Race 1: RAY WHITE IPSWICH H’CAP – 1666M
1st – Funen Island 2nd – On Motion 3rd – Wabeel 4th – Rusty Feather

AMOREENA (J. Holder) began awkwardly and shifted out making contact with SUNSTANCE (D. Barron).

Near the 1400m IRON HAWK (L. Cassidy) was tightened for room when racing to the inside of RUMOROSO (J. Taylor), which shifted in.

Leaving the 1300m IRON HAWK shifted out taking RUMOROSO wider on the track.

YOU’VE GOTTALOVEIT (M. Hellyer) hung out badly during the early and middle stages of the event. Trainer T. Gillespie’s representative was advised that YOU’VE GOTTALOVEIT must barrier trial satisfactorily before racing again.

RUMOROSO was retired from the race approaching the 1200m. A post-race veterinary examination of RUMOROSO revealed that due to the extent of injuries to its near foreleg RUMOROSO was euthanased on humane grounds.

ON MOTION (M. Heagney) was held up for clear running in the early stages of the straight.

Near the 200m REDWOOD LASS (K. Ashton) was tightened for room when racing between KADJABI DIVA (L. Cheshire) and SUNSTANCE which was taken out by AMOREENA. J. Holder, the rider of AMOREENA, was reprimanded under AR. 137(a).

Race 2: SCHWEPPES H’CAP – 1100M
1st – Another Welcome 2nd – Bom Chicka Wah Wah 3rd – Korat 4th – Belmarie

GREY MAMBO was a late scratching at 12.32 p.m. by order of the stewards acting on veterinary advice after the horse was found to be lame in the near fore fetlock. On the announcement of correct weight, stewards ordered that all monies invested on GREY MAMBO be refunded, with deductions of 9 cents in the dollar on the face value of win tickets and 10 cents in the dollar on the face value of place tickets to apply. Trainer M. Wilson was advised that he must produce a veterinary clearance for GREY MAMBO before the horse again races.

TWO LIPSTICKS (J. Taylor) began awkwardly and shifted out inconveniencing LIGHTNING BLUE (S. Bogenhuber).

RIPLEY GLEN (S. Seamer) and TSULOVE (A. Pattillo) both jumped away awkwardly.

KORAT (D. Green) and UNREFUSEABLE (Matthew Palmer) made contact on jumping away.

RIPLEY GLEN and LIGHTNING BLUE were both caught wide for the majority of the event.

Leaving the 200m UNREFUSEABLE was disappointed for a run between TWO LIPSTICKS and BELMARIE (S. Katsidis) and had to be steadied, which resulted in UNREFUSEABLE being unable to obtain clear running to the finish.

When questioned as to the seemingly improved performance of ANOTHER WELCOME today compared to its unplaced run at Caloundra on 28 May, apprentice K. Ashton said that at its previous start the horse was inclined to overrace during the early and middle stages of the event and then when asked for an effort in the straight did not finish the race off due to its condition. She further was of the opinion that the addition of a tongue tie to the gear of ANOTHER WELCOME today was a contributing factor to the horse’s improved performance and the fact that the horse was having its second run and had taken obvious benefit from the race on 28 May.

Race 3: XXXX AS GOOD AS GOLD MAIDEN PLATE – 1100M
1st – Better Option 2nd – Shezamyth 3rd – Celtic Dancer 4th – Zamboni

BATTLE STATIONS (N. Thomas) was examined by the veterinary surgeon at the barriers after the horse slipped over in the enclosure. After examination the horse was passed fit to start.

As a result, FAIRDINSKY, which was racing to the inside of CRAFTY'S LAST, shifted in making contact with STRAIGHTUP HUSTLER (J. Taylor). BATTLE STATIONS, which was trailing, was inconvenienced in this incident.

ENCINITAS (S. Scriven), GOA (M. Cahill) and BETTER OPTION (J. Bowditch) were all caught racing wide for the majority of the event.

Near the 500m BETTER OPTION shifted out and bumped ENCINITAS.

CRAFTY'S LAST raced greenly in the straight.

