LATE RIDING CHANGES
As Jockey P Cullen was injured and not riding at the meeting the following rider replacements were approved by the Stewards.
Race 2- ALTAHLEE- D Simmons.
Race 3- RATTLER’S LAD- W D’Avila.
Race 6- CARBINCONI- W D’Avila.
Race 1: CELLABRATIONS QTIS TWO-YEARS-OLD MAIDEN H’CAP– 1000 metres
1st –Dragon Sign 2nd –Montago 3rd –Bella Rocket 4th –I See Romance
The start was delayed when the Ambulance was late arriving on course.
The Start was further delayed when the barriers were found to be located in the wrong position and were required to be relocated to the correct position.
MR HIFIELD (M Elliott) was difficult to load.
DRAGON SIGN (N Yadi) was tightened for room at the start between BELLA ROCKET (D Simmonds) and MONTAGO (E Ljung) both of which shifted ground.
MORE THAN CHARLIE (J Kuskopf) raced wide throughout.
Race 2: - BROWN BROTHERS WINES MAIDEN H’CAP – 1000 metres
1st –Winged Warrior 2nd -Altahlee 3rd–Absolute Destiny 4th–Action Tonight
ABSOLUTE DESTINY (S Wilson) which was slow to begin was inclined to lay in under pressure in the home straight.
Jockey M Elliott reported to Stewards on returning to scale that his mount ZEDAHEEL reared at the start and lost ground.
Race 3: - STEEL PACIFIC INSURANCE BROKERS CLASS B H’CAP– 1100 metres
1st –Be Grand 2nd –Heart of Strength 3rd –Vivarea 4th –Parsnips
HUSSELING (L Smith) attempted to buck shortly after the start and lost some ground. Trainer B Hunter was advised that a warning would be issued against HUSSELING.
HEART OF STRENGTH (M Elliot) raced wide for the majority of the event.
BE GRAND (S Pawsey) made the home turn wide.
Stewards questioned Trainer T Rowe in relation to the seemingly improved performance of BE GRAND. Mr Rowe advised that he had recently added a tongue tie and blinkers to the mares approved racing gear which be believed contributed to the improved performance today. Mr Rowe further advised that BE GRAND had been working well in preparation for today’s event and whilst he had expected an improved showing he was somewhat surprised that the filly was able to win today’s event.
Jockey W D’Avila reported to Stewards on returning to scale that his mount RATTLER’S LAD never travelled comfortably throughout the event and proved disappointing. A post-race Veterinary inspection of RATTLER’S LAD failed to reveal any abnormalities.
Race 4: – BUNDABERG RUM CLASS B H’CAP– 1600 metres
1st –Arcanus 2nd –Runabout 3rd –Happy Jones 4th–Rocket On Board
ROCKET ON BOARD (D Simmons) reared as the start was affected and lost ground. Trainer J Manzelmann was advised that a warning was issued against the gelding.
RUNABOUT (E Ljung) hung out for the majority of the event.
Race 5: – XXXX CLASS 3 PLATE – 1400 metres
1st –Staunch North 2nd –Help Me Rhonda 3rd –Mr Gifford 4th –Show Us Ya Ivory’s
MR GIFFORD (S Wilson) which was slow to begin, raced ungenerously at the heels of STAUNCH NORTH (G Kliese) in the early stages of the event.
Race 6: – THE CELEBRATION SERIS BENCHMARK 70 H’CAP – 1200 metres
1st –Dux Bellorum 2nd –Carbinconi 3rd –Camphor 4th–Magic Country
Trainer A Cameron advised Stewards prior to the event that he will be instructing Jockey G Kliese not to use the whip on DUX BELLORUM unless absolutely necessary. Public announcements were made to this effect.
HEZA RULLAH (M Elliott) was slow to begin.
Near the 900m, CAMPHOR (E Ljung) was momentarily placed in restricted room to the inside of CARLTON FORWARD (R Ryan) which hung in slightly despite the efforts of its rider.
