Race 1: PATRONS MAIDEN PLATE - 1000 METRES
1st– REGAL REGAIN 2nd– RODEO RIDE 3rd– SATIN DREAM 4th– ONCE MORE BROTHER
TAVERN TRAPPER was declared a late scratching at 1:08pm by order of stewards acting on veterinary advice after it was found to have lacerations and swelling to both hind legs. As betting had not commenced deductions were not necessary. S Pedron the trainer of TAVERN TRAPPER was advised that the gelding would require a veterinary certificate of soundness prior to trialing or racing.
RODEO RIDE (B Powell) was slow to begin.
ONCE MORE BROTHER (App.D Evans) raced wide for the majority.
When questioned into the seemingly disappointing performance of GUNJAIR jockey Kearney stated he felt the gelding had a wind problem and was making respiratory noises. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. D Schultz the trainer of GUNJAIR was advised that the gelding would be required to complete a 1000 metre gallop and pass a veterinary examination prior to trialing or racing.
Race 2 : MAYORAL CLASS 2 HANDICAP - 1000 METRES
1st – MIDORI LAD 2nd – BURNING ARCH 3rd – OUR NETTY 4th – MY MILLIONAIRE
MYSTERY GUN was declared a late scratching by order of stewards at 2:12pm after the gelding dislodged it’s rider enroute to the barriers and completed several laps of the track. On the announcement of correct weight stewards ordered all monies invested on MYSTERY GUN be refunded and deductions of 19 cents in the win and 16 cents in the place be applicable on successful wagers. A Hayward the trainer of MYSTERY GUN was advised a warning would be placed on the geldings pre race manners.
LARRABY (S Bayliss) which broke through the barriers prior to the start was returned to the barriers and cleared to start by the clubs veterinarian.
Approaching the 900m LARRABY (S Bayliss) and BURNING ARCH (L Appo) had to be eased when MIDORI LAD (App.D Evans) shifted in. At a subsequent inquiry Apprentice D Evans was reprimanded and advised to show more care.
Race 3 : GORDON & EVELYN HUTTON MEMORIAL CLASS B HANDICAP - 1200 METRES
1st – BLUE TOM 2nd – MUTHAIGA CLUB 3rd – JACOBS STYLE 4th – TOP WIN
ZERO HARM was declared a late scratching at 10:30am due to no rider being available.
DANEGAL which was fractious behind the barriers was examined by the clubs veterinarian and cleared to start.
Both DANEGAL (M Johnston) and STAR VALOUR (App.S Mossman) were slow to begin.
MUTHAIGA CLUB (S Bayliss) raced wide for the majority.
Race 4: CRAIGLEA RAHEEN MARRS BEEF & COAL SERIES HANDICAP – 1200 METRES
1st – HAYILEBELLE 2nd – REYNELLA 3rd – TAMARSHAK 4th – IRON BRIDGE
MR CLANCY (L Appo) knuckled on jumping losing ground.
TAMARSHAK (App.D Evans) was disappointed for clear running from 250m to 100m.
Race 5: KEN RUSSELL MEMORIAL OPEN HANDICAP - 1400 METRES
1st – HENAVARI 2nd – CROWN PRINCE 3rd – PARADISE DANCER 4th – REGAL CHARMER
