Race 1: QUEENSLAND TIMES MAIDEN H’CAP – 1010M
BULLCAMP RED – Brushed by another runner when racing greenly leaving the 900m and soon after shifted in and had to be checked to avoid heels, and then shifted out and made heavy contact with PEARLY COURT.
AMERICAN SPIRIT – Hung off badly approaching the first turn near the 800m and was retired from the race. Trainer M. Nolan was advised that the filly must compete satisfactorily in an official barrier trial prior to racing again.
HIDDEN REIGN – Jumped very awkwardly and made contact with another runner. Raced greenly throughout. Steadied from heels near the 800m. Inclined to lay in rounding the home turn and momentarily became awkward at the heels of another runner.
HONEY AND ROSES – Slow to begin.
PEARLY COURT – Bumped at the start. Brushed another runner near the 900m and had to be checked to avoid heels approaching the 800m and was then obliged to race three wide without cover from that point.
Race 2: XXXX GOOD AS GOLD BM75 H’CAP – 1010M
Trainer S. Ryan was fined $100 for presenting SUSASHI to race with incorrect gear.
SUSASHI – Apprentice A. Allen was reminded of his obligations to ride his mounts out to the end of the race.
NICKIERA – Raced in restricted room approaching the home turn.
BLOODED – Began very awkwardly and was then hampered soon after the start when tightened for room between runners.
CRAIGLEA CRUZ – Lost its off fore plate in running.
STELLARCRAFT – Hampered at the start.
TORERO – Hampered at the start.
Race 3: BUNDABERG RUM MAIDEN H’CAP – 1690M
TORCH – Apprentice B. Grylls stated that the gelding travelled comfortably in the early stages but failed to respond to her riding over the final 400m. She added that in her view the horse was not suited on the firm conditions today. A post-race veterinary examination revealed that the gelding had nasal mucus discharge.
SHADOW RULER – Overraced in the early stages.
BRANDLI – Raced three wide without cover throughout before weakening from the 600m. Apprentice C. Schmidt reported that the mare weakened badly over the final 600m and it is the intention now of connections to send BRANDLI for an immediate spell. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.
LAURA'S REIGN – Slow to begin. Had difficulty securing clear running in the home straight until approaching the 100m.
ROAD TRAIN ROSIE – When questioned regarding the improved performance, trainer T. Sears stated that the mare raced on an unsuitable surface last start in a Class 1 race and previous to that suffered interference on the home turn, and on the basis of those factors at its most recent starts, as well as the drop back in class today, he was confident of a forward showing today. Stewards noted his explanation.
Race 4: RAY WHITE QTIS 3YO MAIDEN H’CAP – 1200M
Stewards accepted the explanation for the late declaration of B. Stewart as the rider of I'M ALONE.
FORTINI – Inconvenienced when tightened between runners near the 1100m.
I'M ALONE – Rider B. Stewart was found guilty of a charge of careless riding in that approaching the 1000m he permitted his mount to shift in when not sufficiently clear of STAR DROP, which had to be steadied to avoid the heels of I'M ALONE, resulting in STAR DROP being taken in on to FORTINI, which had to be steadied when tightened for room. B. Stewart's licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 8 meetings, to commence at midnight on Saturday 8 November and expire at midnight on Thursday 20 November 2014.
MILK 'N' BRANDY – Raced three wide without cover throughout.
STAR DROP – Shifted in and away from another runner near the 1100m despite the efforts of its rider.
BERGDORF – Rider M. Cahill was questioned regarding his riding tactics in the early stages. He explained that he was instructed to settle the horse midfield with cover if possible, but from the wide barrier, after travelling a short distance, rather than be caught wide throughout, he elected to restrain to the rear of the field. Jockey Cahill added that BERGDORF worked to the line strongly and finished the race off well. He further added that in his view the filly will be suited over a longer distance and when able to take up a midfield position with cover.
MR SANDMAN – Had to be checked when tightened for room near the 1100m.
Race 5: OPTUS CLASS 3 H’CAP – 1200M
HOW CAN I HELP – Raced three wide without cover throughout.
PRUSSIAN HEART – Had to be eased off heels when the pace steadied after passing the 800m.
BUNDY – Had to be restrained from heels near the 700m.
Race 6: SCHWEPPES BM75 H’CAP – 1350M
TRICKIN – Steadied from heels for a considerable distance after passing the 1000m.
BARONESS ZEENA – Due to the slow tempo the horse was ridden forward in the middle stages to take the lead approaching the 700m.
PANTALETTES – Raced ungenerously when leading in the early and middle stages.
Race 7: SIRROMET CLASS 2 H’CAP – 1690M
