IPSWICH TURF CLUB STEWARDS REPORT FRI.6.6.01

STEWARDS PANEL: Mr J. Hackett (Chairman); Mr G. Ireland; Mr C. McLune; Mr R. Sanders; Mr D. Aurisch; Mr W. Birch; Mr J. Peyton.

WEATHER - FINE TRACK - GOOD RAIL - 7.5M. ALL TRACK


RACE 1: YALUMBA ANGUS BRUT H'CAP - 1100M.

No racing incidents.


RACE 2: YALUMBA GALWAY HERMITAGE H'CAP - 1200M.

LADY ARAMAC, which jumped away awkwardly, made heavy contact with JUST MACCA and blundered shortly after.

Rounding the first turn, EXPLOSIVE LASS, which was pulling, had to be steadied off the heels of RANGERS. At the time of this incident, OH DOLLY had to be eased away from the heels of EXPLOSIVE LASS.

LADY ARAMAC was inclined to hang out approaching the home turn and made the home turn awkwardly.

Near the 200m., CHAR AZTEK, which was inclined to race ungenerously, shifted in and had to be eased away from the heels of LADY ARAMAC.


RACE 3: YALUMBA CHARDONNAY SUPER QRIS ADDED STAKES H'CAP - 1500M.

FLASHBORNE and CONCESSION were both slow to begin.

FLASHBORNE hung off making the first turn, taking GUARDED HONOUR wider on the track.

FLASHBORNE again hung off on the home turn, causing RIPPLING STEEL to be inconvenienced. FLASHBORNE finished on the extreme outside rail. A veterinary examination of FLASHBORNE failed to reveal any abnormality. Trainer R. Macrae was advised that FLASHBORNE will be required to trial satisfactorily in an official trial before being permitted to race again.

Approaching the home turn, THESPIAN PRINCE, which had been pulling hard, shifted away from the heels of NATANIA, resulting in MAYNE EDGE being momentarily tightened for room.

THESPIAN PRINCE had a tendency to lay out over the concluding stages, and a warning was issued.






RACE 4: SCHWEPPES PEPSI COLA H'CAP - 1500M.

LOOP THE LOUP reared in the barriers and got a foreleg over the partition, coming into contact with DARK WINE. Both horses were removed from the barriers and examined by the club's veterinary surgeon and found suitable to race. Due to the barrier manners of LOOP THE LOUP, connections of that colt were advised that a further barrier certificate must be obtained prior to its next race start.

Approaching the first turn, LOOP THE LOUP shifted in and brushed the hind quarters of DARK WINE.

Shortly after, ADAWAY had to be steadied when racing between NORTHERN HEIGHTS and MAC'S SEATTLE, which shifted in. G. Palmer, rider of MAC'S SEATTLE, was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.

MAC'S SEATTLE had a tendency to lay in in the early stages of the straight.

When questioned, trainer's representative C. Bock stated he was disappointed with the performance of DARK WINE and the connections may consider spelling the horse. A swab sample was taken from DARK WINE.


RACE 5: SCHWEPPES LEMONADE H'CAP - 1350M.

WISHART was tightened for room between CLASSIC FRONTIER and PAMPAS BULL when both horses shifted ground at the start.

INVOICE had difficulty obtaining clear running rounding the home turn and for some distance in the straight.


RACE 6: XXXX HAHN PREMIUM H'CAP - 1666M.

HONOURABLY was a late scratching on veterinary advice at 10.30 a.m..

After arrival at the track, SIDE BET was examined by the club's veterinary surgeon and found suitable to race.

GREAT EXPORT was a late scratching at 3.20 p.m. when the horse was found to be lame in the off foreleg. Following the late scratching, all monies invested on GREAT EXPORT were ordered to be refunded, and deductions were made in accordance with the Racing and Betting Act - i.e. 3 cents in the dollar on the face value of win bets, 3 cents in the dollar on the face value of place bets.

SIDE BET was inclined to pull hard in the early stages.

KWILA STAR was held up for clear running rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the straight. Approaching the finishing line, KWILA STAR had to be checked when disappointed for a run between MAJOR FORCE and RAINBOW RIBBONS.

Near the finish line, MAJOR FORCE shifted out, resulting in CHANTIQUE being inconvenienced.

RACE 7: XXXX GOLD H'CAP - 1100M.

APPALACHE and KERNAGHAN were a little slow to begin.

IVORY ROAD and MAY ROYAL jumped away awkwardly.

Rounding the home turn, APPALACHE had to be steadied off the heels of IVORY ROAD, which shifted in.

N. Evans, rider of MAY ROYAL, dropped his whip near the finish line.


RACE 8: XXXX H'CAP - 1100M.

MISCELLANEA, which jumped away awkwardly, shifted out and contacted MORUYA.

SHADY and CASTLEREAGH MAGIC made contact on jumping away.

ICY GRIP shifted out at the start, tightening RAPID WOMAN.

DIAL A STAR shifted out at the start, cramping NOBLE EFFORT.

Rounding the home turn, SHADY shifted out to improve, taking NOBLE EFFORT and CASTLEREAGH MAGIC wider.

On entering the straight, MISCELLANEA laid out and brushed IMPERIAL HEART.

S. Katsidis, rider of MORUYA, was severely reprimanded for permitting his mount to shift out around the heels of MALBERRY HILL approaching the 100m., making heavy contact with SMOKEY HALO.



ALL WINNERS AND DARK WINE WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED.
