Race 1: Sid Sadleir Memorial/Ingham Travel QTIS Maiden Plate – 1000 metres:
1st – KAP IT OFF 2nd – JUMBO RUMBO 3rd – BOHAI BAY 4th – CLASSIC BURLESQUE
KAP IT OFF – Was bumped on jumping.
BARRINGHA ON – Bumped on jumping away then raced wide in the early and middle stages.
CLASSIC BURLESQUE – Slow into stride.
BOHAI BAY – Jockey reported was inclined to hang out in the early and middle stages of the event.
Race 2: Ingham Family Medical Practice Class B Handicap – 1200 metres:
1st – I’M MARIAH 2nd – JUST LUCKY 3rd – BEARIZAN 4th – PENTHOUSE POPPY
BEARIZAN – Was tightened for room on jumping away.
PENTHOUSE POPPY – Jumped outwards at the start making heavy contact with another runner resulting in jockey becoming unbalanced.
JUST LUCKY – Jumped inwards at the start making heavy contact with another runner resulting jockey J Felix becoming unbalanced and losing the use of his off side iron. Then near the 800 metres jockey then became further unbalanced resulting in him losing the use of both irons which placed him at a distinct disadvantage for the remainder of the event.
I’M MARIAH – When questioned as to the reasons for the mare taking up a forward position which is in contrast to its previous start. Jockey stated that with the small field and no pace in the race he found himself in a forward position without asking the mare for any effort. Stewards noted his comments.
Race 3: Bundaberg Rum/Trebonne Hotel Benchmark 70 Handicap – 1200 metres:
1st – MORE THAN A SONG 2nd – BOLT FROM THE BLUE 3rd – WE WILL ROCK 4th – VICOMTE
VICOMTE – Was forced to race three wide throughout. A post – race veterinary examination of the gelding revealed it to have a higher than normal heart rate and to be suffering from heat stress.
FRAIDSO – When questioned as to the disappointing performance, jockey stated that the gelding failed to handle the firm track conditions. A post – race veterinary examination reveal the gelding to have jarred up.
ZATSACAT – Slow into stride then bumped shortly after. A post – race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.
Race 4: Zest Financial Solutions Benchmark 55 Handicap – 1600 metres:
1st – BLUEY’S ESCAPE 2nd – WINDSOR GOLD 3rd – RATTLE’N’BATTLE 4th – CASHED UP BULLY
FOB DUBAI – Slow to begin ten raced wide rounding the home turn.
RATTLE’N’BATTLE – Slow to begin.
TRIVIAL – A post – race veterinary examination of the mare which proved disappointing revealed it to have jarred up.
