As App. A Hearn was indisposed through injury, Stewards permitted rider replacements as per Stewards Race Day Summary.
As Jockey S Galloway was unable to fulfil his riding engagements, rider replacements were made as per Stewards Race Day Summary.
App. A Holt was fined the sum of $300 for failure to claim his full allowance. Rider replacements were made as per Stewards Race Day Summary.
Race 1: Atruium Bar At Jupiters 2yo H’cap – 1300m
1st – Rosella 2nd – Homehill 3rd – Hakkasan 4th – Clemmensen
CASTANITA (M Cahill) was slow to begin.
HAKKASAN (J Byrne) jumped away awkwardly.
SECRET TRYST (J Morris) and CLEMMENSEN (L Rolls) came together on jumping away.
Approaching the 1000m ROSELLA (L Tarrant) had to steady away from the heels of HAKKASAN.
Approaching the 600m CLEMMENSEN which was racing ungenerously had to steady away from the heels of ROSELLA.
Approaching the winning post ROSELLA shifted out resulting in HAKKASAN having to steady.
When questioned regarding the tactics adopted on HAKKASAN, Jockey J Byrne stated that his intentions were to endeavour to get a soft lead and race one off the fence as he is of the opinion that this ground is better than racing near the fence. The filly was inclined to lay out in the early stages of the event and then again approaching the home turn. His explanation was noted.
A post-race veterinary examination of TWEEDIES (T Bell) revealed a laceration to the off hind coronet.
A post-race veterinary examination of WAFFLE (K Wharton) revealed a high heart rate post-recovery.
Race 2: The Food Fantasy Maiden Plate – 1400m

As Jockey A Best was indisposed through illness, he was replaced by Jockey M Cahill on MISS JODY’S JOY.
BLU AXIS (J Byrne) was slow to begin.
BRANDED (A Allen) and ROYAL EVENT (A Butler) jumped away awkwardly.
MISS JODY’S JOY (M Cahill) raced wide throughout the event.
Approaching the 600m BRANDED which was racing greenly shifted out and away from the heels of STEP THE PEDAL (T Harrison) and then shifted back in resulting in IF EVER (J Morris) being taken in and having to be steadied. As a consequence TOMMY’S HI (L Rolls) which was following had to steady to avoid the heels of IF EVER and shifted out.
Race 3: Solaria At Jupiters F & M One Metro Win H’cap – 1200m
1st – Little Brown Horse 2nd – Nicky Nocky 3rd – Attitudinal Miss 4th – Get On
DANSAL (T Harrison) was slow to begin.
LIGHTFEET LADY (T Wolfgram) jumped away awkwardly.
Race 4: Jupiters Hotel & Casino Open H’cap – 1200m

Stewards accepted Trainer K Purdy’s explanation for the late rider notification of Jockey J Byrne on SIMPLY SMART.
As Jockey B Stewart was unable to arrive on course by the prescribed time due to transport difficulties, he was replaced by Jockey L Cassidy on STAR SAMMY.
ROCK ACADEMY (M Cahill) was slow to begin.
JAZZBO MARKS (T Harrison) raced wide without cover throughout the event.
It was reported that JAZZBO MARKS lost its off hind plate in running.
Race 6: Bruce Lynton BMW Class 6 Set Weights Plate – 1800m
1st – Shotover River 2nd – Catalonia 3rd – Southerly 4th – Courtz Boy
Connections advised that from the wide barrier SOUTHERLY (T Harrison) would be ridden quieter today. SOUTHERLY raced in a handy position behind the leaders.
Connections advised that EMERALD DUKE (J Morris) would be ridden more forward today – Ridden accordingly. Trainer L Ross advised after the race that he would now give the mare a short let-up from racing.
SWEET AND VICIOUS (A Allen) which kicked out after being loaded was inspected by the veterinary surgeon and passed to race.
HEART OF MANY (M Cahill) jumped away awkwardly, shifted out and made heavy contact with COURTZ BOY (L Tarrant).
CATALONIA (T Bell) jumped away awkwardly.
Passing the 1400m EMERALD DUKE shifted in and made contact with SOUTHERLY.
Race 7: Bruce Lynton BMW 3yo H’cap – 1200m
1st – Smoke Hazard 2nd – Agitate 3rd – Pandora Charm 4th – Hydrazine
SMOKE HAZARD (J Byrne) arrived at the barriers with blood in its mouth. The gelding was examined by the veterinary surgeon and passed to race.
ALLHAPPENINGAGAIN (T Harrison) and FIFTH CHANCE (T Wolfgram) were slow to begin.
App. T Wolfgram (FIFTH CHANCE) was reprimanded for using his whip in a forehand manner on more than 5 occasions prior to the 100m.
A post-race veterinary examination of EASTERN PRINCE (T Bell) which finished at the rear of the field revealed the gelding to have a slow recovery rate. The veterinary surgeon recommended that the gelding be scoped. Trainer G Heinrich advised that EASTERN PRINCE would now be sent for a spell.
Race 8: Bruce Lynton BMW BM85 H’cap – 1400m
1st – Escoffier 2nd – Primed to Win 3rd – Noogoora Burr 4th – Mishani Stealth
HLUDOWIG (K Wharton) was slow to begin.
ESCOFFIER (G Goold) blundered on jumping away.
Near the 900m MISHANI STEALTH (B Stewart) shifted in and briefly tightened PRIMED TO WIN (T Bell). At the same stage SOLEBID (A Allen) laid in across the heels of ESCOFFIER and then shifted out forcing HI SON (R Jamieson) wider on the track.
PRIMARY COLOUR (J Morris) pulled hard in the early and middle stages of the event.
HI SON raced wide throughout the event.
Near the 700m BUAKAW (T Wolfgram) was momentarily tightened for room between MISHANI STEALTH and SOLEBID which shifted in.
Near the 600m POWERFUL JET (L Tarrant) was hampered when tightened for room between PRIMED TO WIN and BUAKAW.
PRIMARY COLOUR had difficulty obtaining clear running in the straight.
CANNY BE FAMOUS (T Harrison) was held up for clear running over the concluding stages of the event.
Approaching the winning post HI SON was steadied when tightened for room by NOOGOORA BURR (J Byrne) which shifted in. Jockey J Byrne was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances in future.
