Prior to the running of race one Stewards were notified that App I French was not on course and he was replaced as per the summary sheet .
RACE 1 MITCHELL MEDICAL PRACTICE MAIDEN PLATE -800M
1ST AWKWARD PAUSES 2ND STEP AROUND 3RD CHERRY TREE LANE 4TH MYSTERY MAN.
Stewards replaced App I French who was late on course as per the Summary Sheet
CHERRY TREE LANE ( R Kerwin ) was slow to begin and raced wide until rounding the home turn .
Over the final 100m of the event CHERRY TREE LANE commenced to lay in .
Stewards interviewed App I French as to the reasons for his late arrival .No action was taken and his explanation was accepted .
RACE 2 MCINNES WILSON / TILLYS CRAWLER PARTS /HARTLEY BROS.
QTIS CLASS 2 --- 1000M
1ST FALLEN 2ND FREIGHTER 3RD FINE FEATHER 4TH MIDORI LAD
SUPERIOR AUTHORITY (W Glass ) refused to jump and stood flat footed at the start . Stewards interviewed both Jockey W Glass and connections after the running of the race and subsequently banned Superior Authority to 2 official jump outs
VERGE OF DISCOVERY (R Kerwin ) was hampered at the start by I’M A SEQUALO (APP I French) which jumped in abruptly.
I’M A SEQUALO (APP I French) continued to lay in throughout the race and made heavy contact with the rail at the 600m and again at the 250m resulting in App I French requiring medical attention for minor lacerations to his right foot .
App I French was later cleared to take the remainder of his rides by the medical staff.
Stewards interviewed connections and banned I’M A SEQUALO to an official trial .
EMPIRE LINE (B Appo ) raced wide throughout the event .
RACE 3 J&J DIXON /M&I DONOHOE/ GOOD FRIENDS CONNECTIONS
CLASS B --1200M
1ST CHIEF INSPECTOR 2ND LITTLE SKIPPER 3RD FUEL’N’WATER 4TH PRINCE ANTIBES
SANDSTORM ( J Baker ) was slow to begin
Approaching the 800m PRINCE ANTIBES ( B Appo ) commenced to lay out .
CHIEF INSPECTOR (C Bryen ) raced wide throughout the event .
Stewards interviewed Jockey J Baker and connections after the running of the event to seek an explanation for the poor performance of SANDSTORM . Both were of the opinion that the horses showed no interest and jockey Baker stated that the horse raced like a tired horse and needed a spell . Connections were of the same opinion and told Stewards that it was their intention to spell the horse
RACE 4 MIXED BUSINESS HOUSES CLASS 6 --1200M
1ST CLASSICUS 2ND COCKTAIL SHAKER 3RD ELYSIAN FIELD 4TH TWO TO CLANGO
CALL ME VICTOR ( C Rogers ),ELYSIAN FIELD( J Baker ) and COCKTAIL SHAKER ( J Cook ) were all slow to begin .
CLASSICUS ( W Glass ) raced wide from the 600m of the event .
CALL ME VICTOR ( C Rogers ) was inclined to lay in rounding the home turn .
RACE 5 DAVID BARRY OPEN HCP --1000M
1ST AL KHAFRA 2ND CENTATEL 3RD OPAL TRADER 4TH GEDA DEE JAY
BLUE COUGAR (W Glass ) began awkwardly
JUST DIFFERENT (C Bryen ) which began slowly ,was hampered by OPAL TRADER ( R Kerwin) which jumped in and PACK OF GOLD ( W Cook ) which jumped out .
