After considering the explanation and taking into account App. Holt’s extremely poor record in relation to this matter, Stewards imposed a fine of $600. Stewards further placed an embargo on App. Holt that at this stage he is not eligible to ride any horse weighted with less than 56 kilograms.

Race 2: Flyscoot.com 3YO H’cap 1200m
1st – King Magnusson 2nd – The Black Superman 3rd – Play Luck 4th – blonde Pretender

Shortly after the start CHRISTINE (A Taylor) and VIVA LA ROSA (P Holmes) came together and bumped.
Approaching the 1000m AFTER FIVE over-raced at the heels of PURE REALITY (D Griffin). CHRISTINE which was following had to be steadied as a consequence and shifted out taking JUICY SCANDAL (M Palmer) across the running of SASSY MAHER. AFTER FIVE continued to race ungenerously until near the 500m. JUICY SCANDAL was then retired from the event leaving the 700m. A post-race veterinary examination of JUICY SCANDAL revealed the mare to have a deep laceration to the near hind leg consistent with being galloped on. Connections were advised that a veterinary certificate of fitness would be required before the mare races again.
Near the 500m RODIA (G Lynch) shifted in making contact with the running rail.
AFTER FIVE again raced greenly in the straight and as a result its rider was unable to fully test the filly.

Leaving the 1100m MAGIC SHUFFLE (J Johnson) attempted to shift in behind SMART ‘N’ STRONG (P Hammersley) and in doing so buffeted KARL THE GREAT (T Treichel) for a short distance.
ALL THE TORQUE raced wide for the majority of the event.
KARL THE GREAT over-raced in the middle stages of the event and approaching the 600m improved up on to the heels of ALL THE TORQUE and had to be steadied and shift wider on the track.
Stewards questioned Jockey C Whiteley the rider of INCITEMENT regarding the tactic to lead in today’s event compared to the tactics adopted at the horse’s most recent start where it was in a trailing position at the rear of the field. Jockey Whiteley advised that his instructions were to obtain a forward position just off the speed or if not challenged for the lead, then to maintain a leading position. When further questioned regarding the seemingly disappointing performance of INCITEMENT, Jockey Whiteley was of the view that the horse may be better ridden off the pace and allowed to run on over the final stages. Trainer D Wheeler confirmed the instructions as INCITEMENT had been obliged to take up a rear position from a wide alley at its previous start. Nonetheless Mr Wheeler was reminded of his obligations to advise Stewards of any perceived change of tactics. With regard to the overall performance of INCITEMENT, Mr Wheeler confirmed that the intention would be to ride INCITEMENT back in the field in future races and also restrict the horse’s program to races of 1200m. Mr Wheeler was also reminded of his obligations to remain on course for at least 30 minutes after the race.
Stewards questioned Jockey T Treichel regarding the performance of KARL THE GREAT today. Jockey T Treichel stated that the horse did not travel well throughout running and failed to stretch out over the final 200m of the event and had a tendency to lay in in the straight. Stewards will contact Trainer K Fleming at a later date regarding the post-race recovery of KARL THE GREAT.
Stewards questioned App. J Johnson regarding the tactics adopted on MAGIC SHUFFLE particularly in the early stages of the event where the apprentice restrained the horse in an endeavour to take a trailing position rather than allow the horse to stride forward. App. Johnson stated that the instructions were to position the horse mid-field if at all possible and she was able to take a mid-field position leaving the 800m. App. Johnson further advised stewards that she became unbalanced on the horse in the straight which restricted the manner in which she was able to ride the horse out to the finish of the event. Stewards noted her explanation but did advise her that they would refer her riding of the horse to the RQL apprentices’ supervisor, Mr L Maund, for further tuition.
Race 5: Korea Racing Authority Goodwill Cup H’cap – 2200m
1st – Daad’s Overtime 2nd – Alkiori 3rd – Without Reproach 4th – Billum
WITHOUT REPROACH (M Palmer) and WHITE CITY (G Lynch) were slow to begin.
BILLUM (A Holt) was held up for clear running and unable to improve approaching the home turn.
When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of DREAMS AND WISHES, Jockey C Whiteley was at a loss to explain the performance as the mare was under pressure 700m from the finish. The representative for Trainer J Thompson advised Stewards that connections were considering terminating the current racing program of DREAMS AND WISHES. In view of this undertaking Stewards took no further action in the matter. A post-race veterinary examination of DREAMS AND WISHES (C Whiteley) failed to reveal any apparent abnormalities at the time of examination.

MISS SMOKE (A Taylor) raced wide for the majority of the event.
Jockey G Lynch (CLASS OF GOLD) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under AR137(a) for permitting his mount to shift to the inside of ANGELONMYSHOULDER near the 350m resulting in CLASS OF GOLD making heavy contact with FEELIN’ FEISTY. As a consequence FEELIN’ FEISTY became unbalanced and lost ground. Jockey Lynch was suspended from riding in races for a period of 7 meetings to commence midnight 21/08/2012 and to expire midnight 31/08/2012.
CARESSABLE ONE (P Holmes) had difficulty obtaining clear running from leaving the 200m to inside the 100m.
Approaching the finish FEMMELEFEU was crowded for room when racing between ANGELONMYSHOULDER and ROSE SOFIA which shifted in.
