Race 1 Maiden Handicap – 1000 Metres – 7 Starters
LET’S ALIGHT (A Tighe) slowly away. Gates on barrier 2 swung back onto LET’S ALIGHT. Reported to the starter for action who reported that he had detected a problem with that gate which had since been rectified. FLAMIN’MO (R Bellert) jumped outwards into ROMANTIC NIGHT(R Hammond). Trainer A Cameron warned (first offence) for failing to notify riders. H C Forster fined $25 for failing to notify jockey WHITE WATER RAFT.
Race 2 Class 2 Handicap - 1300 Metres – 6 Starters

Race 3 Class 4 Handicap - 1000 Metres- 4 Starters
W Hornery replaced by W J Cook on KEEN MATCH when unable to make the weight.

Race 4 Class 6 Handicap - 1000 Metres- 9 Starters
J Cerchi replaced by W Hornery on SPORTY PRINCE when unable to make the weight. J Cerchi fined $50 for taking a ride for which he could not make the weight. The gates on barrier 4 failed to open causing RED MORATO to miss the start. RED MORATO was declared a non runner and all monies on that horse were ordered refunded. Deductions of 20c win and 16c place were ordered in accordance with the provisions of the Racing and Betting Act.

Race 5 Open Handicap - 1300 Metres - 11 Starters
J Cerchi fined $25 for failing to notify rider on OPEN PEARLY GATES. Trainer J McConachy reported a showing of blood in the near nostril of THE IRISHMAN prior to the race. A veterinary examination revealed and abrasion inside the nostril. The horse was cleared to start. Wade Hornery was permitted to ride BOURBON ROSE 1.5kg overweight as no other rider was available. W Hornery was fined $100 for accepting a ride for which he could not make the weight. His master A Clark stated that he had been told by W Hornery that he would make the weight or be a half kg over. W Hornery has been warned about not being able to use some or all of his claim.
