KILCOY RACE CLUB STEWARDS REPORT FRIDAY, 4.4.03

STEWARDS PANEL: Mr C. McLune (Chairman), Mr J. Hackett, Mr W. Birch, Mr C. Waller (Cadet).

WEATHER - FINE TRACK - GOOD

GENERAL: Jockey A. Pattillo was found guilty of misconduct, in that in the scales' area he did in an aggressive manner thrust his saddle and body at jockey L. Appo, making contact with the upper body of Lyle Appo. A. Pattillo was fined the sum of $200.


RACE 1: REDCLIFFE LEAGUES CLUB H'CAP - 1200M.

MARKNI and MISTER DE BALI were slow to begin.

AVASEUS was inclined to hang out rounding the 800m. turn.

MISTER DE BALI was also inclined to hang out on the home turn.

A veterinary examination of EXPLODE WITH JOY revealed the mare to have pulled up lame in the near foreleg.


RACE 2: REDCLIFFE LEAGUES CLUB H'CAP - 1060M.

Due to transport difficulties, B. Rhodes was unable to fulfil his commitment on TIE BOW and was replaced by W.J. Cook.

BELLE'S ODYSSEY jumped away awkwardly.

VEE ROD and TIE BOW were severely checked on jumping away between BRINGALILLY BELLE and MARY MAY, which was taken out by OCTONE.

OUR GIRL ANNIE shifted out and made contact with GOTHIC STAR at the start. GOTHIC STAR then commenced to buck for a short distance. Trainer G. Banks was that the GOTHIC STAR'S racing manners would be monitored in the near future and that if the gelding was to offend again in similar circumstances, GOTHIC STAR may be required trial before starting again.

Near the 600m., OCTONE had to be eased momentarily to avoid the heels of BELLE'S ODYSSEY, which shifted in slightly.

When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of LION'S REIGN, trainer K. Pattillo stated that whilst the gelding had trialled reasonably, he was of the opinion that LION'S REIGN may be looking for more distance in its races later in its career. A veterinary examination of LION'S REIGN failed to reveal any abnormality.


RACE 3: REDCLIFFE LEAGUES CLUB H'CAP - 1060M.

R. Morris, who was dislodged from HE'S NO GENTLEMAN in the enclosure, was examined by the club's medical officer and stood down from his engagement on that colt. W. J. Cook was substituted as the rider of HE'S NO GENTLEMAN. Following this event, R. Morris again examined and cleared to fulfil his remaining engagements. The starting time for this event was rescheduled to 1.30 p.m. due to HE'S NO GENTLEMAN having to be resaddled.

AHOY BOYS became fractious in the barriers and reared over, dislodging R. Pittman. AHOY BOYS was examined by the club's veterinary surgeon and passed fit to start.

MONKEYPICKEN jumped awkwardly and lost ground.

CHELSEA BELLE was slow to begin.

HE'S NO GENTLEMAN shifted out at the start and made heavy contact with CRYSTAL LANE, which in turn hampered MANGO ROAD. MANGO ROAD then commenced to race ungenerously for some distance.

Approaching the 400m., ICEFLOE shifted out to improve and in doing so momentarily hampered CLAMBER.

A post race veterinary examination of AHOY BOYS revealed the filly to have sustained a minor laceration to the off foreleg.

RACE 4: REDCLIFFE LEAGUES CLUB H'CAP - 1060M.

VE EYE PE bucked for some distance after the start, which resulted in the gelding losing considerable ground.. Trainer P. Strong was advised that VE EYE PE would be required to trial satisfactorily prior to its next race start.

CRAIGLEA FORCE blundered on jumping away.

Leaving the 900m., GIFTED ACE had to be momentarily steadied to avoid the heels of DEVONPORT, which was placed in restricted room momentarily by CRAIGLEA FORCE.


RACE 5: REDCLIFFE LEAGUES CLUB H'CAP - 800M.

RIVERNIDO was fractious in the barriers, resulting in apprentice H. O'Hara injuring her leg and being unable to fulfil her engagement on the horse. RIVERNIDO was declared a late scratching at 2.40 p.m.. Subsequent to the event, all monies invested on RIVERNIDO were ordered to be refunded, with deductions of 8 cents in the dollar on the face value of win bets, 9 cents in the dollar on the face value of place bets, applicable to successful wagers placed prior to the withdrawal time.

MURASAP jumped outwards at the start and made contact with ANDOM NIE.

LEADER MOONSHINE reared up and lost ground at the start.

Approaching the 600m., ZEEBELLE was buffeted for room for some distance between MAYNE DEGREE and ANDOM NIE, both of which shifted ground. This resulted in ZEEBELLE losing some ground.





RACE 6: REDCLIFFE LEAGUES CLUB H'CAP - 800M.

PACIFIC MELODY shifted in at the start, resulting in both ZALZALLA and AL DANCER being hampered.

L. Appo, rider of MISS CONGENIALITY, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding, in that passing the 300m., he failed to make sufficient effort to prevent his mount shifting in, which resulted in TELEWIN being tightened for room and in turn shifting in, making heavy contact with PACIFIC MELODY and DANGER SPICE. L. Appo was suspended from riding in races for a period covered by 8 meetings, to commence at midnight, 6 April, and to expire at midnight, 20 April 2002.

RACE 7: REDCLIFFE LEAGUES CLUB H'CAP - 1500M.

On return to scale, a protest was lodged by A. Baker, rider of the 4th placegetter, TOO DARK, against IN NEW YORK being declared 3rd, alleging interference leaving the 150m.. After taking evidence from the parties concerned and viewing the official video, stewards found that at the 150m. TOO DARK was impeded when attempting a narrow run to the inside of IN NEW YORK. Approaching the finish line, TOO DARK then had to be checked off the heels of IN NEW YORK. After taking into consideration the 1 3/4 length margin which separated both horses at the finish and the proximity of the incident to the winning post, stewards were not satisfied that the placings should be reversed and the protest was therefore dismissed and the Judges placings confirmed.

TOO DARK jumped the crossing after passing the winning post on the first occasion and shifted in, hampering RUSTY RANCH.

Approaching the home turn, SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE shifted out and made contact with TOO DARK, which in turn brushed IANANGER. A short distance later, TOO DARK had to be steadied after improving up on to the heels of BY DEFAULT.

BY DEFAULT hung out and lost ground rounding the first turn.


RACE 8: REDCLIFFE LEAGUES CLUB H'CAP - 1200M.

At the start, JUST GUS and CAPICE were tightened for room between RED CHIP and BARREL OF FUN, both of which shifted ground. A short distance later, as a result of this tightening CAPICE became unbalanced and lost significant ground.

Approaching the 900m., BARREL A FUN commenced to race fiercely and had to be restrained off the heels of LORD KARIOI.


RACE 9: REDCLIFFE LEAGUES CLUB H'CAP - 1200M.

SON A BOW was slow to begin.

Approaching the 600m., AMBER TRAIL was momentarily tightened for room when IMPERIAL HEART shifted in.

SON A BOW hung out rounding the home turn.


ALL WINNERS WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED.
