Race 3: XXXX GOLD MAIDEN H’CAP – 1100M

A delay was caused to the start of this race when CHICAGO BOUND (T. Harrison) had to be replated and was late arriving at the barriers.

LETS FALL IN LOVE, MEGADEMA, CHICAGO BOUND (T. Harrison), MIATOKO (S. Seamer) and OUR LITTLE MISSY (J. Taylor) all raced wide throughout.

Apprentice T. Harrison, the rider of CHICAGO BOUND, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR. 137(a) in that near the 400m she permitted her mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of JOH THE PAINTER (L. Finlay), resulting in that runner being tightened for room between CHICAGO BOUND and MILLION DOLLAR MAN and having to be checked. Apprentice T. Harrison’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 7 meetings, with the term of suspension to commence at midnight on Sunday, 17 July, and expire at midnight on Friday, 29 July 2011.

Near the 100m LADY AGULHAS was awkwardly placed at the heels of MELANOTIS, which commenced to weaken.

P. Hammersley was afforded the opportunity of explaining the disappointing performance of BEACH LADY. P. Hammersley stated that the filly travelled well, although at various stages from the 800m dropped the bit and he had to ride vigorously to maintain his position in the field. P. Hammersley added that over the final stages BEACH LADY worked to the line fairly but in his opinion may not have been entirely comfortable racing to the inside of horses as at its previous starts it had been ridden from the rear of the field and made its run wide on the track. A post-race veterinary examination of BEACH LADY revealed no significant findings other than that the filly had sustained a laceration to the off hind cannon.
