Trainer N. Mayfield-Smith advised stewards that in the days subsequent to the event FAMOUS SEAMUS (NZ) was found to have suffered a near side black eye.

From Eagle Farm 30 April 2014

Following the disappointing performance of WRITTEN ABOVE ALL, which competed in Race 9 Winning Edge Presentations Class 4 H’Cap 1600m, trainer R. Heathcote advised that he was at a loss to explain the poor performance as the gelding had pleased him in its trackwork and that a subsequent veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. He further stated that WRITTEN ABOVE ALL has recovered well and he will monitor the horse’s progress before making a decision on the horse’s current preparation.

Mr Heathcote further explained that he was also disappointed with the performance of NEUSCHWANSTEIN, which competed in Race 7 Channel Seven Class 2 H’Cap 1300m, and that following a subsequent veterinary examination it was decided that the gelding would be sent for an immediate spell.
