SUPPLEMENTARY REPORTS:

Stewards today concluded two inquiries from Rockhampton Jockey Club 24th January 2006 into interference during in the running of Race 7 the XXXX OPEN H’CAP1400M.
After taking further evidence and viewing of the official race patrol footage J Stephens the rider of DANATINA was found guilty under AR137(a) of careless riding in that near the 1200m he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of CEARNAIGH (App C McIver) which was taken in across the heels of GONZO (M Usher) striking that horses heels and blundering, becoming unbalanced and shifting in making contact with the inside running rail. After taking into account
J Stephens good race riding record, his licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of two meetings to commence at midnight on Saturday 11th February 2006 up to and including Saturday 18th February 2006.

At a further inquiry it was established that approaching the 1150m SUNDAE JESTER (A Pattillo) shifted in and away from NIGHT CALL (S Watkin) after being momentarily tightened by that runner, shortly after ADMIRAL SPY (App D Peisley) improved to the outside of SUNDAE JESTER which then became unbalanced and after racing ungenerously for a short distance shifted in abruptly inconveniencing GONZO (M Usher) which had to be steadied and lose ground. CEARNAIGH (App C McIver) which was following also had to be steadied and lose ground in this incident.
S Watkin the rider of NIGHT CALL was advised to exercise more care when shifting ground.
As Apprentice D Peisley the rider of ADMIRAL SPY was not available for today’s inquiry and stewards are of the opinion he could not be held totally responsible, he will nonetheless be spoken to and shown footage of the race and be advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.


Race 1: EVERY BLOOMING THING MAIDEN H’CAP – 1000M.
1st – AEROTIC 2nd – BRIDGEWATER MILL 3rd – LAZLO 4th – MONTUNA

DOODA HOKEY POKEY (D Johnston) was slow to begin.

As the start was effected PURE DESTINY (App T Bannon) dropped its head down and began awkwardly losing ground.

Near the 500m CYCLONE GEORGE (App C McIver) had to steadied when momentarily tightened for room by EL SERINO (G Booth) which shifted in slightly after racing wide in the early and middle stages.

Race 2: DIPLOCK’S COLLISION REPAIR CLASS 2 H’CAP – 1000M.
1st – MORNING GLORY 2nd – JESTER DALE 3rd – DOUBLE YOU 4th – GENERAL ARTHUR

DEADLY CLANG (J Stephens) was slow to begin.

KINGS MIRROR (App C McIver) began awkwardly.

SQUEEZE ME PLEASE (App L Dillon) which was slow to begin was further hampered when tightened for between TIOLI (App A Coome) and DOUBLE YOU (D Carrigg) which both shifted ground.
Both KINGS MIRROR and DEADLY CLANG raced throughout the race.

On return to scale GENERAL ARTHUR was found to have bled from both nostrils, as this was the second bleeding attack suffered by GENERAL ARTHUR, the gelding now faces a mandatory life ban under AR53 A from racing in Australia.

Race 3: MCCAFE QTIS 3YO CLASS 1 H’CAP – 1200M.
1st – NATURAL ENERGY 2nd – GUILTY 3rd – RUNPHIR 4th – BOLD RED

The start was delayed when HONEYBELLE (S Quick) became fractious in barriers causing NATURAL ENERGY (App D Carrigg) to take fright and break through the barriers, after being quickly restrained and returned to barriers NATURAL ENERGY was passed fit to start by the clubs veterinary surgeon.

Both EVADING (S Shield) and FOLLOW MY DREAMS (a Pattillo) began awkwardly.

Approaching the 900m both RUNPHIR (App T Bannon) and BOLD RED (G Farrer) were inclined to over race, as a result BOLD RED improved onto the heels of PRO’S HERO (G Booth) near the 800m and became unbalanced shifting out abruptly clipping the heels of HONEYBELLE (S Quick) and blundering, RUNPHIR (App T Bannon) which was following was also hampered in this incident.

GUILTY (App L Dillon) was held up for clear running leaving the 200m.

Apprentice L Dillon the rider of GUILTY was found guilty of a charge to careless riding under AR137(a) in that near the 100m when being ridden along he permitted GUILTY to shift out when not clear of FOLLOW MY DREAMS (A Pattillo) which in turn shifted out taking the rightful running of ASPINASTRA (D Lloyd) which had to be checked. L Dillon’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of three meetings to commence at midnight on Saturday 11/02/2006 up to and including Thursday 23/02/2006.

