WEATHER - FINE TRACK - GOOD RAIL - 1M. ALL TRACK
RACE 1: WWW.SKYCHANNEL.COM.AU H'CAP - 1500M.
Due to transport difficulties, Lee Roberts failed to arrive on course and was subsequently replaced by R. Pittman on SUMMER WALTZ.
TELINDA LAD was slow to begin.
Approaching the home turn, TIMESTO attempted to shift out from behind the heels of CLASSIC MANNER and made contact with HE'S A TREASURE.
HE'S A TREASURE was obliged to race 3 wide for the majority of the race.
RACE 2: XXXX AS GOOD AS GOLD H'CAP - 1000M.
Due to transport difficulties, J. Warrington replaced L. Morrison as the rider of MUSIC MAKER, and J. McKeon as the rider of QUICKLO.
On arrival at the course, AUNT AUD was inspected by the club's veterinary surgeon and passed fit to start.
COTA WARIBL, which was fractious in the barriers, was examined by the club's veterinary surgeon and passed fit to start.
CASH ALL OVER jumped inwards at the start, taking COTA WARIBL in on to JESSICA'S WISH.
A short distance after the start, DR GROUCH had to be eased to avoid the heels of CASH ALL OVER, which shifted in
GOOD SHOE commenced to hang out after leaving the 600m., and making the home turn forced JESSICA'S WISH, CASH ALL OVER and DEEARNE wider on the track. AUNT AUD, which was following, had to be steadied.
A veterinary examination of JESSICA'S WISH following the event revealed the filly to have sustained lacerations to both hind pasterns and a small laceration to the off stifle.
M. Bennett, rider of JESSICA'S WISH, was find $100 for weighing in in excess half a kilogram over his declared weight.
RACE 3: THANKS - NORTHERN CITY FINANCE H'CAP - 1200M.
On arrival at the course, TASMAN EXPRESS was inspected by the club's veterinary surgeon and passed fit to start.
MUSIC MAKER was slow to begin.
WHAT A DUDE jumped away awkwardly.
A short distance after the start, ALL THUNDER shifted out, taking THE WAITERS EYE out on to TREMORS, which had to be steadied.
S. Richardson, rider of TASMAN EXPRESS, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding, in that approaching the 1100m., he allowed his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of WHAT A DUDE, which resulted in WHAT A DUDE clipping the heels of TASMAN EXPRESS and D. Ballard being dislodged from WHAT A DUDE. S. Richardson was suspended from riding in races for a period covered by one calendar month, to commence at midnight, 10 July and to expire at midnight, 10 August 2004.
Approaching the 800m., BUSH BREAKFAST had to be steadied off the heels of the riderless horse and shifted out, which resulted in THE WAITERS EYE having to be checked off the heels of THE ROCK DOG. A short distance later, ALL THUNDER shifted out to avoid the heels of the riderless horse, causing M. Bennett to take hold of BUSH BREAKFAST.
THE ROCK DOG was obliged to race wide for the majority of the event.
RACE 4: ENJOY A SCHWEPPES LEMONADE H'CAP - 1350M.
As G. Lynch was to be overweight, L. Roberts was substituted as the rider of ALIDUN. G. Lynch was reprimanded.
Due to transport difficulties, M. Tarrant was unable to fulfil his engagment on MODERN RED and was replaced by G. Lynch.
MACULA jumped awkwardly.
SUPREME APPEAL and MODERN RED made contact on jumping away.
Shortly after the start, CLARINET shifted in, taking MACULA in on to the ALIDUN, which had to be steadied.
RACE 5: QUEENSLAND TIMES, OUR NEWS H'CAP - 1350M.
Apprentice L. Fyfe and stable representative M. Malee were questioned regarding the tactics adopted on INFECTIOUS. Apprentice Fyfe stated that after missing the start he elected to go forward…. and after obtaining the lead he was unable to restrained INFECTIOUS due to it being inclined to overrace. Stable foreman M. Malee verified the instructions given to L. Fyfe. Their comments were noted.
On jumping, MISS SEQUALO shifted in, taking ULTRA MODERN in on to FLASH CIRCLE.
MAJOR MACLEOD was obliged to race wide in the early and middle stages.
Over the concluding stages, GLOW OF LIGHT shifted in under pressure, taking INFECTIOUS in on to ULTRA MODERN, which had to be steadied.
Stewards questioned K. Cunningham in regards to her riding tactics adopted on GLADWILL. Miss Cunningham stated that she was instructed to position the horse where it was comfortable in the early and middle stages of the event. Miss Cunningham added that approaching the home turn, she attempted to improve, however was prevented from doing so by SAAMI KNIGHT, which was hanging in when racing to the outside of GLADWILL. Miss Cunningham further stated she was unable to test her mount fully at any stage in the straight due to being held up behind other runners. K. Cunningham's comments were noted.
L. Morrison will be questioned over her riding out of SAAMI KNIGHT over the concluding stages.
G. McKeon, rider of GLOW OF LIGHT, returned to scale in excess of half a kilogram over his declared riding weight. As this was G. McKeon's first contravention of this rule, stewards issued a reprimand only.
RACE 6: THANKS - Q.L.D. GROUP H'CAP - 1350M.
DESTINY AWAKEN and KOZMINSKY were both examined by the veterinary surgeon prior to this race and passed fit to start.
BARITONE shifted in at the start, resulting in CONGREGATE having to be steadied.
K. Cunningham, rider of BUCK'S OWN, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding, in that after the 1100m., she permitted her mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of DESTINY AWAKEN, resulting in DESTINY AWAKEN being forced in on to HEALER, causing HEALER to be checked and lose its position. DUALINER, which was following, was checked in consequence. K. Cunningham was suspended from riding in races for a period covered by 9 meetings, to commence at midnight, 11 July and to expire at midnight, 30 July 2004.
LET'S GROOVE was obliged to race wide in the early stages.
Passing the 500m., DUALINER improved up on to the heels of HEAVENLY DANE and had to be checked, and in so doing, shifted out, taking PRINCE LONSDALE out on to CONGREGATE.
At the entrance to the straight, BUCK'S OWN had to be steadied off the heels of NEXT RED.
HEALER was held up for clear running over the concluding stages.
Passing the 150m., NEXT RED shifted in under pressure, making contact with BANNER GIRL.
HEAVENLY DANE was unable to obtain a clear run at any stage in the straight.
RACE 7: PROUDLY AGRO H'CAP - 1100M.
On jumping away, MURDSA and ARCOT made contact on 2 occasions.
Approaching the 800m., MIAMI DRIVE (J. Sharp) shifted in, which resulted in IN THE JUNGLE and SWEET RACER racing in restricted room. A short distance later, MURDSA (A. Lane) improved to the inside of RUSSIAN KNIGHT (R. Goltz), resulting in MIAMI DRIVE and IN THE JUNGLE having to be checked. Stewards were of the opinion that no one rider was to blame for the incident, however jockeys Goltz, Lane and Sharp were reminded of their obligations to be fully clear when shifting ground.
For some distance passing the 200m., MIGHTY BLAZE was held up for clear running behind RUSSIAN KNIGHT.
A veterinary examination of LINCOLM ROAD following the event revealed a small puncture wound inside the near hind cannon.
RACE 8: PORTLAND SINGA (NZ) H'CAP - 1100M.
Due to transport difficulties, C. Spry replaced S. Apthorpe as the rider of MANAAR.
BLACK CENTURION was slow to begin.
CLAYMORE was obliged to race wide for the majority of the event.
ALL WINNERS WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED.
