Prior to this race stewards conducted an integrity surveillance check.
Stewards inquired into the riding tactics adopted on BOLD AUSBRED. Trainer Lyn Manzelmann stated that she had instructed apprentice Ryan Plumb to be close to the leader coming to the home turn and felt the horse would go to the front easily. Ryan Plumb stated that when the horse stood flat-footed for a stride he was unable to have the horse any closer in the early and middle stages. Once slow away the horse was reluctant to take up a handy position. After straightening the horse ran on under hands and heels riding.
Race 2: MAIDEN HANDICAP - 1500 metres
1st: CELESTIAL DIVA 2nd: CAMDEN SOUND 3rd: BELLO GINO 4th: WESTERN SCENE
Jockey J Stanley reported that when placed under pressure in the straight BELLO GINO found nothing.
GARRINCHA (L Morrison) jumped awkwardly losing ground.
As the gates opened CELESTIAL DIVA (M Bennett) blundered shifting outwards inconveniencing DIFFERENTIAL (E Dredge).
Race 3: CLASS 6 HANDICAP – 1100 metres
1st: JACKOSH 2nd: FACIAL 3rd: RUN A MUK 4th: ACQUIRE
At about the 800 metres mark JACKOSH (D Craven) steadied in front and SCENIC TRAVELLER (M J Stephens) tended to over race and clipped its heels.
Race 4: CLASS 2 HANDICAP - 1100 metres
1st: POP OUT ‘N’ DASH 2nd: PARIS MAIZ 3rd: MYDAM TWIST 4th: BROWNSVILLE GIRL
Prior to this race stewards conducted an integrity surveillance check.
SALVITAL scratched at 2.28pm due to no suitable rider being available on course. No deduction was ordered.
Prior to the race Trainer C Jackson advised Stewards that Jockey D Whitmore would attempt to ride MACGNOME closer to the lead.
REVERSE SWEEP when trying to take up a position, commenced to over race severely forcing Jockey D Craven to shift the horse outwards to take evasive action in an attempt to avoid the heels of horses racing in front of him. The horse raced wide for the remainder of the race.
BROWNSVILLE GIRL (M Carson) jumped in the air and lost ground.
Race 5: CLASS 4 HANDICAP - 1000 metres
1st: CAP JUAN 2nd: MOMENTUM 3rd: BRO 4th: MY CHARLIE
TANDOAKA (E Dredge) jumped inwards at the start.
VALIANT LAD (R Plumb) slowly away.
An inquiry was held into an incident at approximately the 650-metre mark in which COMMANDANTE (M J Stephens) checked and lost ground. Apprentice G McKeon the rider of MOMENTUM was found guilty of careless riding in that he allowed his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear causing COMMANDANTE to be checked. G McKeon was suspended from riding in races commencing on the 8th November 2004 up to and including the 19th November 2004 to be served concurrently.
Race 6: OPEN HANDICAP - 1300 metres
1st: ALL ABOUT CLASS 2nd: CEARNAIGH 3rd: CATERER 4th: STREAM GUL
As the gates opened CHIEF HARMONY (S Quick) was slow away.
ASTRO FLASH (M Evans) had to be steadied approaching the 800-metre mark when that horse commenced to over race.
ALL THINGS (NZ) (M Carson) pulled up sore in the near fore. Veterinary clearance required prior to next start.
Race 7: CLASS 1 HANDICAP - 1300 metres
1st: IDIDIT MY WAY (NZ) 2nd: MOURVEDRE 3rd: RENTREE 4th: ELUSIVE DIAMOND
Trainer’s representative Darren Young presented PIC OF THE PEARLS to race without a tongue-tie. Trainer P Dwyer was fined $50.00.
KING FELLA (S Quick) slowly away.
RENTREE (L Morrison) jumped inwards coming into contact with BIG DAVE (M Carson).
Approaching the 800 metre mark COP SHOP (E Dredge) commenced to over race and shifted out coming into contact with BIG DAVE.
At about the 175 metre mark REGAL KELLINA (D Whitmore) had to check and lose ground when COP SHOP (E Dredge) shifted out.
At a subsequent inquiry apprentice E Dredge was found guilty of a charge of careless riding and suspended from riding in races commencing on the 8th November 2004 up to and including the 18th November 2004.
GENERAL:
At approximately 9.15am Jockey David Lloyd rang to advise Stewards that due to a virus he would not be riding at today’s meeting. Stewards advised D Lloyd that a medical certificate would be required prior to his accepting further rides.
At an adjourned inquiry from the Rockhampton meeting on the 26th October 2004 apprentice G McKeon was found guilty of a charge of careless riding in that he allowed his mount to shift when insufficiently clear of JACKOSH (A Russo), LET’S GO RAW (S Quick), ULTRA SWING (M Evans) and JAZZARK (R Mules) at approximately the 1000 metre mark during the running of the Class 6 Handicap over 1100 metres. G McKeon was suspended from riding in races from the 8th November 2004 up to and including the 18th November 2004.
Stewards concluded an inquiry commenced on the 26th October 2004 into an incident in which MCLINTOCK (M Barnham) was checked and lost ground. It was ascertained that KOKONIE (M Bennett) shifted in and away from WESTERN SCENE (G McKeon) despite the best efforts of its rider resulting in NEVANDY (D Simmons) being taken in on to MCLINTOCK resulting in that horse being severely checked. No action was taken.
