MAREEBA TURF CLUB STEWARDS REPORT 18/01/03

STEWARDS PANEL: R Doyle (Chairman), W Abell, H Warren

WEATHER – FINE TRACK – TURF RAIL – TRUE

RACE 1: MAIDEN H'CAP – 1123M

PINK KIMONO jumped out and PILOT POINT jumped in at the start hampering BRUNETTE LAD which was slow in to stride.

STRICTLY STRAIGHT had to be steadied at the 900m when MR. HATTA was inclined to lay in and away from PINK KIMONO, which shifted in marginally.

Over concluding stages of race MR. BREIFCASE shifted in making contact with PILOT POINT.

RACE 2: CLASS 2 H'CAP – 1210M

Due to transport problems F Edwards did not arrive on course and was replaced by K Rockett on ANOTHER TWINKLE.

REGULATE jumped out at the start minor contact with QUALITY ACHIEVED.

RACE 3: CLASS 4 H'CAP – 1010M

ARCON TOFF was very fractious in the barrier.

RACE 4: WEIGHT FOR AGE H'CAP – 1010M

SPACE PRINCE was inclined to lay in over concluding stages of race.

RACE 5: CLASS 3 H'CAP –1500M

Trainer F Wieland was questioned about the bona fides of the nomination and scratching of WOREE LAD. Mr Wieland said that he had withdrawn the gelding as it had not eaten well after its work out on Tuesday morning and had to miss some work on Friday. Stewards noted the explanations.

COPPER TRICKS tended to over race in the early stages of race.

RACE 6: CLASS 6 PLATE – 1210M


No racing incidents.
