From Emerald 26th November 2011 Trainer N Boyle advised stewards that CLASSY FRANKY which competed in race 5 had been inspected by the vet and chiropractor and revealed no abnormalities. He further advised it was his intention for the gelding to leave his stables and possibly be retired.

Race 1: Carlton Mid Class B Handicap- 850 metres
1st GAMBLE IN GOLD 2nd MIDNIGHT SURRENDER 3rd FOMAL WINTER 4th- VARSOVIENNA

In the saddling enclosure DUAN ALLIBAR (K Gates) became fractious and dislodged Apprentice K Gates. DUAN ALLIBAR was inspected by the vet and cleared to start.
Behind the barriers DUAN ALLIBAR has again dislodged Apprentice K Gates and was subsequently declared a late scratching due to Apprentice Gates being unable to fulfil her engagement.
Apprentice Gates was stood down for the remainder of the meeting and advised that she must provide a medical certificate prior to riding again.

Trainer D Schultz was advised that a warning be placed on DUAN ALLIBAR regarding being fractious in the enclosure and having dislodged the rider at the barriers. All monies invested on DUAN ALLIBAR were ordered to be refunded, with the following deductions applicable:

0 cent in the dollar for the win – GAMBLE IN GOLD
1 cents in the dollar for place of winner – GAMBLE IN GOLD
4 cents in the dollar for 2nd place – MIDNIGHT SURRENDER
4 cents in the dollar for 3rd place – FOMAL WINTER

ADDA ROCKET (L Dillon) began awkwardly.

Both TALEOFTHECENTURY (I Coombes) and AMANDAS DREAM (S Sheargold) raced wide throughout.


Race 2: Cascade Light Class 1 Handicap- 1194 metres
1st JAMDIT 2nd NOAH’S SMILE 3rd CARRY THE MING 4th- GIZA

Jockey T O’Hara was substituted as the rider of CARRY THE MING when no apprentice rider was available to replace the indisposed apprentice K Gates.

A post-race veterinary examination of MUSICA (C Pye) revealed no abnormalities, Trainer L Kiernan advised stewards that he would report results of blood tests and any condition that may become apparent.

A post-race veterinary examination of SUGAR DIAMOND (S Sheargold) revealed no abnormalities. Trainer L Petersen was advised that a warning be placed on the gelding for not being competitive.

Race 3: Carlton Dry Maiden Plate - 1000 metres
1st– KYEEBI CASHEL 2nd – CRAIGLEA BARKLY 3rd EDGEROI DIXIE 4th- JUNGLE WOMAN

Jockey T O’Hara was substituted as the rider of EDGEROI DIXIE when no apprentice rider was available to replace the indisposed apprentice K Gates.

No racing incidents

Race 4: Paul Noake Class 6 Plate- 1000 metres
1st TWOGUNDAN 2nd ZAHMAO 3rd RED TSAR 4th – MAGIC PEARL

Jockey S McGovern was permitted to ride MAGIC PEARL half a kilogram over 54 ½ kilograms.

Jockey M Barnham was substituted as the rider of ZAHOO when no apprentice rider was available to replace the indisposed apprentice K Gates.

MASTER GREIG (C Pye) was slow away and raced wide throughout.

When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of ZAHOO, jockey M Barnham stated that whilst he had intended to ride the horse in a more forward position, the horse was unable to hold that position and in his opinion as the horse was second up from a spell he thought that the horse would benefit from the run. He further stated that the horse felt fine in its action. Stewards noted his explanation. A post race examination revealed no abnormalities. A swab sample was taken from the horse.


Race 5: Carlton Draught Class 3 Plate - 1517 metres
1st INALA ROYALE 2nd ANGEL PLACE 3rd CALLY GREENLAKE 4th- SHOT BAR

INALA ROYALE (C Pye) raced wide throughout.

SHOT BAR (D Whitmore) was inclined to hang in for the majority of the event.
