SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT
As Trainer P Bailey has not attended race meetings in the interim, and pending any further submissions in regard to this matter, a fine of $300 will be imposed for the late scratching of RHINO from Emerald on Sunday 20th April 2014 after having competed at Gladstone on 19th April, 2014 (AR 114)
Race 1: Diceys Irish Pub BM 60 Handicap- 850 metres
1st FRAHA 2nd NORTHERN SHIFT 3rd DOUBTFUL PRINCE 4th- MARTY
ME FAST TOO (L. Dillon) was slow into stride.
Near the 700 metres, FRAHA (C Pye) shifted in slightly and caused BUDDY ROCKS (App M McGillivray), which lay in and away from that runner, to be steadied.
Near the 400 metres, FRENCH GARRISON (T. O’Hara) lay out and was steadied.
ME FAST TOO and BUDDY ROCKS raced wide throughout.
FRAHA was inclined to lay in over concluding stages.
Race 2: Become a GTC Member and Win Class 5 Handicap- 1000 metres
1st SCHOORWIN 2nd SUPERB EFFORT 3rd THE SNIP 4th- RODRIGEUZ
RODRIGEUZ (S. McGovern) and GUILIETTA (D. Hayse) were slow into stride.
EDGEROI DIXIE (A. Coome) began a little awkwardly.
GUILIETTA and RODRIGEUZ raced wide throughout.
Race 3: GTC Art Union QTIS Maiden Plate- 1000 metres
1st–STYLISH LUCK 2nd –BULLETIN BELLE 3rd COSTA LITTLE 4th- AZAHARA
Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Stewards heard an application whether PICAPUB should be declared a non-runner. On hearing evidence from Jockey S Sheargold and Starter B Lisle, it was established that the barrier gate had been tethered shut previously when the barrier gates had been transported and did not open. Accordingly, acting under AR 134A, PICAPUB was declared a non-runner with the following deductions to apply;
STYLISH LUCK- 0 win 8c place
BULLETIN BELLE- 9c place
AZAHARA- 12c place
A report will be forwarded to RQ Chairman of Stewards regarding this incident.
GOLDEN CZAR (App K Aho) was difficult to load and jumped outwards at the start.
COSTA LITTLE (J Stephens) jumped out onto STYLISH LUCK (C. McIver), which shifted out onto BULLETIN BELLE, onto PEEL ‘EM FIRST (T. O’Hara) and MOONMERA (App M McGillivray).
Shortly after the start, JACKSON MAGIC (C Pye) raced ungenerously when restrained and lost ground.
Near the 850 metres, GOLDEN CZAR shifted in and bumped AZAHARA (K. Gates) and caused COWBOY’S GIRT (L Dillon) which was laying out, to be steadied.
BULLETIN BELLE, PEEL ‘EM FIRST and MOONMERA raced wide throughout.
Race 4: Gladstone Cup 9th August BM 55 Handicap (Div 1)- 1194 metres
1st FOMALSTAR 2nd SPPOKY MOO 3rd DUAN THEO 4th- EDGEROI HOPE
SEA CREST (D. Hayse) was slow to begin.
SPOOKY MOO (C. Pye) lay out when racing around the home turn.
RED ERIC (S Sheargold, EDGEROI HOPE (C. McIver) and FOMALSTAR (K Gates) raced wide throughout.
Race 5: Gladstone Cup 9th August BM 55 Handicap (Div 2)- 1194 metres
1st SOUTHSIDE 2nd BIG BERT 3rd BASE JUMP 4th- IRIANA WILL
This race was delayed approximately 5 minutes as the track was maintained.
BE RADICAL (C. Pye) was slow to begin.
OUR CON ARTIST (D Evans) was slow into stride and in the early stages raced ungenerously when it appear to resent the sand kick back.
Near the 850 metres, SOUTHSIDE (L Dillon) raced ungenerously and shifted wider on the track. Jockey Dillon reported this was due to the visibility from sand coming back.
RYTARGA (D Hayse) raced wide throughout.
Race 6: The Celebration Open Handicap- 1194 metres
1st DIRECT DEBIT 2nd SATCH 3rd EL SUPREMO 4th- KLITSCHKO
Near the 1100 metres, SATCH (App M McGillivray) made contact with the hindquarters of KLITSCHKO (S. Sheargold) which become unbalanced.
Near the 600 metres, EL SUPREMO (A. Coome) was taken wider to avoid the sand kick back.
KLITSCHKO raced wide throughout.
Race 7: Gladstone Cup 9th August BM 55 Handicap (Div 2)- 1194 metres
1st 2nd 3rd 4th-
Acting on a confirmed telephone call from Trainer S Sigvart that STREETFIRE was lame in its near fore fetlock, the gelding was declared a late scratching at 2.35pm. Mr Sigvart was advised that a veterinary certificate would be required prior to its next start.
NOSTOPPINTHEMUSIC (A.Coome), JUST FOR KEEPS (L Dillon) and SILVERZEN (C. Pye) were all slow to begin and raced wide throughout.
DANE FIRE (K Gates) raced wide for the majority of the race.
Regarding the performance of JUST FOR KEEPS, Jockey Dillon stated the gelding had raced flat and may have come to the end of its preparation. He further stated that it was the intention of connections to spell the gelding.
