Race 2: Back Fall Bruno Nichols Maiden Plate – 1100m
1st –Red Hot Hussler 2nd – Discover The Gold 3rd – Discover The Gold 4th – Monashee Success

Stewards questioned J. Byrne regarding his notification as the rider of RIVARDE. After taking evidence from J. Byrne, stewards were of the opinion there were mitigating circumstances and took no further action.

JIMMY CRACKCORN (D. Barron) and LIFE TO THE MAX (C. Munce) were slow to begin.

ZEDITAVE PLUS (K. Ashton) began awkwardly.

LIFE TO THE MAX (C. Munce) was inclined to lay in in the early stages of the straight. ELLYEM (S. Drake), which was following, was inconvenienced as a consequence.

RIVARDE (J. Taylor) raced 3 wide for the majority of the race.

BELLASPIRIT (R. Wiggins) lost its off fore plate in running.

Following this race the track rating was upgraded to Slow 7.

MR GIFFORD (M. Palmer) had to be checked at the start between POPPY’S REVENGE (D. Green) and COUNT NEDIYM (J. Taylor), which shifted in after beginning awkwardly.

SEVEN WONDERS (B. El-Issa) was slow to begin.

For a short distance approaching the 700m, COUNT NEDIYM (J. Taylor) overraced at the heels of GROUNDSHAKER (D. Griffin) when that horse yielded some ground at that point of the race.

SEVEN WONDERS raced wide for the majority of the event.

Trainer P. Nolan reported that SEVEN WONDERS had been galloped on on the off foreleg, and had cast its off hind plate in running.

CENT A SIGN (P. Wolfgram) was tightened for room at the start between LIBERTY’S MAGIC (S. Seamer) and VINNIES HALO (D. Green), which shifted out.

ANNIA MINOR (J. Byrne) overraced during the middle stages.

TIME MARGIN raced wide for the majority of the event before tiring badly from the 600m. Stewards advised trainer G. Livermore that whilst noting TIME MARGIN was having its first race start and obliged to race wide, the onus was being placed him not to start the mare until he was confident that TIME MARGIN would perform to the desired standard. A post race veterinary examination of TIME MARGIN failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.

Stewards questioned jockey D. Green and trainer’s representative Mr G Cameron regarding the improved performance of VINNIES HALO in today’s event as compared to the tactics adopted on the horse in its recent 2 starts this campaign. Mr Cameron stated that the instructions were to have the horse in a more forward position today as it was the intention to take advantage of the barrier draw and the fact that VINNIES HALO was stepping up to a more suitable distance. Jockey Green confirmed the instructions and believed that a contributing factor in the gelding’s performance today was that after finding the lead he was able to dictate the tempo of the race. After considering the matter, stewards noted the explanations, however connections were advised they would expect the horse to be ridden in a similar manner in future events.

Race 7: Altec Patios QTIS 3yo Maiden H'cap – 1200m
1st – Mount Kosciuszko 2nd – Commanding Lass 3rd – Power Source 4th – My Opportunity

RAPID LEICA JACKO (G. Colless), which initially began awkwardly, was tightened for room shortly after the start between NO HALOS (S. Galloway) and GOLDEN KID (T. Fujinuma), which shifted out.

HE’S PURRFECT (D. Griffin) threw its head in the air when being restrained approaching the 800m.

THE GINGERMEISTER (C. Munce) had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early stages of the straight.

JAM TIN (K. Banks) was inclined to shift out under pressure over the final 300m.

MANAHIDE (J. Letherby) and HE’S PURRFECT raced wide throughout.

When questioned regarding the seemingly disappointing performance of RAPID LEICA JACKO, G. Colless stated although tightened for room at the start of the race and settling further back than anticipated, the horse travelled well, however he was concerned with the gelding’s action over the latter stages of the race. A post race veterinary examination of RAPID LEICA JACKO found no abnormalities. Stewards will contact trainer G. Ryan regarding the post-race recovery of the gelding at a later date.

MANAHIDE broke down in the off foreleg. A veterinary clearance would be required for the gelding should the horse race again.
