Race 1: Jasons Travel Media QTIS 3yo Maiden Plate – 800m
1st – Grand Folly 2nd – Warrego 3rd – Brigadoon Jack 4th - Isajoy

PERFECT OPTION, which was kicked behind the barriers, was examined by the veterinary surgeon and cleared to start.

HIGH GAIN (T. Pannell) jumped in the air and missed the start.

BRAVE THE WAY (G. Colless) and FORZA POTENZA (S. Drake) were slow to begin.

ON THE DANCE FLOOR (L. Cassidy) jumped outwards at the start and bumped ISAJOY (N. Thomas).

LADY CHICANE (S. Bogenhuber) jumped away awkwardly.

Near the 700m, LADY CHICANE had a tendency to lay in and had to be steadied momentarily to avoid the heels of GRAND FOLLY (S. Katsidis) as that horse shifted in.

BRAVE THE WAY (G. Colless) made the home turn awkwardly, forcing THE FIXER (W. Clasohm) wider.

Passing the 200m, BRIGADOON JACK (L. Rolls) commenced to shift ground under pressure, forcing WARREGO (J. Byrne) out on to BRAVE THE WAY which, when racing greenly, shifted out abruptly. L. Rolls, rider of BRIGADOON JACK, was advised to take greater measures to keep his mounts straight.

Near the finish line, WARRENGO shifted in, brushing BRIGADOON JACK.

Race 2: Hardys The Chronicles CG&E H'cap – 1100m
1st – Black Toni 2nd – Piccolo Knight 3rd – Snoberg 4th - Galvao

Trainer S. Chirnside was fined $100 for presenting DO OR DIE to the enclosure with incorrect gear.

SECRET DEPOSIT (J. Byrne) jumped in the air and missed the start.

GALVAO (L. Cassidy) jumped away awkwardly and shifted out, making contact with BINRASY (M. Heagney).

Near the 900m, DO OR DIE (W. Clasohm) was inclined to overrace and shifted out and hampered FANTASTIC KID (S. Galloway). MAALI (A. Kitson), which was following, had to be eased to avoid the heels of FANTASTIC KID.

Passing the 700m, MAALI had to be checked when tightened for room between FANTASTIC KID and SECRET DEPOSIT which, when overracing, shifted out and away from the rail. SECRET DEPOSIT then continued to overrace for some distance.

Near the 200m, MAKEM DAZZLE (B. Powell) had to be eased to avoid the heels of PICCOLO KNIGHT (A. Spinks), which shifted out to improve.

At the 150m, PICCOLO KNIGHT shifted out under pressure and brushed SEQUALO STORM (J. Taylor).

BINRASY, which raced 3 wide for the majority of the event, was inclined to race greenly in the early stages.

SEQUALO STORM also raced wide for the majority of the event.

STAR OF MAHER (W. Clasohm) also raced wide for the majority of the event.

S. Apthorpe, rider of OUR GREATMATE KATE, was found guilty of a charge under AR137(b) and fined $200, in that as the rider of the 5th placegetter OUR GREATMATE KATE failed to ride his mount right out to the finish line.

Race 4: Sunfresh Linen Tourism & Hospitality Cup Maiden Plate – 1666m

Race 5: True Blue Han F&M Class 1 H'cap – 1350m
1st – Camber D’Orsay 2nd – Sigurdardottir 3rd – Jessie Street 4th – French Bubbly

GRACEMERE (W. Clasohm) was slow to begin.

Near the 1100m the saddle on HUNTALION (L. Cassidy) shifted forward, placing L. Cassidy at a distinct disadvantage for the remainder of the race and the horse was eased out of the race approaching the home turn.

When questioned regarding the seemingly disappointing performance of MISTRESS LUCY, G. Colless stated that the horse had a nice run, however felt somewhat awkward in its action and did not finish the race off as expected and that it may have come to the end of its preparation. A post race veterinary examination of MISTRESS LUCY revealed the horse to be somewhat reluctant to stride out in its action, which was consistent with jockey Colless’s assessment of the horse being awkward in its action.

Stewards questioned apprentice M. Hellyer and trainer Mr B. Guy in relation to the disappointing performance of LINDO FALCAO and the riding tactics adopted on the horse today. Trainer B. Guy stated that he had specifically instructed apprentice Hellyer to ride the horse quietly as it had been stepped up in distance and was having its first start today over 1350m. When questioned as to the tactics to race the horse close to the lead today, M. Hellyer stated that from the wide barrier the horse jumped well and whilst he had been instructed to ride it quietly he was caught wide and rather than race wide for the entire race he elected to proceed forward, and whilst not in keeping with instructions he felt it was a better option at the time. M. Hellyer added that in hindsight it was not the best option and should have made a greater effort to restrain his mount at the start to ensure he complied with instructions. The explanation was noted. A post race veterinary examination of LINDO FALCAO failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.

Race 6: Reward Distribution CG&E Class 1 H'cap – 1350m
1st –Wynnum High 2nd – Status King 3rd – Demonstrator 4th – Romantic Venture

Shortly after the start, STATUS KING (M. Heagney) was tightened for room between GREY ENCOUNTER (S. Bogenhuber), which shifted in slightly, and PE TE CRUISER (K. Sawyers), which was taken out by BUY’N’SELL (A. Pattillo).

When questioned regarding the seemingly disappointing performance of TRISTABRAVE, S. Galloway stated that the horse had a nice run up to the 700m, and then from that point he eased out wider on the track to improve, however the horse did not handle the home turn well and changed stride on several occasions and was not fully balanced. He added that it took some distance into the straight for the horse to fully balance up. Trainer’s representative Mr L. Rolls stated that the horse is a big long-strider and felt that he was not comfortable on the home turn and may be better suited to bigger tracks similar to Eagle Farm. A post race veterinary examination of TRISTABRAVE failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.

Race 7: Best Western Ipswich Class 3 Plate – 1100m
1st – Blackwoods Choice 2nd – Falvalea 3rd – Van Rooyen 4th – Romac’s Express

DR CHICAGO (M. Hellyer) jumped away awkwardly and missed the start.

ON THE CHARGE (T. Pannell) was tightened for room shortly after the start between NEW JOURNEY (L. Cassidy), which shifted out slightly, and VAN ROOYEN (D. Griffin), which was taken in by FALVALEA (B. Stewart).

JOURNEY ON (K. Banks) jumped outwards at the start, forcing BLUE CRUISER (S. Apthorpe) out on to BLACKWOODS CHOICE (R. Goltz).

NEW JOURNEY was held up rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the straight.

DR CHICAGO was held up for clear running rounding the home turn and could not gain clear running until after leaving the 200m.

Race 8: Country Comfort Class 2 H'cap – 1666m
1st – Flawless Choice 2nd – Steady Poplar 3rd – Attallus 4th – Loaded Tycoon

C. Reith sustained a harmless fall from LOADED TYCOON when proceeding to the barriers. LOADED TYCOON then cantered back to the barriers, examined by the club's veterinary surgeon and cleared to race.

YICKADEE (C. Kearney) and KWILA SUNRISE (J. Taylor) missed the start.

SHEEZA DRAMA (R. Hinricks) got its head up and was inclined to race ungenerously rounding the first turn.

On straightening, DAINTREE CROSSING (L. Cheshire) was cramped for room between SITTINBUL (D. Griffin), which shifted out to improve, and FLAWLESS CHOICE (B. Stewart), which shifted in, making contact with the hind quarters of DAINTREE CROSSING.

SHEEZA DRAMA and ATTALLUS (M. Speers) were caught wide on the first turn and raced wide for a major portion of the race.