Race 4: THE ROCK BUILDING SOCIETY CLASS 3 PLATE (S/W) – 1200M.
1st – VACINTA ROSE 2nd – JEWEL SPEED 3rd – HANDY HERO 4th – INTUITIVE LAD

As G Michaels was indisposed he was replaced by D Lloyd as the rider of VICINTA ROSE.

On returning to scale a protest was lodged by Apprentice T Bannon the rider of third placed HANDY HERO against VACINTA ROSE (D Lloyd) being declared the winner alleging interference leaving the 100m. After taking all evidence into account and viewing the official race video stewards dismissed the protest and correct weight was posted.

It was established that near the 100m, VACINTA ROSE (D Lloyd) after obtaining a tight run between JEWEL SPEED (App C McIver) and HANDY HERO (App T Bannon) shifted out slightly brushing HANDY HERO which had a tendency to lay in resulting in both horses to bump for a short distance.

ALBERGINIA (App D Carrigg) was slow to begin.

INTUITIVE LAD (D Johnston) began awkwardly losing ground.

EASY ROAD (A Pattillo) raced wide throughout the race.

ALBERGINIA commenced to over race leaving the 800m for a short distance.

Approaching the 700m HANDY HERO (App T Bannon) after being momentarily crowded for room by FLYING FIBS (S Shield) hung in despite the efforts of it’s rider and shifted in resulting in VACINTA ROSE (D Lloyd) having to be checked and lose ground. S Shield the rider of FLYING FIB was advised to exercise more care when shifting ground.
J Rideout the trainer of HANDY HERO was advised a warning would placed on that horses racing manners.

When questioned into the disappointing performance of EASY ROAD, rider A Pattillo stated that the horse failed to show any early speed and while the horse was caught wide he was nonetheless disappointed with its performance and was of the opinion that EASY ROAD may be looking for a longer distance at this stage of its preparation or may be at the end of its preparation, stewards noted A Pattillo’s explanation.
A post race veterinary inspection of EASY ROAD failed to reveal any abnormalities.

Race 5: PETER BOODLE’S QUALITY MEATS CLASS 6 H’CAP – 1100M.
1st – CRYSTAL LANE 2nd – CINDY KATE 3rd – DANATINA 4th – MY TRUE NORTH

DANATINA (J Stephens) began awkwardly.

Approaching the 800m MY TRUE NORTH (T Bannon) was momentarily crowded for room by HEARD A WHISPER (App D Carrigg) which had a tendency to lay in, DANATINA (J Stephens) which was racing to the inside of MY TRUE NORTH raced in restricted room for a short distance.

Leaving the 800m CRYSTAL LANE (App C McIver) commenced to over race and shifted in becoming unbalanced and then shifted out taking HEARD A WHISPER (App D Carrigg) wider on the track. MY TRUE NORTH (App T Bannon) which was following had to be steadied and as a result commenced to over race for a short distance.

MY TRUE NORTH lost its off hind plate during the race.

Race 6: SEVEN TELEVISION CLASS 1 PLATE (S/W) – 1500M.
1st – SONOVABEACH 2nd – CRAIGLEA TINSEL 3rd – BOLD BARASSI 4th – THUNDER SPRINGS

AS G Michaels was indisposed he was relaced as the rider of ACKERS by M Dale.

CRUISER LOSER was slow to begin.

LUKANE (App D Carrigg) over raced in the early stages of the race.

Approaching the 800m ACKERS (M Dale) improved onto the heels of POSE (G Booth) having to be steadied.

Approximately the 700m POSE (G Booth) shifted in of its own accord making contact with the inside running rail and then shifted out having to be steadied off the heels of BOLD BARASSI (D Lloyd).

Both BONALEAR (App C McIver) and STAR OF COURAGE (App L Dillon) raced wide throughout the race.

Race 7: XXXX CLASS 4 H’CAP – 1400M.
1st – LINK HOGTHROB 2nd – EQUITANT 3rd – MIDNIGHT DESIRE 4th – CROSSING

CORRIENTE (App C McIver) and LACELINE (A Pattillo) were slow to begin

Both EQUITANT and TRIUNFO (N Evans) began awkwardly.

LINK HOGTHROB (M Usher) raced wide in the early and middle stages.

LACELINE (A Pattillo) raced wide in the middle stages.

MIDNIGHT DESIRE (App T Bannon) shifted out under pressure over the concluding stages.
