WEATHER – Fine TRACK – Good
RAIL – Short Course –.Rail true position. Long Out 3m from 1000m to 400m. Cutaway at 400m
RACE 1: CLASS 6 H'CAP – 1500 METRES (6 STARTERS)
IVORY ROAD (C. Clarke) jumped awkwardly. GLENBOLT (D. Simmons) was slow to muster early speed. REGAL REVENUE (M. Lehmann) was placed under pressure from the 600 metres and failed to respond. Mark Lehamnn, rider of REAGA REVENUE, reported to stewards that he didn’t believe his mount travelled well in running. A veterinary inspection of the gelding revealed no abnormalities.
RACE 2: CLASS 1 H'CAP – 1400 METRES (9 STARTERS)
At the start VENTURE CAPITAL (J. Stephens) jumped awkwardly. Approaching the 1100m ANOTHER POWER (B. Appo) shifted inwards making contact with HIGHEST POWER (Appr M. Allen) in turn hampering REEF STALKER (Appr B.Dieckmann). In the middle stages CANDLELIGHT LANE (M. Evans) raced ungenerously. A Veterinary inspection of CANDLELIGHT LANE revealed that the mare had pulled up distressed. A second consultation revealed no further abnormality, however the trainer was advised to monitor the progress the recovery of the horse over the weekend.
RACE 3: CLASS 3 H'CAP - 1800 METRES (7 STARTERS)
No racing incidents to report.
RACE 4: MAIDEN H'CAP – 1100 METRES (11 STARTERS)
BEULAH LAND (C. Beets) was slow to begin. As the gates opened MARETAILS (M. Evans) jumped outwards and was subsequently slow into stride. Approaching the 900 metre PIRATE’S DEN (D. Rewald) had to be steadied when placed in restricted racing room to the inside of NISTLEROY (J. Stephens). J. Stephens rider of NISTELROY was advised by stewards to exercise more care when placed in similar circumstances. Approaching the 600 metres HAPPY FESTIVUS (D. Johnston), when improving, had to be steadied off the heels of NISTELROY. Approaching the 600 metres PIRATE’S DEN (D. Rewald) was steadied momentarily and was obliged to alter course and as a result forced NEGATIVE CARRY (M. Allen) wider on the track. Passing the 300 metres HAPPY FESTIVUS and PIRATE’S DEN made contact.
RACE 5: CLASS 2 H'CAP – 1100 METRES (8 STARTERS)
Apprentice John Dagan, rider of Pesty Boy, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding in that he permitted his mount to shift in at a point nearing the 900m when insufficiently clear of Crown Heir (M McDonald) which had to be checked after it crowding Jolie Miss (D Whitmore) in onto Crossbletch (App. M Allen) which was placed in restricted running and had to be checked. His licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 2 CRA race meetings to commence on Sunday 1st April up to and including Saturday 13th April 2002. Mr D Badham, trainer of MOTORING HOME, reported that the filly had sustained an injury to her offside hind leg. A Veterinary inspection revealed a laceration sustained above the fetlock requiring appropriate treatment.
RACE 6:2YO MAIDEN H’CAP 1200 METRES (16 STARTERS)
As the gates opened RAISE THE RAIN (D. Johnston) jumped outwards and failed to race competitively throughout the race. A Veterinary inspection of RAISE THE RAIN revealed no abnormalities. Stewards advised Mr Fred Smith trainer of RAISE THE RAIN that that gelding would be required to trial to the satisfaction of stewards over 1000 metres prior to it racing again. LOKIE’S WARRIOR (D. Simmons) jumped outwards hampering INDIAN BRIDE (J. Dagan) out onto SLASHED (D. Evans), which in turn received pressure from HIGH WESTERN (Appre L. Timson) which was crowded by DUST CHILD (J. Stephens) which jumped inwards. Shortly after the start SLASHED had to be steadied as a result of INDIAN BRIDE shifting out. Approaching the 800 metres ROYAL LEGUP (B. Dieckmann) failed to negotiate the first turn and raced ungenerously for the remainder of the event. Over the concluding stages IRGUN COWBOY (App M. Allen) raced greenly. ALOE SEA (M. Barnham) shifted out over the concluding stages when placed under pressure. M. Barnham, rider ALOE SEA reported that his mount shifted as if she was sore. A Veterinary inspection revealed no abnormality. It was further noted that the filly had raced greenly.
RACE 7: OPEN H'CAP – 1200 METRES (7 STARTERS)
At the start NORPICK (M. Evans) jumped awkwardly.
RACE 8:CLASS 5 H'CAP – 1200 METRES (8 STARTERS)
At the start MONOCLE (F Okawa) jumped inwards making contact FLAT (B Dieckmann). Approaching the 1000m MUSICAL GLOW (A Gillett) was steadied when placed in restricted running to the inside of Medieval Maestro (M McDonald). Approaching the 800m Danegold (J Stephens) steadied off the heels Musical Glow.
ALL WINNERS WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED.
