Shortly after the start, PRETTY SMOOTH shifted in and away from LADY MUNDUBBERA, which resulted in LADY'S KING having to be steadied.

Passing the 400m., CHIEF SINGER commenced to hang out. KALINGA TATE, which was following, had to be steadied to avoid the heels of CHIEF SINGER.

MAGILL ROAD was obliged to race wide for the majority of the event.

Stewards advised trainer E. Pugh that the nomination of LADY'S KING for TAB meetings would be refused until the gelding showed improved form in the country areas.

Stewards questioned J. Byrne in regards to CAMP EDEN'S winning performance today as compared to its 10th of 16 at Ipswich on 21 July, beaten 8.8 lengths when ridden by J. Byrne. J. Byrne stated that for the majority of the event at Ipswich on 21 July, the mare raced in restricted room and was unable to obtain clear running in the straight, which prevented him from fully testing his mount. J. Byrne's comments were noted.

RACE 4: GIBB ACCOUNTANTS H'CAP - 1350M.

Approaching the 700m., B. Stewart attempted to restrain QUEEN CALLOW and take a sit, which resulted in his mount overracing and becoming unbalanced.

Stewards questioned trainer L. Richardson in relation to the improved performance of SOUTH WIND. Trainer L. Richardson stated that the gelding was having its first run for him at the Sunshine Coast on 1 August 2004. He further added in that event SOUTH WIND was obliged to race wide throughout the event, and, in his opinion, the performance was reasonable for a horse having its first start after a lengthy spell. L. Richardson also stated that the time for the race run on 1 August was exceptional, being 57.69, and in his opinion this made it very difficult for a horse racing wide and back in the field to make ground in the straight. L. Richardson's comments were noted.
