RACE 1: QUEENSLAND TIMES H'CAP - 1666M.

MR. BRANNIGAN was held up for a run in the early stages of the straight.

ROMANZA was also held up for clear running between the 250m. and 150m..

A. Parramore, rider of RAISE YOUR BID, accidentally dropped his whip approaching the 200m..


RACE 2: IPSWICH'S OWN MAGAZINE H'CAP - 1350M.

CALLING jumped outwards at the start, inconveniencing HON KWOK SPIRIT and MARY MACHREE.

MAKE A WISH was slow to begin.

S. Seamer, rider of the winner, APPREHENDED, accidentally dropped his whip near the 100m..

Passing the 100m., CANADIAN COMET was cramped for room by JUDE'S ANGEL, which commenced to lay in.

A swab sample was taken from the 2nd placegetter REAL FORCE


RACE 3: JIM BEAM H'CAP - 1200M.

MELLIERI jumped away awkwardly and lost ground.

GRAND BATAAN jumped outwards at the start, making contact with SOUPLESSE. GRAND BATAAN continued to veer out, resulting in SPORTS DIARY and WEST EXPRESS both being tightened for room.

JACK LIVES HERE was obliged to race wide in the middle stage.

When MADISON shifted out around the heels of CRYPTIC RED at the 450m., SOUPLESSE was taken out on to JACK LIVES HERE, resulting in both of those horses becoming unbalanced. N. Evans, rider of MADISON, was severely reprimanded and urged to exercise more care when shifting ground.

Upon straightening, FORGING'S LAD had to be checked off the heels of GRAND BATAAN, which commenced to tire. FORGING'S LAD was held up for clear running for the remainder of the event.

WEST EXPRESS was badly held up for the entire length of the straight.

JUST GUS and BASTEE BERSATU were also unable to obtain clear running, particularly over the concluding stages of the event.


RACE 4: QBBS BUNDAMBA PLATE SUPER QRIS ADDED STAKES H'CAP - 1350M.

SYDNAEE tended to overrace when obliged to race wide in the early stages.

Passing the 800m., ARAKAI had to be steadied off the heels of PRINCESS CLANG, which at that stage lost some ground when racing greenly.

OPTIMIZER raced very wide throughout the event.

A swab sample was taken from the 2nd placegetter SCREAMING EAGLE.


RACE 5: SCHWEPPES T.L. COONEY SUPER QRIS ADDED STAKES H'CAP - 1350M.

FOXMORE jumped inwards at the start, resulting in FAIR DECREE and LORD OBERON making contact.

At the 900m, DANLU shifted out, inconveniencing LAURINEL ARGIE.

R. Pittman reported that ARTIQUE was inclined to hang out during the event.

After being disappointed for a run to the inside of ARTIQUE on the home turn, ERINTEL (S. Katsidis) shifted out around the heels of that gelding, making contact with ANTARES. Whilst stewards acknowledged that his mount awkwardly at the heels of ARTIQUE for a number of strides, S. Katsidis, was nonetheless cautioned for shifting out in an abrupt manner.

Leaving the 200m., OURS was obliged to alter course to the inside when disappointed for a run between LEVANTE and the tiring TWIN FORTUNE.


RACE 6: YALUMBA EYE LINER STAKES - 1200M.

GOLDEN EYE was forced to race very wide on the first turn.

For some distance rounding the home turn, FEDERAL AGENT was held up behind PRIDE AND POWER and unable to improve.

EMINENT CHEVAL was also held up rounding the home turn.

THE KILDARE KID hung in severely over the final 50m., which necessitated its rider, J. Stanley, having to stop riding momentarily and straighten his mount. THE KILDARE KID continued to shift in after passing the winning post, resulting in severe crowding to PRENUPTIAL, FEDERAL AGENT, PROGRESS, EMINENT CHEVAL, CITICHY and CANGAZE, which as a consequence struck the heels of CITICHY and blundered badly. Whilst stewards acknowledged that the incident was attributable to the racing manners of THE KILDARE KID, and that he had made satisfactory endeavours to prevent his mount shifting ground prior to the winning post, J. Stanley was nonetheless cautioned and reminded of his obligations after the finishing line to prevent causing any incident which may prejudice the safety of other horses and their respective riders.

PROGRESS was forced to race wide for the majority of the event.

GREAT CRUSADER cast its off fore plate in running.

A swab sample was taken from the 2nd placegetter THE KILDARE KID.


RACE 7: XXXX IPSWICH CUP - 2150M.

Rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the straight until after passing the 200m., MR. SMUGG was held up for clear running.

When questioned, trainer L. Bridge was unable to provide any explanation for the performance of MISS ZOE today, and indicated that the mare would be sent for an immediate spell. Jockey G. Duffy was also at a loss to explain MISS ZOE'S performance, adding that she was under pressure prior to the home turn and failed to run on. A veterinary examination of MISS ZOE failed to reveal any abnormality. A swab sample was taken from MISS ZOE.

S. Galloway was questioned regarding the performance of SEA BREEZE and indicated that the horse travelled well during the event, however when the pace quickened from the 700m., SEA BREEZE failed to respond to his urgings and did not run on as expected. S. Galloway added that in his view SEA BREEZE has difficulty handling a middle distance in this company and seems better suited over distances around 1400 to 1600 metres.A veterinary examination of SEA BREEZE failed to reveal any abnormality.

D. Griffin, rider of the 5th placegetter, CHEMICAL BROTHER, was reprimanded for weighing in in excess of half a kilogram over his declared weight.

A swab sample was taken from the 2nd placegetter BRITISH BUSKA as well as the unplaced MISS ZOE.


RACE 8: NORTHERN CITY FINANCE PROVINCIAL H'CAP - 2150M.

SOUTHERN CROSS, which was unable to be loaded, was withdrawn by stewards at 4.44 p.m.. Subsequent to the event, all monies invested on SOUTHERN CROSS were ordered to be refunded, with deductions of 4 cents in the dollar on the face value of win bets, 5 cents in the dollar on the face value of place bets, applicable to successful wagers placed prior to the withdrawal time. Trainer s. Dwyer was advised that he would be required to provide a barrier test certificate for SOUTHERN CROSS prior to its next race start.

TELL DARCY was forced to race wide in the middle stages.

SUPERSTEAM shifted out around the heels of BORRACHERA at the 600m. and made contact with BISCUIT FLICKER.

At the 500m., SUPERSTEAM was taken out slightly by BORRACHERA, causing BUSCUT FLICKER to be further hampered.

A veterinary examination of BUSCUIT FLICKER, which failed to run on over the concluding stages, failed to reveal any abnormality.


ALL WINNERS, MISS ZOE, REAL FORCE, SCREAMING EAGLE, BRITISH BUSKA AND THE KILDARE KID WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED.
