Trainer M Craven and Apprentice S Van Klaveren were shown the film of the finish of the race and it was pointed out to Apprentice Van Klaveren that he should ride his horse all the way to the winning post.
Stewards enquired into an incident shortly after the start in which REASON TO TALK (G McKeon) had to be steadied off the heels of DANJOSE (D Evans). Jockey D Evans was warned about the dangers of crossing to the fence when not sufficiently clear.
REASON TO TALK (G McKeon) tended to lay in over the concluding stages.

Race 2: 3YO MAIDEN HANDICAP - 1000 metres
FLASH FOR CASH (S Quick) raced greenly and over the concluding stages, shifting out sharply coming into contact with GOLDEN AND TRUE (D Evans).
PENETTA (T Mathieson) was slow away. Connections reported that PENETTA (T Mathieson) returned to scale with a cut to the off side mouth. They felt the horse had bitten itself during the race.
JEWEL SPEED (M J Stephens) raced very erratically. Trainer K Mathieson was advised that the horse would be required to trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to renominating.
Jockey D Evans and Trainer Tom Bourke reported that they felt GOLDEN AND TRUE pulled up sore behind. Veterinary surgeon reported that the horse was suffering from muscle soreness in the hind limbs.
HONOR’S ADVOCATE (B Stewart) was held up for a run from about the 100 metres to the 50 metres.

Race 3: OPEN HANDICAP - 1000 metres
GLEN IDOL(NZ) (D Evans) slowly away.
After passing the post RECORD TIME (McKeon) ducked in quite sharply coming into contact with STARATAN (S Van Klaveren) causing that horse to brush the rail. Apprentice McKeon was advised to take care even after passing the post.

Race 4: CLASS 1 HANDICAP - 1100 metres
MIGHTY MEKONG (D Lloyd) was slow away.
An enquiry was held into an incident at about the 350 metre mark in which SIMULATOR (B Stewart) ducked out when attempting a run coming into contact with STARTACUS (M Barnham) and in turn shifted out coming into contact with MYDAM TWIST (D Johnston) which was attempting a run on its outside causing that horse to come into contact with KINGS MIRROR (M Spriggs) forcing that horse out on to BOW’S LAW (D Simmons).
Jockey Brad Stewart was given the benefit of a grave doubt and issued with a reprimand.

Race 5: CLASS 6 PLATE - 1300 metres
BANNOCK BAY (S Van Kalveren) was slowly away.
Approaching the 800 metre mark BANNOCK BAY was pulling hard and shifted away from the fence to avoid the heels of KOALA (M Spriggs).
At about the 75 metre mark BANNOCK BAY tended to lay in.

Race 6: CLASS 2 HANDICAP – 1300 metres
A protest was lodged by D Green the rider of 3rd place getter ROSIELEE MISS against DON PICCOLO (B Stewart) being declared the winner, alleging interference at about the 1100 metres. After viewing the film, taking evidence and acting on their own observations, Stewards dismissed the protest and placings stood.

Race 7: MAIDEN PLATE – 1612 metres
At about the 250-metre mark FORESTS (D Lloyd) had to be checked when FORBIDDEN STAR (D Evans) compounded and lost ground suddenly.
