SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT ROCKHAMPTON JOCKEY CLUB 13th APRIL 2006
Race 5: McDonald’s Family Restaurant Class 2 Handicap, 1000 metres
Stewards today finalised an inquiry into the reason for Jockey M. Usher being dislodged from HARD WOOD FOREST in Race 5 at the above meeting. After taking evidence from Jockey M. Usher the stewards established that HARD WOOD FOREST jumped in the air at the start and clipped the heels of BUBBLES AND BREW (App. D. Carrigg), which began awkwardly and shifted out abruptly despite the efforts of its rider. As no fault for the incident could be attributed to any one rider, stewards took no further action. As Jockey Usher had moved to New South Wales following this incident consequently the inquiry could not be concluded until today.
GENERAL:
Apprentice M. Hellyer was fined $50 under L.R.58 for failing to furnish a letter of authority from his master, Mr P. Duff.
Apprentice M. O’Brien pleaded guilty to a charge under A.R.92(12) in that she failed to claim her full allowance in respect of three engagements, namely, Race 2 MR EVANDER, Race 4 DIDYASEETHAT, and Race 5, MYSTIC MOUNTAIN. Apprentice O’Brien was fined a total of $300.
Race 1: Meng Tyres Class 3 Handicap - 1800 metres

Over the final 200 metres GOLD FREEZE (D. Simmons) laid in under pressure and momentarily hampered THREE KINGS (A. Coome).
Race 2: WIN Television Maiden Handicap - 1250 metres
1st - ROYAL ACTOR 2nd - BLUE BAYOU 3rd - MR EVANDER 4th – SOLAR ROAN
SOLAR ROAN (N. Patchett) was slow to begin.
After being slow to begin DUTCH PICCOLO (M. Cullen) was unable to muster early speed.
Rounding the home turn BLUE BAYOU (J. Stephens) shifted out to obtain clear running and in doing so bumped MR EVANDER (App. M. O’Brien).
Over the concluding stages MR EVANDER (App. M. O’Brien) laid in.
Following the race Jockey M. Cullen reported that, in his opinion DUTCH PICCOLO was shin sore. A post-race veterinary examination of the filly failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities. Connections advised Stewards that the filly will now be sent for a spell.

JAZZSHINKO (J. Felix) began awkwardly.
Approaching the 900 metres MR PUNKROCKER (App. M. Speers) was initially tightened for room by FALVADORE (N. Patchett), which shifted in. FALVADORE continued to shift in slightly, taking the running of EAGLE JESTER (B. Pengelly), which was taken in onto DIAMOND JOKER (D. Simmons), which was eased. Jockey N. Patchett was reprimanded and advised to make a greater effort to keep his mounts straight.
Near the 700 metres MR PUNKROCKER (App. M. Speers) raced up onto the heels of LE MIRAGE (G. Baker), shifted in abruptly and tightened the running of RATTLE ‘N’ RUN (App. M. Hellyer). MR PUNKROCKER then continued to race ungenerously for a short distance.
When questioned about the run of MR PUNKROCKER, Apprentice M. Speers stated that after beginning awkwardly MR PUNKROCKER was tightened for room near the 900 metres and near the 700 metres raced up onto heels and had to be eased. He added that the horse then laid out and raced ungenerously. He stated further that he put MR PUNKROCKER under pressure near the 500 metres, but the horse failed to finish the race off and was disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination of MR PUNKROCKER (App. M. Speers) did not reveal any apparent abnormality. Connections undertook to advise Stewards of anything that may become apparent with the colt in days subsequent to the event.

Approaching the 200 metres EXERTION (App. M. Hellyer) shifted in and tightened the running of BANK FEE (J. Felix), which was steadied and taken in onto WESTERN CHAT (N.
