Race 1: Autocorner BenchMark 60 Handicap - 1800 metres
1st ARIADNE 2nd PHIL DOESN’T CARE 3rd SUPA MEGA DEADLY 4th - DOREBOY

Stewards accepted the explanation tendered by trainer P. Pengelly for the late declaration of Jockey B. El’Issa as the rider of PHIL DOESN’T CARE.

At the start ZAHA ROYALE (T. Bannon) shifted out onto TOUCH OF GLORY (C. Whiteley)

In the middle stages PHIL DOESN’T CARE (B. El’Issa) was inclined to over-race.

Near the 100 metres ARIADNE (A. Coome) was inclined to lay in.

Trainer C. Dore reported that she was disappointed with the poor performance of DOREBOY (D. Simmons) and she now intends to give the gelding a freshen-up prior to its next race start.

Race 2: Heed Business Design Maiden Handicap - 1100 metres
1st LIGHT DREAMER 2nd PURE WIDOW 3rd SOAP BOX SALLY 4th - HE’S A TERROR

Stewards accepted the explanation tendered by trainer D. Symons for the dual engagement of Jockey T. Bannon for BECCA THE JET and PURE WIDOW. Jockey A. Coome was substituted as the rider of BECCA THE JET.

At the start LIGHT DREAMER (D. Simmons) shifted in onto HE’S A TERROR (A. Dykes), which had been slow to begin.

Leaving the 900 metres RUN FOR RICHARD (B. El’Issa) shifted in on two occasions, resulting in PURE WIDOW (T. Bannon) having to steady momentarily.

Approaching the home turn BECCA THE JET (A.Coome) laid out. Trainer D. Symons was advised that a warning will be placed on the racing manners of the filly.

READY TO DAZZLE (D. Evans) and MINARDI MAGIC (T. O’Hara) raced wide throughout.

When questioned as to his riding of FRA DIABLO, in particular in the home straight, Jockey L. Dillon stated that after being a little slow to begin he took up a position midfield. Jockey Dillon said that the gelding dropped the bit in the home straight and when placed under pressure failed to respond to his riding and on several occasions was inclined to shift away from BECCA THE JET. Jockey Dillon added further that he became concerned when the gelding started to make an unusual respiratory noise. Jockey Dillon advised that he had suggested to the trainer that FRA DIABLO would be better suited if blinkers and a tongue-tie were returned as part of the horse’s approved gear. Stewards will follow up with the trainer in the coming days.

Post-race veterinary examinations of both FRA DIABLO and BECCA THE JET revealed no abnormalities.

Race 3: Suncrest Food Distributors Class 1 Plate - 1200 metres
1st – VERMITHRAX 2nd BRASHERE 3rd OAKFIELD COUNT 4th - RESTRAINING ORDER

WAY TOO PRICE CI (D. Simmons) over-raced early.

Near the 500 metres WAY TOO PRICE CI (D. Simmons) raced in restricted room to the inside of RESTRAINING ORDER (App K. Gates), which shifted in and away from ODE TO ME (App. S. Cooke), which shifted in marginally, resulting in WAY TOO PRICE CI being placed in restricted room and having to check. As stewards could not be comfortably satisfied that any individual rider was responsible for the incident, no further action was taken.

A post-race veterinary examination of GOODNESS GRACIOUS (B. El’Issa) revealed no abnormalities.

Race 4: Fergus Builders BenchMark 65 Handicap - 1560 metres
1st SHORT TRIP 2nd MIDNIGHT HUSTLER 3rd JIFF 4th – LIBERTY’S MAGIC

On jumping, CHARISM (A. Dykes) shifted in and bumped GREAT GETZKY (T. Bannon).

In the early and middle stages GREAT GETZKY over-raced.

From the 800 metres MIDNIGHT HUSTLER (App. S. Cooke) raced wide.

Rounding the home turn SHORT TRIP (M. Usher) was inclined to lay out.

Close to the finishing line REASONABEEL (A. Coome) was tightened for room between SIX OF HEARTS (D. Evans), which was laying out, and CHARISM , which shifted in under pressure.

When asked as to the seemingly poor performance of REASONABEEL, Jockey A. Coome stated that the mare was not suited by the pace of the event and that the step up in class may have contributed to the performance of the mare. Jockey Coome was of the opinion that REASONABEEL will be better suited in races over longer distances than today’s event, and in the circumstances he was not entirely disappointed with the performance.

Stewards afforded Jockey D. Evans the opportunity to explain his riding of SIX OF HEARTS. Jockey Evans stated that he had been instructed to take up a forward position if possible, however after beginning reasonably well he was caught wide in the early stages and when the pace slackened near the 1000 metres he elected to go around the field and take up a forward position. Jockey Evans added that in the straight the gelding was inclined to lay out and he was unable to fully test his mount over the concluding stages.

Race 5: M2E Services Open Handicap - 1300 metres
1st DUX BELLORUM 2nd - SHOWMETHEMONEY 3rd SO PRETENTIOUS 4th - LEXCEN

Trainer A. Cameron advised stewards that Jockey A. Dykes will be instructed not to use his whip on DUX BELLORUM unless it is absolutely necessary. Public announcements were made accordingly.

SHOWMETHEMONEY (T. Bannon), which had been fractious in the barriers, was slow to begin.

At the 500 metres SO PRETENTIOUS (A. Coome) was held up on the heels of DUX BELLORUM (A. Dykes), resulting in EIGHT PIECES (B. El-Issa), which was following, being unable to gain clear running.

Stewards questioned App K. Grace regarding his riding of LEXCEN. Stewards were particularly concerned as to why App. Grace permitted his mount to shift out near the 500 metres, where it appeared that he permitted SHOWMETHEMONEY to improve to his inside at which time he shifted wider and then continued to race wide for the remainder of the event. App. Grace stated that his mount was travelling only fairly at the time of the incident and after receiving a minor bump from SHOWMETHEMONEY his mount shifted out further than he had anticipated. App. Grace added that at the entrance to the straight LEXCEN began to respond to his riding and he was able to place it under pressure. The explanation was noted.

Race 6: AE Smith Airconditioning BenchMark 70 Handicap – 1100 metres
1st PRINCELY 2nd TAN TAT ALPHA 3rd EXCEED ALL LIMITS 4th - RISHONA

The declaration of correct weight was delayed as Jockey D Philpot, the rider of RISHONA, wished to view the films with the view to lodging an objection. After viewing the films Jockey Philpot did not wish to proceed with an objection and correct weight was declared.

At the start TAN TAT ALPHA (T. Bannon) shifted in and bumped RISHONA (D. Philpot), which was slow to begin.

EXCEED ALL LIMITS (M. Usher) was slow to begin.

At the 200 metres PRINCELY (A. Coome) improved to the inside of TYSON RULES (A. Dykes), which was weakening, resulting in TYSON RULES shifting out and bumping BONNY THE VIPER (B. El’Issa).

Stewards took evidence from Jockeys B. El'Issa, the rider of BONNY THE VIPER, and A. Dykes, the rider of TYSON RULES, in regard to an incident that occurred near the 50 metres, where Jockey El’Issa appeared to make contact with Jockey Dykes. An inquiry into the incident was adjourned to a time and date to be fixed.

Close to the finishing line TAN TAT ALPHA laid in under pressure, resulting in RISHONA (D. Philpot) being tightened for room.
