GENERAL
RACING:
RACE 1 CAPRICORN SALES SUPER QRIS 2YO MAIDEN HCP..1000 METRES - (12 STARTERS) At the start KABALENA CROWN (J. Piper) jumped awkwardly and then made contact with PULLMAN (P. Wheeler).

As the gates opened TRIPLE KAM (J. Cairns) jumped inwards.

Approaching the 600 metres TRIPLE KAM made the turn awkwardly causing PULLMAN having to be steadied.

Approaching the home turn WESTERN GAL (L. Timson) raced wide.

RACE 2 2YO QUALITY HCP..1000 METRES - (9 STARTERS) The start was delayed due to ANAKITA having to be inspected by the club veterinarian due to a slight mishap in the enclosure. The filly was passed fit to start.

Prior to the start ANAKITA had to be re-saddled.

At the start WESTERN PLEASURE (P. Moodie) jumped inwards.

MISTY RIVER (J. Cairns) raced fiercely in the early stages and commenced to hang out rounding the home turn.

Approaching the 500 metres FULL BROTHER (D. Evans) which was racing greenly lost ground after striking the running rail when racing in restricted room to the inside of ANAKITA.

Approaching the 250 metres P. Moodie rider of WESTERN PLEASURE was obliged to alter course to obtain clear running.


RACE 3 CLASS 1 HCP..1100 METRES - (14 STARTERS) D. Whitmore was fined the sum of $50 for an infringement of AR120(b) in that he was overweight for EASTERN ELEGANCE, subsequently S. Quick replaced D. Whitmore as the rider of EASTERN ELEGANCE.

BEREYLA (P. Moodie) reared prior to the gates opening.

As the gates opened HULA SHARP (W. Welburn) was slow to begin.

KENDEL LACE (D. Simmons) was slow to muster early speed.

Approaching the 800 metres S.Quick rider of EASTERN ELEGANCE had to restrain the mare resulting in MAGIC LANCER (M. Unwin) which was trailing having to be steadied.

Approaching the 600 metres TELLEGRA (D. Evans) made contact with the running rail.

Stewards questioned Nathan Evans, rider of KHAKI, with regards to his lack of vigour over the concluding stages of the race. N. Evans stated that upon turning for home he found his mount was inclined to lay out and hang on one rein when he tried to place the gelding under pressure. Stewards noted N. Evans explanations.

RACE 4 CLASS 3 HCP 1100 METRES - (12 STARTERS) The start was delayed due to a bridle having to be adjusted on LARRIKIN’S LANDING. The start was further delayed due to WITH CAUSE having to have his hind plate replaced.

Over the concluding stages GIBRALTAR REIGNS (D. Evans) had to be steadied when placed in restricted racing room between MAGIC DAZZLER (M. Unwin) to the outside and PIMPALA MAGIC (D. Whitmore) to the inside.

RACE 5 MAIDEN HCP.1200 METRES - (15 STARTERS) At the start SPYING MISS jumped awkwardly.

Approaching the 800 metres MAHOGANY JET (W. Tomsett) was racing ungenerously.

RACE 6 CLASS 4 HCP 1200 METRES - (12 STARTERS) The start was delayed due to TOTAL GLANCE breaking through the starting stalls and completing a circuit of the course. Subsequently stewards withdrew TOTAL GLANCE at 2.44pm acting on veterinary advice. No betting deductions were applicable.

An inquiry was adjourned into the reasons for BEEN THERE’S BEST (J. Piper) falling at approximately the 800 metre mark.

T. McMahon, trainer of SEATTLE TOWN reported that the gelding had been stripped in the event.

RACE 7 OPEN HCP 1200 METRES – (12 STARTERS): The advertised starting time of this event was put back to 3.35pm due to the running rail having to be repaired.

BAY POET was declared a late scratching by order of Stewards at 12 noon when the possibility of an upgrade to the track rating was unlikely.

W. Welburn replaced J. Piper on HAS IT ALL due to J. Piper being indisposed.

At the start HAS IT ALL (W. Welburn) jumped awkwardly.

BIRA (P. Moodie) was slow to begin.

Approaching the 450 metre mark FLYING DEAL apprentice M. Allen dipped.

RACE 8 CLASS 6 HCP. 1500 METRES – (8 STARTERS) The advertised starting time was amended to 4.05pm.

CARLTON LAD (P. Wheeler) was slow to begin.

RACE 9 CLASS 2 HCP. 1400 METRES – (15 STARTERS) P. Wheeler replaced J. Piper as the rider of RICHAL.

Approaching the 1100 metres PLUSH LOVER (M. Unwin) ducked in causing BABY SPICE (D. Whitmore) to shift in and hamper BENELITE (L. Timson) which resulted in MONEY (D. Simmons) and KEN REIGN (W. Welburn) having to be steadied.
RACE 10 OPEN HCP. 1500 METRES – (9 STARTERS) W. Welburn replaced J. Piper as the rider of BUCKHEAD.
Approaching the 650 metre mark VOLCANIC SPARKLE (A. Williams) and PHAROS’ RULER (N. Evans) made contact.

BOOKMAKERS: 4 bookmakers fielded at the race meeting.
SWABBING: All winners were sent to be swabbed and the samples obtained were forwarded to the Racing Science Centre for routine analysis.
