MISTABLISTA (L. Dillon), ROYAL SON (T. Bannon) and TAIMOFYOURLIFE (A.Coome) were a little slow to begin.
On jumping DIAMOND DELANEY (N. Patchett) and DJAVA KNIGHT (S. Watkin) were tightened for room between BLANC DE NOIRS (T. O’Hara), which shifted out, and QUEEN IGGY (B. Binder), which shifted in.
Rounding the first turn BLANC DE NOIRS (T. O’Hara) commenced to hang out and continued to do so for the majority of the event.
Near the 200 metres MISTABLISTA (L. Dillon) shifted in, taking DJAVA KNIGHT (S. Watkin) in onto the tiring SEETHROUGH (D. Simmons). Jockey L. Dillon was advised that in future he must make a greater effort to ensure his mounts keep a straight line.
A post-race veterinary examination of DIAMOND DELANEY, which tailed the field throughout and was not competitive, did not reveal any significant abnormality. Trainer Mr D. Lemmon was advised that in future the mare’s nominations should be restricted to non TAB meetings until her form improves.
Race 2: XXXX Gold Class 1 Plate – 1050 metres:
1st – LOUQUALO 2nd – CIENTO MAMBO 3rd – NANNYGAI 4th – GUTENBERG
NANNYGAI (C. Whiteley) began awkwardly.
LOUQUALO (A. Spinks) began awkwardly, shifted out and made contact with DAYTIME DRAMA (S. Watkin). A short distance later DAYTIME DRAMA shifted in and crowded LOUQUALO.
On straightening for home GRAND MARK (A. Coome) was tightened for room between TAUPIN (D. Simmons) and LOUQUALO (A. Spinks), which shifted out to improve. Jockey A. Spinks was severely reprimanded and instructed to take greater measures to keep his mounts straight in future.
Race 3: Robert Peel Jewellers Class 1 Handicap – 1500 metres:
1st – NEW STORIES 2nd – STUNDER 3rd – CROIX DE FER 4th – PERICOLO
PERICOLO (S. Watkin) was slow to begin.
Near the 800 metres PERICOLO (S. Watkin) shifted out off the running rail, taking MORINGA’S KING (S. Katsidis) three wide. CROIX DE FER (D. Simmons), which had been racing three wide, was then obliged to race four wide.
When questioned with regard to the performance of MORINGA’S KING, Jockey S. Katsidis stated that near the 800 metres the horse was taken wider when STUNDER (D. Whatmore) shifted out away from the running rail and was reluctant to race between STUNDER and CROIX DE FER (D. Simmons). He added that it was not until after CROIX DE FER progressed forward that MORINGA’S KING commenced to trail up. Trainer Mr R. Bradshaw said that he was of the opinion that the horse is better suited when racing outside horses and held up for a final sprint. The explanations were noted. A veterinary examination of MORINGA’S KING did not reveal any significant abnormalities.
Jockey S. Watkin was cautioned regarding the use of the whip on PERICOLO over the final 100 metres.
Following the race VERY TRICKY (D. Green) was examined by the Club’s veterinary surgeon, who reported that the horse had sustained a significant injury to its off foreleg.

In the straight GOLD FREEZE (L. Rolls) was held up and unable to obtain clear running until near the 100 metres.
KELANCE (T. O’Hara) raced wide for the majority of the event.
Jockey D. Green, the rider of CRISTI’S IDOL, was found guilty of a charge under A.R. 137A(4)(b) in that on several occasions inside the final 100 metres he used his whip in an action that raised his arm above shoulder height. Jockey D. Green was fined $200.

1st – MUNDI GULLY 2nd – TOUGH LUCK 3rd – ROCKET ON BY 4th – FANCIFUL
At the start COLOUR BLUE (L. Dillon) shifted out abruptly, causing all other runners, with the exception of CANNY WHOOSKA (A. Spinks), to be hampered and taken outwards. As a result of the pressure SHANTY SHAMROCK (J. Byrne) and MR DE LAGO (App. L. Rolls) lost their positions.
CANNY WHOOSKA was slow to begin.
On the first turn MUNDI GULLY (D. Whitmore) was caught four wide and was obliged to race three wide for the remainder of the race.

After being placed in the barriers MASSIAH (J. Byrne) broke through. The gelding was quickly restrained, returned behind the barriers where it was examined by the Club’s veterinary surgeon and cleared to start.
RED STORY (L. Dillon) was slow to begin.
Jockey S. Watkin was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under A. R. 137(a) in that near the 600 metres he permitted JAZZOOM to shift in when insufficiently clear of ELEGANT ROI (D. Missen), which had to be checked to avoid the heels of JAZZOOM, which had improved to the inside of RED MESHACH (J. Byrne).
