RACE 2. HOTEL AUSTRALIA QTIS MAIDEN PLATE 1050M

Shortly after arriving at the barriers PIMPANA ( I Coombes) shied at the stalls, spun around and lost balance causing the rider to be dislodged. Whilst the horse was recaptured and jockey Coombes was attended to by the Ambulance officers all runners were returned to the saddling enclosure due to the extended delay. PIMPANA was subsequently withdrawn 2.10pm. Upon the declaration of correct weight, Stewards ordered that all bets placed on PIMPANA be refunded with the following deductions apply.

Winner BAY RUST 6c win 7 c place
Second MORE THAN SUPERB 7c place
Third HONEY BLONDE 7c place
BREWING MAGIC (A Taylor) jumped out badly at the start contacting JUST AS SWEET ( B Powell).

BREWING MAGIC over raced in the early stages and when restrained lost ground.

OLD BAMBOO (R Payne ) began awkwardly and at the 500m the rider dropped her whip.

MAGIC BABE (C Kearney) raced poorly and was sent for a Veterinary Inspection. The filly was found to be extremely shin sore in both front legs. Trainer S McEwan advised that the filly will be sent for an immediate spell. MAGIC BABE will require a Veterinary Certificate before racing again.

Jockey I Coombes returned to the course after receiving treatment for ligament damage to his right knee and was advised to seek further medical treatment. Jockey Coombes will require a Medical Clearance prior to riding again.

AFRICAN CHILD ( R Payne ) jumped into the barriers at the start sustaining a superficial wound to the mares offside leg.

CALL A TRUCE ( B Powell) was slowly away .

BEAUTIFUL MEG ( S Bayliss ) raced wide on the turn out of the straight at the 1300m. BEAUTIFUL MEG performance was discussed with trainer C Rogers and owner Mr Wehl as the filly finished 22len. from the winner. Trainer Rogers explained that BEAUTIFUL MEG was a maiden galloper racing in a Class 2 and that the filly required staying distances to show her best and therefore the stable was finding it difficult to find suitable distance races in Maiden class.
