER (C. Whiteley). M. Paget the rider of MCNEICE was obliged to steady his mount as a result. D. Barron rider of RITZY’S BOY was reprimanded for this incident.
Near the 1100m RAISE YOUR BANNER (App R. Jamieson) had to be steadied to avoid the heels of AUSSIE GAL (App R. Hurdle), which shifted in.
Leaving the 1000m KING’S REALM (A. Pattillo) when tightened for room to the inside of DANCES ON RAINBOWS (App B. Wallace) shifted in and away making heavy contact with the running rail and lost significant ground.
App R. Hurdle the rider of AUSSIE GAL pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR137(a) in that he allowed his mount to shift in near the 800m when insufficiently clear of RAISE YOUR BANNER (App R. Jamieson), which forced RAISE YOUR BANNER in onto the rightful running of FELTHAM (D. Griffin) causing that horse to be checked when tightened onto the hind quarters of KING’S REALM . App Hurdle’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of six (6) meetings to commence midnight 22 April 2012 and expire midnight 4 May 2012.
D. Griffin the rider of FELTHAM was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR137(a) in that after riding vigorously approaching the 400m FELTHAM improved onto the heels of A GRADE STUDENT (App T. Harrison). D. Griffin then shifted FELTHAM out making heavy contact with RAISE YOUR BID (App R. Jamieson) resulting in that horse shifting out forcing RITZY’S BOY out which resulted in MCNEICE clipping that gelding’s heels and blundering. D. Griffin’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of seven (7) meetings to commence midnight 21 April 2012 and expire midnight 4 May 2012.
DORCHESTER overraced during the middle stages of the event and was then held up for clear running for a short distance approaching the 300m.
Race 8: Scully Hire Class 3 SW Plate – 1200m
1st – Cryon 2nd – Stabilizer 3rd – Endless Shadow 4th – Coup Rayvan
FOUR STAR EAGLE (M. Paget) and FLASH THE ROCK (App M. Speers) were both slow to begin.
Leaving the 900m ENDLESS SHADOW (App R. Hurdle) hung out for a short distance causing GENERAL SHAREEF (A. Pattillo) to be steadied.
Near the 700m GENERAL SHAREEF which overraced during the early stages improved into a position where there was insufficient room between FLASH THE ROCK and BE AFRAID (C. Whiteley). As result of this incident GENERAL SHAREEF was severely checked.
Near the 500m ENDLESS SHADOW improved onto the heels of EXECUTIVE OFFICER (D. Griffin) and had to be steadied.
Leaving the 200m PHANTOMOFTHEOPERA (App J. Letherby) shifted out to obtain clear running and in doing so forced both TEXAX RED (T. Treichel) and FLASH THE ROCK wider on the track. This resulted in GENERAL SHAREEF which was following to be shifted wider on the track to obtain clear running.
Approaching the 100m App J. Hull (CRYON) was obliged to stop riding and alter course to obtain clear running after being disappointed for a run between STABILIZER (K. Fujii) and INNOCENT JACK (D. Green), which shifted out under pressure.
A post race veterinary examination of BE AFRAID revealed that the mare had been galloped on both hind legs and had received minor lacerations.
