As App A. Holt was overweight and no other suitable apprentice was available stewards permitted C. Whiteley to be substituted as the rider of MO MO.
Stewards adjourned an inquiry to make further enquiries with the Trainers Service Centre into the gear worn by JET FIGHTER.
JET FIGHTER (A. Pattillo), PRIMAL FLIGHT (Michael Palmer), SKYTASTIC (App B. Appo) and MO MO (C. Whiteley) were all tightened for room at the start between CHURCHILL GEM (App J.K. NYANDA CROSSING (App S. Payne), DUKE’S CHARM (Matthew Palmer) and ALLHAPPENINGAGAIN (App G. Goold) were all slow to begin.
Shortly after the start CHURCHILL GEM shifted in and away from FLYING RIDDLE (D. Missen), which was shifting ground inwards and as a result CHURCHILL GEM and PRIMAL FLIGHT made heavy contact.
SKYTASTIC hung out rounding the home turn.
App G. Goold the rider of ALLHAPPENINGAGAIN was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under AR137(a) in that approaching the 400m he rode his mount along hands and heels and improved up onto the heels of JET FIGHTER, shifted out when insufficiently clear of PAJINGO (D. Hayse), causing that runner to be checked and forced outwards. In this incident both NYANDA CROSSING and MYBOYMAURIE (S. Sheargold) which were both racing to the outside were forced wider on the track. When questioned regarding the performance of MAGIC CADRE App S. Payne stated that the horse travelled well throughout until placed under pressure from leaving the 600m and failed to respond to his riding and was most disappointing. App Payne further added that the only reasonable explanation he could put forward was that the horse was trapped wide and was not entirely comfortable on today’s surface. His comments were noted.
