Race 1: SEVEN TELEVISION CLASS 2 H’CAP – 1500M.
1st – STAGE SHAKER 2nd – DUSTY DANIEL 3rd – TRIUNFO 4th – GEE GEE MACGREGOR
Both SONOVABEACH (App T Bannon) and RULING DANE (App D Carrigg) were slow to begin.
DIATINE (App C Pay) was tightened for room at the start between BLIND MAN’S BLUFF (D Evans) which began awkwardly and shifted out and TRIUNFO (N Evans) which jumped in.
STAGE SHAKER (D Johnston) lay in momentarily near the 500m crowding DIATINE(App C Pay).
Race 2: CENTRE STATE SIGNS MAIDEN H’CAP – 1500M.

On returning to scale BALLATOR was found to bled, as this was the geldings first bleeding attack it will face the mandatory ban of 3 months.
HIGHTONIAN (J Stephens) began awkwardly.
Approaching the 1100m KIPCHOGE (D Evans) began to over race and had to be steadied after improving onto the heels of FLEUR DE PARIS (App R Plumb).
Near the 1000m HIGHTONIAN (J Stephens) commenced to over race causing the saddle to shift forward placing its rider at a disadvantage for the remainder of the race.
At approximately the 1000m REGAL HENRY which was racing ungenerously shifted in having to be steadied to avoid the heels THUNDER SPRINGS (D Johnston).
When questioned into the seemingly disappointing performance of KIPCHOGE rider D Evans stated that in his opinion the step up in distance from its previous run together with to-days track condition may not have suited the horse. Stewards noted his explanation.
A post race veterinary examination of KIPCHOGE failed to find any abnormalities.
Race 3: PHIL PEEL JEWLLERS CLASS 6 H’CAP – 1200M.
1st – SCANDAL PARK 2nd – NORTHERN SPIRT 3rd – OUR JIM BEAU 4th – MYDAM TWIST
SCANDAL PARK (D Johnston) was slow to begin.
OUR JIM BEAU (App D Carrigg) raced wide throughout the race.
App D Carrigg the rider of OUR JIM BEAU, was found guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR 137(a) in that near the 750m she allowed her mount to shift in making contact with MYDAM TWIST (App C Pay) which in turn shifted in crowding PROUD BUCK (N Coyne) and continued to crowd those runners until near the 650m where she permitted her mount to shift in further taking MYDAM TWIST in onto PROUD BUCK which inturn placed SCANDLE PARK (D Johnston) which was racing to its inside in restricted room and causing PROUD BUCK to be checked and lose its position. As a result PROUD BUCK was placed in an awkward position on the heels MYDAM TWIST until near the 500m. App D Carrigg’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 3 (Capricornia) meetings, to commence at midnight on Saturday 11th March 2006 up to midnight Friday 24th March 2006.
A post race veterinary examination of OUR JIM BEAU revealed a mild discharge from the right nostril and the horse was swabbed.

On return to scale a protest was lodged by J Stephens, rider of 4th placegetter, LADY IN SILK, against FORADE (N Evans), being declared 2nd, alleging interference near the 150m. After taking all the evidence into account and viewing the race film stewards dismissed the objection and correct weight was posted.
At a subsequent inquiry it was established that near the 100m LADY IN SILK (J Stephens) shifted in slightly causing FORADE (N Evans) to shift in and away, a short distance later BEG MY PARDON (App D Carrigg) which was racing to the inside of FORADE shifted out bumping that horse which then shifted out making contact with LADY IN SILK. N Evans the rider of FORADE was reprimanded and advised to make greater effort to straighten his mounts when shifting ground in future.
CORACLE BELLE (App C Pay) was slow to begin.
BELLADEEM (D Griffin) jumped out at the start taking LADY IN SILK (J Stephens) wider on the track and then raced wide for the majority of the race.

Stewards noted there explanation.
Race 8: XXXX GOLD CLASS 3 H’CAP – 1300M.

When questioned regarding the seemingly disappointing performance of EASY ROAD, D Johnston stated that while the horse travelled well up to the 500m, it failed to respond to his riding from that point and in his opinion did not handle to-days track conditions when put under pressure, stewards noted his explanation.
