Race 1: MAIDEN PLATE 3YO & UP - 1500 metres
Apprentice C Rogers was reprimanded regarding the over use of the whip over the concluding stages.
Race 2: CLASS 3 HANDICAP - 1500 metres
An enquiry was opened into an incident at about the 200 metres in which SHAKESPEARIAN (M Barnham) was forced to check and lose ground. M Goodwin, the rider of LOCAL, was charged with careless riding in that he allowed his mount to move in under hard riding and cause SHAKESPEARIAN to check and strike his heels. He was found guilty and suspended from riding in races up to and including 26/10/2004.
Apprentice C Rogers, the rider of REGIMENTAL, was charged with careless riding in that she allowed her mount to shift in under hard riding and subsequently bump LOCAL (M Goodwin) causing that horse to shift in even further. She was found guilty and suspended from riding in races from midnight 18/10/2004 up to including 26/10/2004.
Race 3: CLASS 1 HANDICAP – 1200 metres
As no other rider was available M Goodwin was permitted to ride SHOKUR 1.5kg overweight.
SIR ALISTER (A Lane) slowly away.
SHOKUR (M Goodwin) jumped out sharply coming into contact with JOFFA’S APPEAL (L Timson).
Approaching the 800 metres SIR ALISTER commenced to lug out and continued to do so for some distance.
Race 4: SPECIAL CONDITION HANDICAP - 1300 metres
CHIEF HARMONY (S Quick) over raced in the early stages.
C Rogers, the rider of MAGIC HOLIDAY was reprimanded for allowing her mount to shift in about the 1150 metres and in doing so caused J Stephens (ELECT A SONG) to be checked.
Race 5: QTIS 2 YO MAIDEN PLATE – 1000 metres
As the gates opened FORGOTTEN ACCENT (C Rogers) and STARRY DANCER (C Beets) came together heavily.
FOLLOW MY DREAMS (M Evans) jumped outwards coming into contact with MISS INNOCENCE (L Timson)
STAR BLITZ (M Goodwin) raced greenly throughout.
RAPID RUBY (G Booth) hung out on the first corner and raced greenly to the home turn.
Race 6: CLASS 6 HANDICAP – 1000 metres
MENTMORE LASS (M Barnham) fractious in the barriers.
MENTMORE LASS slowly away.
CRAIGLEA QUEEN (M Goodwin) jumped outwards coming into contact with ROUGH ENCOUNTER (L Timson).
At about the 250 metres LET’S GO RAW (S Quick), when attempting a run inside TANDOAKA (D Whitmore), had to steady when that horse shifted away from CRAIGLEA QUEEN (M Goodwin) that had drifted in under pressure.
GENERAL:
Prior to race 1 stewards enquired into an alleged threat to apprentice C Rogers. After interviewing foreman C Johnston and apprentice C Rogers stewards accepted a claim by R Hall that he was only passing on information regarding other jockeys concerns. Stewards noted his explanation and advised him to approach them in future if he wished to pass on comments by other riders. He could not or would not name where the comments were emanating from. He was advised that his actions would be monitored.