Race 4: QUEENSLAND TIMES H’CAP – 1000M
1st – Kwilajoy 2nd – Lass Ee 3rd – Fiery Lad 4th – Rapt In Rhythm

FEMALE ASSASSIN (B. Looker) and PEEP (D. Green) were both slow to begin.

FLAXEN BELLE was inclined to lay in in the early stages and near the 900m shifted in and bumped TYCOON IS IN.

FLAXEN BELLE and MOSSETARSI (K. Wharton) raced wide throughout.

MOSSETARSI was inclined to lay in under pressure rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the straight.

Leaving the 200m FLAXEN BELLE was tightened for room when racing between MOSSETARSI and KWILAJOY (S. Katsidis) which shifted out and away from TYCOON IS IN.

FIERY LAD (E. Kehoe) was inclined to shift out under pressure over the final 200m.

HAWKINS HILL (S. Seamer) had a tendency to hang out in the early stages of the event and the horse tired badly over the final 400m. A post-race veterinary examination of HAWKINS HILL revealed no abnormalities.

Race 5: RECRUITMENT QUEENSLAND H’CAP – 800M
1st – Seqsational 2nd – Red Wine Bwana 3rd – Carry To Fortune 4th – Duckin’ Daisies

STAR OF FRISCO was a late scratching at 12.08 p.m. Trainer D. Brusnahan was advised that a veterinary certificate of fitness will be required before the horse again races.

CARRY TO FORTUNE (D. Barron) and JUST CINDERS (N. Evans) both began awkwardly.

HESANOTHADOLLAR (L. Cheshire) was slow to begin.

HESANOTHADOLLAR and BALLY KELLY (S. Guymer) both made the turn awkwardly leaving the 500m and as a consequence ADVENTUROUS ANGEL (B. Thomson), which was racing to the outside of BALLY KELLY, was forced wider.

D. Barron, the rider of CARRY TO FORTUNE, was reprimanded under AR. 137A(5)(a)(i) for striking that filly with the whip in consecutive strides prior to the 100m.

A post-race veterinary examination of ADVENTUROUS ANGEL revealed the mare had sustained a laceration to the nearside stifle.

Approaching the turn out of the front straight near the 1500m SYDNEY OR THE BUSH (G. Colless) and NOVA CHENKA were tightened for racing room when racing to the inside of EMELIANENKO (R. Hinricks). Apprentice R. Hinricks was reprimanded under AR. 137(a) for allowing her mount to shift in at that point when insufficiently clear.

STARLET O'HARA (B. El-Issa) was caught wide in the early and middle stages.

CARRY ME BABY (A. Butler) raced wide for the majority of the event.

Near the 500m TOO GOOD (C. Eaton) was checked when racing to the inside of NOVA CHENKA which shifted in after making contact with SYDNEY OR THE BUSH. After taking evidence from the riders concerned, G. Colless was charged under AR. 137(a) for being careless in allowing his mount to shift in. However, after considering further submissions from G. Colless and N. Tomizawa, the rider of NOVA CHENKA, the charge was not sustained and G. Colless was given the benefit of the doubt as to whether he was fully responsible.

Near the 400m RUN JAKE RUN (J. Taylor) had to be eased away from the heels of SYDNEY OR THE BUSH which shifted out slightly. KINGS DANSEUR (B. Looker), which was racing to the outside, shifted out, resulting in MORONGLA (M. Cahill) being tightened for room when racing inside of SIR KNIGHT (M. Hellyer) which maintained its position.

When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of SYDNEY OR THE BUSH, G. Colless stated that the horse travelled well in the early stages of the event but was under pressure leaving the 600m. A post-race veterinary examination of SYDNEY OR THE BUSH revealed no abnormalities at the time of examination. Stewards will interview trainer A. Bailey at a later date in relation to the horse’s poor performance.

PINK GARDENIA and BILLUM were held up for clear running rounding the home turn.

ZENTON was held up for clear running rounding the home turn and could not obtain clear running at any stage in the straight.

SILVER CHALLENGE lost its near hind plate in running.

Race 8: OUR LUKAS (NZ) H’CAP – 1666M
1st – Side To Side 2nd – Powerful Sphere 3rd – Dorado Beach 4th – Dane Raider
