WEATHER - OVERCAST TRACK - GOOD RAIL - OUT 9M. ALL TRACK
GENERAL: The following riders were indisposed and replaced as follows: S. Shield - Race 2. IN THE DARK - S. Katsidis; N. Jolly - Race 6. PAY THE GOLD - S. Katsidis; Race 9. BRUSH - J. Pollard. S. Seamer - Race 5. ROYAL CONCORDE - S. Katsidis; Race 6. NOBLE UNIVERSE - D. Green; Race 7. JODAVRO - D. Walsh; Race 8. CIRCLE OF WHITE - S. Katsidis.
Due to an office error, Race 9, No. 6 - KWILENA - was initially declared a late scratching, when in fact the correct scratching was Race 8, No. 6 - HELEO. Stewards ordered the withdrawal of HELEO at 8.30 a.m.. Stewards further ordered the reinstatement of KWILENA in race 9.
RACE 1: QUEENSLAND FROZEN FOODS H'CAP - 814M.
Following an interview with trainer N. Dyer's representative, owner/trainer Mr L. Smith, stewards ordered the withdrawal of BRONSCAY at 11.28 a.m. when it was established that the gelding was not being trained in accordance with the rules. Mr Dyer will be interviewed by stewards on a date to be fixed regarding this matter.
Approaching the 500m., DETECT commenced to hang out, taking TOHESERA wider on the track.
RACE 2: IPSWICH CITY QUALITY LIFESTYLE H'CAP - 1700M.
No racing incidents.
RACE 3: IPSWICH EVENTS CORPORATION H'CAP - 1025M.
C. Schumacher reported that the saddle on TOTAL ECLIPSE shifted to the off-side passing the 800m., placing him at a disadvantage for the remainder of the race.
On jumping away, SHE SAILOR shifted out and made contact with the starting gate.
LADY ISABELLA was hampered at the start between TILLSZOFF and GO TELEST, which shifted out.
GO TELEST overraced in the early stages and had to be steadied off the heels of TILLSZOFF.
Making the home turn, TOTAL ECLIPSE shifted out, taking JUSTILY wider on the track.
K. Waller was examined by the club's doctor following this event after complaining of an injury to his left leg. K. Waller was passed fit to fulfil his remaining engagements.
RACE 4: RACENET.COM.AU H'CAP - 1025M.
LILY'S BABY was declared a late scratching at 11.20 a.m. on veterinary advice.
ZEDALITY was also a late scratching at 8.30 a.m.. Trainer I. O'Neill advised that he observed ZEDALITY was short in its action and required veterinary attention. A veterinary certificate will be forwarded to stewards.
HIDDEN CAMERA, NOVICE and MAIZAY'S HOPE were all slow to begin.
CHICKIE jumped away awkwardly and lost ground.
Approaching the 800m., EXACT had to be steadied off the heels of BROOKCRIST, then shifted out, making contact with NOVICE. NOVICE was forced to race wide for some distance after this incident..
RACE 5: XXXX H'CAP - 1200M.
Trainer J. Zielke was fined $50 for failing to effect a transfer of ownership for ROYAL COCORDE.
PACEMAKER was hampered at the start between MIGHTY MALTESE and MA FOI, both of which shifted ground.
Approaching the first turn, RAFTER shifted out and made contact with PACEMAKER.
A veterinary examination of DURANCH following the event revealed a small laceration to the near hind tendon.
RACE 6: HOME STYLE BAKE H'CAP - 1200M.
KENSINGTON QUEEN was a late scratching at 8.30 a.m. on veterinary advice.
Stewards ordered the withdrawal of BROKEN SILENCE 2.24 p.m. when the gelding failed to arrive on course. As betting had not commenced for this event, no deductions were applicable. Stewards will interview trainer J. Nikolic regarding this matter.
No racing incidents.
RACE 7: SECUTOR SECURITY H'CAP - 1025M.
Approaching the 700m., when the pace slackened, PLAUSIBLE commenced to overrace and had to be steadied off the heels of CAROL'S CHOICE.
Approaching the 500m., UNDICE shifted out and made contact with GO JUAN GO.
Near the 400m., PLAUSIBLE blundered on its own accord.
GO JUAN GO was held up over the concluding stages.
PLAUSIBLE was inclined to hang out after passing the 100m..
UNDICE was obliged to race wide throughout the race.
When interviewed regarding the seemingly disappointing performance of EYE IN THE SKY, G. Colless stated that the horse traveled keenly in a 3 wide position in the early and middle stages. However when placed under pressure nearing the 500m., EYE IN THE SKY failed to respond to his riding and shortened stride shortly after and failed to run on. Trainer G. Clunes explained that it was the horse's first start for 6 months, however had competed in 3 jumpouts at Caloundra in recent weeks. Mr Clunes added that in his opinion EYE IN THE SKY was still carrying excess condition, however he expected the horse to be competitive today. Mr Clunes undertook to bring to the stewards' attention any abnormality with EYE IN THE SKY that may become apparent in the days following this event. A veterinary examination of EYE IN THE SKY following the event failed to reveal any abnormality. A swab sample was taken from EYE IN THE SKY.
RACE 8: TRACK SIDE LOUNGE H'CAP - 1025M.
Trainer P. Moody was fined $50 for presenting CHICO with incorrect gear.
DINNYHAYSER and AGILE KING came together on jumping away.
DINNYHAYSER had to be steadied approaching the 800m. when tightened for room between CAPSULE and AGILE KING, which shifted out.
After leaving the 600m., when attempting to take a run to the inside of CIRCLE OF WHITE., MERRAN shifted in and made contact with CHICA.
Approaching the 500m., SUNSET CROWN blundered and shifted in, making contact with the fence and became unbalanced.
Stewards opened an inquiry into D. Craven's handling of GUIDANCE, in particular over the final 300m.. After taking evidence from D. Craven and trainer M. Craven, the inquiry was adjourned to 11 a.m. on Tuesday, 2 May.
RACE 9: EYE LINER LOUNGE H'CAP - 1200M.
Stewards will interview trainer E. Singh into the reason for FLYING SHOES not being scratched by the required time.
ALL MIGHTY WAVE was slow to begin.
BRUSH and AUTUMNWOOD came together on jumping away.
Nearing the 250m., STAR PROOF had to be steadied off the heels of AUTUMNWOOD and alter course.
Approaching the 200m., AUTUMNWOOOD shifted out under pressure, resulting in STAR PROOF being taken out on to SOUTHERN JOY.
KRONA LADY shifted in under pressure over the concluding stages.
Near the 100m., T. Maeda, rider of KRONA LADY, accidentally struck the hand of M. Bennett, rider of SOUTHERN JOY, dislodging his whip from his hand.
ALL WINNERS AND EYE IN THE SKY WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED.
