Race 1: CLASS 2 HANDICAP -1300 metres
Following Race 1 Stewards inquired into the riding tactics employed on ST. SPARTICA. Apprentice McKeon explained that Trainer J Wigginton had instructed him not to lead and expected REGAL KELLINA to make the pace. G McKeon took hold to allow REGAL KELLINA to cross in an endeavour to take a sit behind that horse but the pace slackened forcing him to have to take hold, as a result the horse over raced. Approaching the home turn ST. SPARTICA tended to hang out and was unable to take a run that presented itself inside WHITIORA (S Quick). ST. SPARTICA was unable to obtain a clear run over the concluding stages.
Following Race 1 Trainer M Stafford approached Stewards stating that in his opinion Dean Tanti had failed to ride his mount to the line. Stewards interviewed Dean Tanti and viewed the film. It was found that PARTINGS had attempted to lay in over the concluding stages causing Dean Tanti to take hold and change direction but he had continued to ride his horse to the line.

Race 2: MAIDEN HANDICAP - 1200 metres
Approaching the 800 metres COP SHOP (M Goodwin) had to be steadied to avoid the heels of ZOETEKEN (M Rice) and in doing so tended to over race.

Race 3: QTIS 3&4 Y-O CLASS 4 HANDICAP – 1200 metres
Approaching the 750 metre mark VICTORY SIREN (D Tanti) had to be steadied off the heels of ENDING (S Shield) when VICTORY SIREN tended to hang out.

Race 4: CLASS 1 HANDICAP - 1100 metres
Trainer D Crouch reported that BIG FISH (M Spriggs) had been galloped on during the race. A veterinary examination revealed that BIG FISH suffered minor skin lacerations to the off hind leg.
At about the 800 metre mark CAIRENE (R Mules) ducked in causing MAKE MINE GEORGE (L Timson) to be steadied which in turn forced SHOKUR (M J Stephens) to steady off its heels.

Race 5: CLASS 5 HANDICAP - 1100 metres
Due to an ownership discrepancy on the stable return for AS FULL AS, Trainer’s representative Mrs Tina Godfrey was advised that inquiries would be made with the TSC regarding her claim that she amended the stable return prior to the Gympie meeting on the 25th September 2004.
Apprentice M Rice was questioned regarding the poor performance of INTELLIGENTLY. He stated that the horse jumped well, took up a handy position and was well placed approaching the home turn. Once placed under pressure it failed to run on. He further stated the he felt that the horse did not handle the turns. Explanation was noted.
INTELLIGENTLY proved difficult to load and a warning was placed on that horse. Trainer T Hall was advised of this in writing.

Race 6: BRACELET HANDICAP – 1200 metres
INVERSE RATIO (S Shield) was scratched at the barrier on veterinary advice at 4.02pm. A deduction of 13 cents a win and 12 cents a place was ordered and all monies on that horse were ordered refunded. A veterinary examination revealed that INVERSE RATIO was lame in the off hind just below the hock. Trainer T Cook was advised in writing that INVERSE RATIO would require a veterinary certificate prior to its next start.
Trainer D Crouch was fined $100 for presenting MIGHTY STRONGHOLD with unsewn bandages.

Race 7: CLASS 4 HANDICAP – 1600 metres
No incidents.

Race 8: CLASS 6 HANDICAP – 1400 metres
As the gates opened DON’T MUKAROUND (C Rogers) dipped.

GENERAL:
Jockey N Day rang to advise that due to a family emergency he would not be able to honour his riding commitments.
Trainer D Crouch advised Stewards prior to Race 1 that M Spriggs would be the rider on MISTER CRAB. Appropriate notifications were made.
At approximately 1.15pm M Spriggs rang the course to advise Stewards that he did not know that he had been engaged to ride this horse and advised that he would not be able to ride MISTER CRAB as he would not be on course for Race 2. The mix-up was due to a misunderstanding.
During the meeting the specifications of all riders whips were checked.
